SUMMARY
The Product Development Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating new product development and product improvement initiatives across the organization. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to manage multiple cross-functional teams and external partners. The Project Manager ensures that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with the company's strategic, product, and cost objectives. The Project Manager's primary function is to coordinate and be the central point of contact for all necessary internal cross-functional groups and external vendor activities to bring a project from concept to completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
* Lead the coordination and execution of assigned project plans, ensuring each phase is delivered on time and within budget.
* Schedule and facilitate recurring project meetings with cross-functional team members designated by functional leaders.
* Monitor project progress and performance, providing timely updates and status reports to stakeholders.
* Proactively identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues to ensure successful outcomes.
* Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages open communication and creative problem-solving.
* Support the coordination and execution of projects involving external contract manufacturers, as assigned, working closely with relevant internal departments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not require supervisor responsibilities, however, must be able to effectively work with multi-functional teams in the organization who participate in project work by indirect reporting relationships. Responsibilities may include training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising project team performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree in Science, Business, Manufacturing, or related field.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of project management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but demonstrated experience in other industries will be considered.
* Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification desired
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to make sound decisions independently.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
* Willingness to travel as needed to support project execution

This Project Manager is responsible for driving the success of New Product Development Projects and/or key Initiatives. They will lead multi-location, cross functional teams to launch new products using a structured development process. The projects may involve Mechanical and/or Electronic developments of various complexities.
What You Will Do:
* Works closely with Product Managers and Senior Program Managers to capture product/project requirements, scope and success metrics.
* Leads a cross-functional team - Product Management, Engineering, Design, Test, Finance, Operations and other functions to establish project development strategy, schedule, product costs, budget and resource needs.
* Work With the team to establish the execution plan weighing tradeoffs. Continuously tracks project activities, risks, and issues to ensure programs progress on schedule and within budget while meeting established customer requirements.
* Works directly with the team when needed to drive issues to closure, and/or escalates issues and mitigation recommendations to upper management.
* Resolves people and team dynamic issues for the effective performance of the program team in completing their assignments.
* May work with other program managers on interdependencies with other simultaneous projects.
* Schedules and leads timely status review meetings, and formal project Reviews with Senior Management.
* Ability to travel up to 20%.
What You Need to Succeed:
* Experience in new product development programs from concept to production using a structured process.

* Tenacity in coordination of project team members to achieve program timelines and outcomes.
* Self-starter with a desire to make a significant impact on the project execution.

* Good understanding of consumer products, software, and hardware development preferred.
* Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including project management software.
EDUCATION and/or WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Bachelor's Degree required
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in New Product Development and/or Support
* CaPM or other Project/Program Management Certifications preferred.

The Project Manager is responsible for driving NPD (New Product Development) project-level accountability and coordinating adherence to project milestones with the ultimate objective of delivering projects per schedule, within budget. THIS INDIVIDUAL MUST HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING WITH EMBEDDED SOFTWARE OR FIRMWARE. The Project Manager performs a variety of tasks including but not limited to coordinating all resources and stakeholders, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, summarizing and communicating the progress of projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying sound engineering design knowledge as well as project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques combined with Heath's NPD Process to deliver market ready products.
Candidates MUST be local to the Houston, TX area or be willing to relocate to Houston to be considered as this is a HYBRID ROLE.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for delivering new product developments in accordance with the New Product Development (NPD) Process, a process designed to manage and steer products through the product development cycle.
- Develop project plans as per NPD process, and apply Project Management skills to drive assigned NPD projects for business. This includes developing and maintaining regular cross functional meeting and reporting progress in standard form and as per cadence.
- Define the scope of the project in collaboration with management and technical leads
- Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc) required to complete the project
- Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
- Review the project schedule and budget with management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule and budget as required
- Execute the project according to the project plan
- Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured
- Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
- Perform as a technical resource as needed based on career experience
- Assist in keeping the monthly decks updated, metrics charts updated, and actions plans reviewed and updated in timely manner.
- Assist in managing engineering testing and prototyping setup.
- Coordinate the entire product development process from beginning to end
- Review and become familiar with product specifications on assigned projects
- Coordinate with various departments (Sales, Marketing, Engineering, IT, Manufacturing) to fulfill project requirements
- Coordinate Milestone and Gate Exits and ensure high quality for key deliverables
- Run key meetings and coordinate major milestone events (Design Reviews, Concept Brainstorming, etc.)
- Stay focused on the critical path items/leading indicators for various NPD projects and drive proper action plan around them along with the support of the team members
- Manage project risks and mitigation planning
- Other duties as assigned by manager
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE:
- 3 to 5 years engineering design and 2 years of project management experience in delivering new mechanical/electrical products that use micro controller/processor-based design.
- BS in an Engineering field is required ( i.e Electrical, Mechanical)
- Strong technical background in electrical, or similar engineering field
- Project development management of instrumentation or battery powered devices containing firmware
- New Product Development Process experience
- Must have experience managing firmware development (and written some C, C++, or Python) and understand embedded software.
- Knowledge of Microsoft software products (Word, Excel, Project, etc.)
- Strong experience managing projects using recognized project management tools.
- Ability to prioritize tasks while being flexible to the dynamic needs and changes of management and customers
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (optional)
- Demonstrated experience in leading project teams that deliver successful results
- High level of interpersonal skills, capable of working within a cross-functional team environment
- Detail oriented and self-motivated, excellent communication and presentation skills
- Some experience in project management in the areas of hardware, software/firmware development is preferred.
Travel: This role requires the ability to travel about 25% of the time throughout the US & Internationally to coordinate project activities
SALARY RANGE: $115,000 - $135,000 plus annual bonus potential, 401k, and health benefits
