You'll play a key role in leading research projects behind the everyday innovation and renovation of our pet food products. Together, we'll explore information systems, quality assurance, supply chain, accounting, human resources, production, engineering, and operations performance to understand the collaborative nature of R&D engineering. You'll also work closely with our Corporate R&D team in St. Louis, Missouri to focus on research projects and develop a keen understanding of the science behind our factory equipment and products.

· Master plant process flows, utility flows, capacities, procedures, and practices.
· Lead continuous improvement efforts to improve process sustainability, capacity, and efficiency.
· Plan, organize, and perform trials and experiments (pilot and factory scale) to complete process and product development projects.
· Lead capital projects in factories and Pilot Plants in accordance with engineering standards, some travel will be necessary.
· Handle development and implementation of product line extensions using new and existing equipment in the factory.
· Research and propose R&D projects utilizing technical innovations/renovations applicable to Nestlé Purina's business strategy.
· Participate in quarterly TCU Engineering calls, as well as the TCU Global Engineering Conference in St. Louis (when scheduled).
**Requirements:**
· Must be open to relocation to one or more of our 24 production facilities across the U.S.
· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or related) attained or expected by June 2026.
**Other:**
· Prior co-op, practicum experience, or manufacturing experience preferred.

The approximate pay for this position is $85,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.

Your Role: R&D Project Management Intern
As an R&D Project Management Intern, you will work under the direct supervision of an experienced Project Manager and assist the Strategic Project Management Organization in the development and organization of project management dashboards, communication tools, and business process documentation for R&D. This role provides hands-on experience through exposure to day-to-day coordination, execution, and monitoring of real-world product development in animal health. The PM intern will gain a foundational understanding of project management principles used to drive successful outcomes in product development and exposure to the drug development procedures for the animal health industry.
Your Responsibilities:
- Communication: Support communication with team members and stakeholders and assist with creating standardized project status reports.
- Documentation: Update project management business process documentation by creating a template and migrating legacy content into the new structure.
- Data Management: Use project management tools to collect, organize, and report on R&D project data and performance.
- Transformation: Contribute to the strategic modernization of SPMO operations by investigating and recommending innovative tools and platforms, with a focus on AI.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
- Education: Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program from an accredited college or university. A science degree is preferred.
- Experience: Previous internship, project coordination, or leadership experience in academic or extracurricular settings is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with strong attention to detail.
