What You Will Do:

  • You will work with the Program Chief Engineer (PCE) to ensure products are developed and delivered within the allotted cost, schedule, technical quality and performance parameters

  • You will provide systems engineering technical leadership to RVS EO/IR infrared focalplane array (IR FPA) programs and special projects

  • You will regularly collaborate with a multidisciplinary team made up of Systems, Test, Software, Firmware, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers

  • You will actively manage engineering risks and opportunities with the PCE to ensure proactive execution

  • You will coordinate and compile Engineering inputs for proposals and present bid summaries to management

  • Lead technical support efforts for production and development activities

  • Oversee and direct trade studies, presenting comprehensive results to key stakeholders

  • Communicate technical findings and strategic solutions to leadership and customers effectively

  • Lead technical team to identify and resolve hardware, software, and system issues through detailed data analysis and debugging

  • Oversee/perform the update, development, maintenance, and improvement of requirements, concepts of operations, and define system interfaces

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related STEM discipline and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience

  • EO/IR system experience with hands on experience in the design, analysis, development, troubleshooting, and testing of EO subsystems, including familiarity with IR FPA technology

  • Experience developing product specifications and requirements management, including distilling and deriving requirements for lower-level subassemblies and components

  • Experience with system design, trade studies, optimization, and performance assessment

  • Experience creating and modifying documentation in support of reviews associated with formal gating events and testing, which may include System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), Consent to Ship Review (CTSR) and Test Data Review (TDR) packages.

  • Demonstrated team leadership skills and excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with to effectively communicate across experience bases

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Factory production and direct experience with IR FPA design and testing for tactical and/or space environments

  • Familiarity with vacuum packaging, dewar design, cryogenic cooling, and/or opto-mechanics

  • Experience with requirements Organization via DOORs

  • Experience creating analytical models and scripting for data analysis (MATLAB preferred)

  • Ability to effectively plan, lead, and execute root-cause and corrective-action (RCCA) efforts

  • Prior experience with ROIC wafer probing, fabrication, integration, verification, and validation for a complex EO/IR system.

  • EVMS Certification and demonstrated ability to manage Engineering team budgets and staffing demand

  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management

**Life Cycle Engineering (LCE)** is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Usable, Maintainable and delivered on time. LCE consists of multiple specialty disciplines that influence the design and architecture of Raytheon products. As a new System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs. You will perform MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400). You will be helping the team work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls. You will assist the lead in coordinating with customer safety representatives applying methods, standards, and techniques to provide clarification of system requirements to software, hardware, and test personnel to ensure design and architecture considerations are appropriately allocated to the system and horizontally integrated across the development teams. You will assist the lead in collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated person to gain experience as a System Safety Engineer to join us onsite in McKinney Texas.
**What You Will Do:**
+ Performing System Safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analyses
+ Briefing safety considerations at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
+ Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
+ Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
+ Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
+ Interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering
+ Assisting and attending System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives
**Qualifications You Must Have:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM).
+ This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
+ Experience with developing, implementing, and/or performing System Safety Program Plans, System Safety Engineering, Safety Assessments, Hazard Analyses or Hazard Tracking.
**Qualifications We Prefer:**
+ Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882
+ Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environment
+ Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472.
+ Coding experience or the ability to trace electrical wiring diagrams.

**What You Will Do:**

**Qualifications You Must Have:**
