**Job Summary:**
Takes x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and provides support for the imaging department. This position performs plain films, fluoro, portables, and OR exams and/or plain films and Bone Density (BD registry required).
**Job Responsibilities and Requirements:**
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Explains procedures to patient to ensure understanding. Provides appropriate educational material.
+ Transports patients to and from clinical areas and verifies patient identity according to policies and procedures. Prepares patient for radiology exam by positioning the patient for the procedure.
+ Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
+ Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
+ Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
+ Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
+ Ensures equipment is properly functioning. Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
+ Maintains a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms and any other areas in department.
+ May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when CT Technologist is not on site.
+ Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

A) Produces quality images by using appropriate exposure technique to ensure proper penetration of the area being radio graphed.

C) Document an appropriate patient history containing pertinent patient information regarding their condition and including patient limitations.
D) Physician orders are to be written and verified prior to the start of the exam.
E) Perform OR/Surgery cases using C-arms and portable machines efficiently.
F) Supervise and teach Radiology students exams and procedures as part of their clinical rotation, providing feedback to the Clinical Educator on their performance.
G) Communicates technical information in a manner appropriate for the intended person (patient, co-worker etc.).
H) Responds to changes in the workload using time to departmental advantage.

This position is responsible for performing radiological exams in a safe and prudent manner for the specific purpose of producing a diagnostic exam of the highest quality while creating a quality environment for the customer. Performs a full range of diagnostic radiography. The individual in the position reports to the Diagnostic Imaging Director. This position works closely with the Diagnostic Imaging team and other departments in order to provide complete patient care.

This is a full-time position working Thursday from 1pm- 11:30pm, 4pm - 2:30am Friday - Sunday.

EXTRA INCENTIVE:

Up to $15,000 sign on bonus, subject to two-year Hospital Sign on Advance Agreement. (External candidates only. )

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES (not limited to):

  • Technical factors: Automatic exposure control is used appropriately. Technical factors (kvp, ma, time and distance) are accurately utilized. Appropriate cassette is used (regular, grid, etc.), collimation and tomographic factors are employed and assistance is given to the attending physician during exams.

  • Positioning techniques: Appropriate body parts are imaged and identified, views are acquired, and immobilization is employed. Practices good sterile techniques.

  • Patient handling: Transports, transfers, and positions patients in a manner that is safe for the patient. Confirms that patient and exam preparations are appropriate. Evaluates patient's mental and physical condition in order to avoid hazardous situations and does not leave alone, if their safety is questioned.

  • Monitors patient needs.

  • Performs necessary paperwork and archiving.

  • Administers contrast media when appropriate.

  • Handles confidential information according to HIPAA regulations.

  • Acts as mentor to students from affiliated Radiology Technology Programs.

  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

  • Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.

  • Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.

  • Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization's values.

  • Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.

  • Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (not limited to):

  • Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification.

  • Registered – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, RT(R) required.

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (HCP) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position Summary

As a Radiological Technologist II on the X-Ray team, you will contribute to our quality care by producing diagnostic images using a variety of radiographic equipment, including fixed radiographic, O & C-Arms and fluoroscopic. You will perform radiographic procedures on neonate, children, adults, and geriatric patients.

**Qualifications**
**Education:**
+ Graduate of an JRCERT approved Radiologic Technology Training Program required
**License/Certification:**
+ Current CRT, CRT-Fluoro, ARRT and BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) certifications required
**Experience:**
+ A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiology Tech required
+ Applicants with less than 2 years of experience may be considered for Radiology Tech I
+ Excellent communication, interpersonal, prioritizing, decision making and multi-tasking skills required
+ Understanding of medical terminology and medical diagnoses required

**Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position:**
The Radiological Technologist is a certified health professional who, under the direction of an authorized user, is committed to applying the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation, in diagnostic radiology.
**Essential Job Functions:**
+ Obtains patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.

+ Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.

+ Operates radiographic equipment and accessories in accordance with the principles of ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable).

Responsibilities

Take radiologic films providing quality images to physicians to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems.

  • Prepare and position patients for imaging and select exposure factors accurately.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Observe patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity.
  • Monitor protocols and recommend updates or refinement as warranted.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Prevens patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
  • Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning.
  • Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
  • Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
