Essential functions
- Operate light, medium or skilled equipment with little or no supervision that may include heavy trucks for hauling, plowing, snow blowers, and salt spreading; and/or commercial mowers and related landscape equipment for mowing operations, ball field maintenance, playground maintenance, swimming pool maintenance, pavilion maintenance, landscape maintenance, hauling and spreading of materials, and trailering equipment.
- Perform a variety of maintenance and repair projects on streets, parks, swimming pools, and other public areas in accordance with demands, weather emergencies and department priorities. Maintain conditions of streets, parks, facilities and other public areas, including patching roadways, repairing storm sewer inlets and pipes, inspecting and repairing playgrounds, repairing pavilions, tree and landscape maintenance, and athletic field and court repairs.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks on township vehicles, equipment and facilities that might include tasks such as check oil levels, check tire chains, wash vehicle windows, check condition of lights, check plow bolts, check air pressure in tires; wash, wax and grease equipment; clean vehicle interior and report problems requiring attention.
- Identify and report problems of maintenance for streets, parks, equipment and other public areas. Diagnose nature of problems and take action or recommend course of action to the Crew Leader or Foreman.
- Respond to emergencies to perform assigned maintenance tasks.
- Perform snow removal duties during winter season by shoveling, snow blowing, plowing, and spreading materials on roads and sidewalks. On-call 24-hours per day, seven days per week during winter plowing season (December 1 through March 31).
Other functions
- Attend training seminars and participate in on-the-job training to develop skills and knowledge and assist in providing training to other employees.
- Ability to demonstrate physical fitness to include occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing and walking for long periods of time, bending, pushing and pulling.

- Heavy equipment operator to include backhoe, front end loader and/or skid steer loader
- Construction experience to include reading blueprints, operating construction level equipment, layout and preparation of construction sites and project execution
- Landscape construction experience to include layout and preparation for hardscape projects, landscape plant identification, pruning, bed maintenance, water feature installation and maintenance
Preferred Education and Experience
- 5 years of experience working in Public Works or related field

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Work under the appropriate applicable provision of the electrical code, approved plans and specification, and standard industry practice.
- Maintain and repair water and wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Diagnose, install, alter, maintain, repair, and replace plant electrical equipment.
- Work from blueprints, schematics, and manuals to install, trouble shoot and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, motos, switches, alarm systems, apparatus, and control equipment.
- Maintain records of repairs and maintenance work performed.

- Observes and enforces safety rules. Safely operate a variety of hand and power tools, specialized electrical testing and calibration equipment, and materials used in skilled electrical and mechanical work on municipal facilities, stations, sites, and pumps and motors.

- Performing preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and documenting the findings in a central maintenance database.
- Frequent customer contact to ensure excellent service is provided to internal & external requests.
- Using earth-moving equipment, aerial equipment up to 120, and pneumatic equipment to facilitate electrical repairs.
- There will be occasions when this position requires project leadership of other electrical team members, including apprentices, to complete job tasks.
- Utilizing desktop and mobile devices for data entry, communication, and time entry.
Standby is currently compensated at $2.50 per hour, with callout requests and responses being paid at time and a half the normal hourly wage.
Available Shifts:
1st shift 6:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
2nd shift 1:00 P.M. -11:30 P.M.
3rd shift 11:00 P.M. - 9:30 A.M.
Work location: 100 W. Washington Street, Phoenix, AZ 85003.
SALARY
$5.08 - 47.01 per hour base wage. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
Additional compensation for Unit 2 positions includes:
- Shift differential pay is available for hours worked during nights and weekends.
- Standby is currently compensated at 2.50 per hour.
- Callout requests and responses are paid at time and a half normal hourly wage.
- Paid time off includes 13.5 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, and 15 sick days and personal leave days.
- 401(a), 3.62% employer contribution of base wage for Unit 002 employees.
- Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
- Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
- Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
- When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a recognized four year electrical apprenticeship program, or equivalent training,
- OR three years of experience as a skilled electrician.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

- Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must be fingerprint ed and will have their fingerprint s used to check the Criminal History Records of the State of Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Position Overview:
We are currently looking to hire a Public Works Laborer, this position will support a wide range of construction and maintenance tasks, with a strong emphasis on concrete work. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on concrete finishing or forming experience who is also willing to assist with other public works duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general labor duties on public works projects including site prep, cleanup, and equipment use.
- Assist with concrete placement, forming, finishing, and repair for sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and related structures.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely and effectively.
- Support crew leads and foremen with day-to-day project tasks.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety guidelines, and quality standards.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet deadlines and maintain productivity.
Qualifications:
- Previous concrete experience required (finishing, forming, or placement).
- 1+ years of construction or public works labor preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor environments.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
