General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is excited to invite a dedicated Radiology Specialist to become a vital part of our MedStar Health Urgent Care team! In this role, you will engage in clinical and administrative tasks within our healthcare systems, adhering to established policies and procedures.

As a Radiology Specialist, you will work collaboratively under the supervision of a physician, conducting patient intake, following established protocols, and performing venipuncture and laboratory tests while ensuring optimal patient care and safety. Primary Duties:

• Comply with MedStar Health's Code of Conduct and Compliance plan; ensure adherence to governmental and accreditation guidelines, completing all required training in safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR, EMR, compliance, and service standards. Maintain a clean, stocked, and sterilized environment, and prepare patient rooms to ensure quality care delivery.

• Embrace innovative technologies and the electronic health record system. Manage patient flow through clear communication with patients and their families, showing consistent regard for their comfort and time. Perform a variety of tests and general patient care, including spirometry/PFTs, obtaining patient vitals and BMI, EKGs, vision and hearing tests, and splinting, all under the supervision of a medical provider. Conduct follow-up calls regarding lab tests and clinical results in a professional manner.

• Carry out venipuncture and perform selected laboratory testing as appropriate; initiate care pathways in compliance with established policy. Perform X-rays based on medical provider orders, forwarding images for radiologist overreads while maintaining equipment safety standards. Promote respectful interactions with patients, families, vendors, and colleagues; uphold professional communication at all times.

• Deliver care that aligns with MedStar's mission, vision, and values, fostering patient confidence and loyalty by exceeding expectations. Assist in patient discharges and ensure clarity of instructions for patients and their family members. Engage in new clinical initiatives and seek opportunities to enhance care delivery and patient experience.

• Support team members during busy periods, understanding and participating in patient intake at the front desk. Assist medical providers in patient exams and educational efforts. Under medical supervision, prepare and administer oral medications and injections (intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal) once competency is demonstrated to the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or designee.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree required, along with completion of an accredited Radiology Technologist program.

• ARRT certification required.

• Must possess a state license for Maryland, Virginia, or DC.

• Preferably, have completed an externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting.

• 2 years of experience in a medical office is preferred.

• BLS certification required.

The Radiologic Technologist is the primary liaison between patients, departmental physicians, and other members of the support team. The Radiologic Technologist must:

• One year of post-graduate experience is strongly preferred.
