A Brief Overview

The Quality Control Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the  Quality Control Laboratories ensures compliance with Good laboratory practices (GLPs) and accurate, defensible test results.

The Supervisor directly manages Analytical Chemists, Lab Technicians, Microbiologists, Micro Technicians and Lab Administrators.  The supervisor coordinates test schedules, and ensures the quality

and accuracy of all testing, media preparation and sample analysis.  They are responsible for training staff, evaluating performance, and ensuring timely reporting of test results in accordance with client requirements.

What you will do

· Supervise Analytical Chemists, Lab Technicians, Microbiologists, Micro Technicians and Lab Administrators, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and SOPs.

Ensure compliance with GLPs and proper testing procedures, including media preparation and microbial culture handling.

Supervise the flow of samples through the lab and oversee documentation. Review and release laboratory results for accuracy and completeness, ensuring they meet client specifications and internal

· Plan and organize staffing schedules based on laboratory test volumes. Provide training and development for new and existing laboratory personnel. Conduct performance evaluations, provide

regular feedback, and manage coaching and disciplinary actions as needed.

· Oversee all lab testing including microbiological testing and media QC, ensuring that testing follows established protocols and

This is what we are looking for:

We are seeking a quality control supervisor. This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of construction experience, preferably in airfield, heavy highway, or heavy civil construction and preferably with experience in materials testing as it relates to construction. The right candidate will be on the project site during all phases of construction making sure that the project is constructed as per plans and specifications. The position requires that the individual be able to communicate and disseminate information both to key staff members internally as well as to prime and sub-contractors, government representatives, material suppliers, and third party testing agencies.

The candidate must be able to read and interpret plans and specs, have an understanding of construction materials, techniques, and equipment, be capable with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, and be able to perform basic on site testing of materials.

This position is a project based position, and will require travel from project to project. Duration of stay at a particular project will depend on the specifics and location of each job, but the position will require short and long term travel on a project by project basis. Additionally, working shifts will vary seasonally with weather, but night work will be required based on local conditions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

* Implement and reinforce the Quality Control Plan of the Project.
* Oversee and ensure QC for all the activities of the project
* Manage QC daily reports and delegate to supporting staff required duties
* Manage the USACE/NAVFAC Three Phase Quality Control Process, which may include preparatory meetings, initial and follow up inspections and create all required documentation on all definable features of work
* Manage documentation of work and required submittals with office staff and USACE interface software
* Oversee testing and coordinate with the activities of the on-site third party lab
* Managing, scheduling, and directing the activities of direct subordinates on the project site
* Know and understand project plans, specifications, and other contract documents
* Ensure compliance to contract plans, specifications, relevant ASTM, COE, and applicable test procedures, as well as additional relevant contract documents
* Perform daily checks to assure control activities, including testing/compliance, and document all results
* Determine, communicate, and document deficiencies and ensure they are corrected in a timely manner
* Maintain current records providing factual evidence that required quality control activities and/or tests have been performed
* Participate and document all completion inspections punch-out, pre-final and final acceptance
* Act as liaison and a point of contact for the USACE and SWP
* Track required submittals, project RFI's, and any contract changes/change orders/VE's for project and help to disseminate information and implementation to project team
* Monitor all scheduled activities, plans, weather, materials, deliveries, and construction methods to assure highest quality project can be delivered

Qualifications:

Working Conditions:

This is a fast paced working environment. We come to work to work. The working conditions will include travel to all parts of the western United States and possibly abroad (primarily pacific islands). Hours will be mandated by project activities but night work will be required, some weekend work will be required, and some extended hours will be required. This will be a salaried position where the right applicant will be directly supervising and scheduling the activities of one to two individuals on the project site. There will be some exposure to normal construction materials such as concrete, cement, fly ash, slag cement, aggregates, epoxies, solvents, etc. There will be exposure to loud noises both from construction equipment and nearby jet engines. There will be exposure to weather both hot and cold as this position will require extended outdoor working hours. There will be times where close quarter contact will be requires such as working in small office trailers. At times the primary access to restrooms will be on site j-johns.

Ensures that adequate supplies to perform checks are maintained at the fuel island. Communicates with the shop foreman regarding supplies and oil inventory dispensed into equipment.
+ Twice a week, checks tires for damage and proper air pressure. Tire damage must be reported to the shop immediately.
+ Inspects all vehicles during fueling or on a regularly scheduled basis for physical damage. Any damage will be reported immediately to the Manager or designee.
+ Maintains the required inventory in the spill barrel and notifies the Manager any time supplies are used or replaced.
+ In the event of a fuel spill, takes all necessary steps to contain the spill. The Manager or designee must be notified immediately.
+ Maintains adequate inventories and supplies to make minor repairs and facilitate the washing of vehicles.
+ Cleans interiors and exteriors of vehicles as required to maintain cleanliness of the fleet.
+ Performs maintenance of buildings and grounds to include yard cleanliness, grass and weeds or any other yard projects that are assigned as necessary.
+ Performs any other management requests or directives as requested.

Job Summary:

The Quality Control Supervisor will directly support the General Manager, and will indirectly support the Corporate Quality Analyst at Med for America in Desert Hot Springs, CA. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Quality Control Technicians, ensuring compliance with company processes and legal standards, managing staff performance, and reporting data insights to leadership. This position requires collaborating cross-functionally with other departments as needed to identify or support corrective actions, continuous improvement initiatives, and other operational needs.


SCHEDULE: MONDAY - FRIDAY, 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM


Duties/Responsibilities :

  • Train, supervise, and lead QC Technicians inspecting products at all stages of the manufacturing process (before, during, and after production) to ensure incoming or outgoing products achieve company and legal standards, including raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
    • Monitor to ensure QC staff adheres to established company processes and standards.
    • Communicate performance-related feedback to the team, identifying and executing opportunities for retraining or labor reallocation as needed.
    • Oversee QC staff schedules and labor allocation, ensuring accurate timekeeping/payroll. Ensure labor resources are effectively and efficiently hired and distributed.
    • Conduct QC staff performance reviews.
    • Develop QC personnel by holding team meetings and providing guidance, mentorship, and a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Monitor and report KPIs to ensure compliance with applicable cannabis regulations as well as DreamFields' internal specifications, policies, and procedures. Communicate and address any quality- or compliance-related issues or insights with urgency and clarity.
    • Collect, verify, and accurately report QC data from Technicians every 2 hours.
    • Review, analyze, and report data reported by QC Technicians to leadership daily.
    • Monitor and report on environmental conditions daily.
    • Conduct and document daily spot-checks of QC Technicians' work.
    • Collaborate cross-departmentally to support nonconformance investigations (root cause analyses) and identify corrective actions.
    • Contribute to error reduction and process enhancements.
  • Cross-functionally communicate risks and actions needed to mitigate or eliminate them.
  • Foster and drive a "right first time" manufacturing culture requiring a cross-departmental sense of shared responsibility for quality outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and propose SOP revisions as needed.
  • Support internal audits to identify, track, and correct process deviations or product-related deficiencies, ensuring accurate and thorough recordkeeping.
  • Lead implementation of updated standards or procedures at the Technician level.
  • Support General Manager or corporate leadership with continuous improvement or growth initiatives, including but not limited to quality trials/experiments or new product launches.
    • Oversee tests or experiments and report data and actionable insights necessary to drive decisions in line with company goals. Propose data-driven recommendations.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have reliable transportation.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to accurately inspect products to identify defects, count and transcribe numerical data, and verify product labeling.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including the ability to read, edit, and interpret spreadsheets, SOPs, and technical documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide effective coaching and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Must be able to effectively follow and provide instructions and ask questions as necessary to fulfill roles and expectations.
  • Ability to maintain and enforce a high level of cleanliness, organization, and sanitary work environment standards.
  • Analytical mindset with strong observational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to use data to drive decisions and resolve defects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be adaptable and open to change.
  • Knowledge of and ability to enforce workplace health and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to enforce Good Manufacturing Practices - the human, environmental, and other manufacturing conditions necessary to achieve high-quality cannabis products.

Education and Experience:

  • HS Diploma or GED required. College degree preferred.
  • Experience in overseeing and coaching a team is required.
  • Experience in a quality control or quality assurance role in cannabis or a similarly regulated industry is required.
  • Familiarity with the Plan-Do-Act-Check (PDAC) cycle of change management is preferred.
