The Opportunity

This position will initially focus on a single project before expanding to others as they help to refine internal publishing production practices in order to better support our internal and external studios. You will handle the publishing production oversight of global projects with internal and external collaboration with multiple publishing support services including marketing, QA, Analytics, Localization, and more; you will have excellent relationship building & stakeholder management skills and must have the confidence to work independently and across various levels and disciplines.

What We Need

Were looking for a Director, Publishing Production on the publishing team who can drive operational excellence as we support the development team on early development, user testing, milestone review, launch readiness and through long-term service delivery. This role will serve as a critical link from 2K publishing to the development team connecting product vision, development execution, shared service delivery, localization, QA, insights/analytics, and release management. Youll be responsible for building and scaling operational pipelines that support continuous content updates, monetization cadence, technical integration, live service stability, and a high-quality player experience.

This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in all facets of game development, including preproduction, early user testing, closed/open betas, world wide launch, live ops, and free-to-play business models. As part of the Operations Leadership Team, you will drive cross-functional collaboration, and ensure our live game experience runs with consistency and predictability in an adaptive environment.

What You Will Do

  • Own and manage the publishing side of game operations in collaboration with the game studio. Key areas of focus will include the publisher's connection to game service(s) health, shared tech services, localization, legal, content update execution, seasonal launches, and in-game events.
  • In collaboration with the studio, define release readiness criteria and own go/no-go processes for patches, updates, and content drops ensuring cross-functional alignment and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and Insights & Analytics teams to establish process and execution for user testing strategies, live events, store rotations, and promotions.
  • Oversee operational response planning for emergent player-impacting issues, including rollback plans, hotfix workflows, QA review, customer support coordination, comms, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Help develop and manage dashboards and reporting tools to monitor game health, server stability, KPIs, and player sentiment.
  • Partner with Analytics, Engineering, Customer Experience, and Community to maintain a feedback loop that fuels rapid iteration and continuous improvement.

What Will Make You a Great Fit

  • 8+ years of experience in internal or external game development or publishing role.
  • 4+ years of experience working on a Live game or service.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $163,400 and $241,820 per Year.   • Operate the press, folder, reel stands and able to stack down press run if needed
  • Check print product for quality assurance using densitometer
  • Maintain the press mechanically
  • Coordinate between production crew and prepress to maximize product quality
  • Work with production personnel to improve print quality and efficiency
  • Clean and maintain the press room - may include mopping and cleaning duties
  • Schedule: Typically, at first you may change shifts to get experience with multiple types of press runs before settling in on a standard shift and schedule. Night shift is where we need more staffing currently.

**Responsibilities** **in** **clude:**
+ Making corrections to existing files
+ Resizing files into new trim sizes
+ Review and update older file assets to meet current design standards and guidelines
+ Logging and reviewing files for reprint requests, ensuring timely management of due dates and schedules
+ Creating reduction or enlargement samples

Opportunity

Skybound is looking for an owner-minded Director, Publishing to lead planning efforts on our recently announced title, Invincible VS along with other games within our portfolio. Whether launching wholly original titles or working with established properties like The Walking Dead or Invincible , the Director, Publishing is the central owner of the go-to-market strategy for our titles. You’ll collaborate with Product Development, Marcomms and other teams to work across Skybound in linear content, social media, owned channels, licensing, and comics to give each game its best shot at success.

As Director, Publishing, you will leverage insights to build a go-to-market strategy which you lead a team to execute. You’ll inform the initial bedrock of game investments via the product P&L, bringing to bear strong genre sensibilities and a broad knowledge of previous titles and player communities. You’ll work closely with Game teams to advocate for players, leveraging research and market trends to inform feature investments and quality standards. You’ll collaborate across Skybound to create and implement a game launch and player communication strategy across community, digital storefronts, influencers, content creation, social channels, events and trade shows, paid media and PR.

Reports: This position will report to Skybound’s VP of Games Marketing

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop comprehensive go-to-market plans for Skybound games by prioritizing features and target audiences, defining unique value propositions, creating messaging approaches that will reach players, and integrating first-parties and partnerships.
  • Create and validate product positioning to hone the player message and focus marketing plans and product development from the earliest stages.
  • Shape the Publishing disciple for Skybound, ensuring excellence with how we publish games.
  • Manage individuals within Publishing, creating operational success within the discipline.
  • Partner with the Production and Product Management teams to fully understand the product slate, represent their vision in our marketing campaigns, and provide feedback as needed to shape future product development.
  • Brief internal and external teams through our launches – kicking off teams and ensuring alignment in product positioning and marketing efforts across the marketing funnel.
  • Drive the continuous development of our player and audience profiles – using data and consumer research to identify key insights, trends, and opportunities to create tailored product messaging and feed into go-to-market plans.
  • Inform green light decisions by supporting development of a product P&L and investment recommendation informed by player communities, research, and your own sensibilities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in consumer and product marketing or publishing, preferably in games
  • Track record for launching and sustaining digital products or services
  • Results-oriented, with an understanding of how to apply ROI and KPI’s within marketing
  • Skilled in data analysis and reporting, particularly for launch campaigns with marketing investment
  • Strong product management experience, with understanding of live service product life cycles
  • Polished professional who is comfortable serving as the main contact for executives, internal stakeholders, partners, and third-party agencies
  • Ability to partner, collaborate and influence stakeholders based on your points of view, rooted in the needs of the player
  • Strong spoken/written communicator with the ability to develop creative, clear, and concise storytelling for a variety of audiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
  • Proven experience in product marketing within the entertainment industry, with in-depth knowledge of the gaming, streaming and esports ecosystems.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit is a must, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with product setup and quality control across storefronts including Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Epic Games Store, and retail portals such as Amazon Vendor Central.
  • Maintain and update content across partner portals ensuring accurate metadata, assets, and configurations.
  • Actively use JIRA to create, track, and manage tickets for internal submission workflows, partner deliverables, and cross-functional requests.

What You'll Need To Be Successful
  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 2 years of experience in video game publishing or the video game industry, 3 years preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA or similar ticketing systems to manage workflows and operational processes.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing portals such as Steamworks, Xbox Partner Center, PlayStation Publishing Portal, and Amazon Vendor Central strongly preferred
  • Strong data hygiene and maintenance skills; able to create and manage complex trackers in spreadsheets and systems as well as ability to create reports for performance-based tracking.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to track multiple submissions and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Clear, professional communication skills; able to coordinate with cross-functional teams and external partners effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude toward problem solving and continuous improvement.

This role does not require regular in-office presence and can primarily be performed remotely. However, onsite presence may be needed for team meetings, events, or collaborative work sessions. Priority consideration will be given to candidates who are local and open to occasional onsite work.

The pay range listed in this job posting reflects the full salary range for this position. While we provide this range to offer transparency, our target hiring range typically falls between the minimum and the midpoint, allowing for growth potential within the role.
