**What you'll do:** You'll perform moderately complex substance abuse counseling work. Work involves planning, coordinating, and implementing substance abuse counseling activities; and coordinating with other departments to ensure the maximum utilization of resources available for chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.
**Essential Functions:**
1. Assists with substance abuse counseling and recovery skills training; participates in inmate orientation, educational and individual and process counseling groups in compliance with program standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
2. Participates in the development and implementation of a comprehensive treatment plan (CTP) which is developed based on results of an evaluation battery designed to assess inmate needs and risk associated with recidivism.
3. Maintains accurate and complete case reports, records, and statistics necessary for the evaluation of the program. Maintain confidentiality of inmate records. Compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate.
4. Participates in sessions designed to teach and practice complex life skills such as assertiveness, anger management, goal setting, managing criminality and changing thinking errors.
5. Implements follow-up and after-care plans for inmates that participate in the program prior to their release; and disseminates information on community resources for inmate placement in follow-up treatment.
6. Coordinates recovery-oriented support groups for inmates.
7. Assist in providing volunteer coordination, recovery literature libraries, time and space for open meetings, study groups, and sponsorship sessions.
8. Ensures the traditions and principles of alcoholics anonymous (AA) and narcotics anonymous (NA), SOS, Celebrate Recovery and all other recovery groups are respected.
9. Provides required training to inmates prior to their leading recovery-oriented support groups.
10. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
11. Must be actively engaging in and participating in the dorms while ensuring groups are being conducted and in compliance within the fidelity of the model.
12. Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property; adhere to safety practices.

**Education and Experience Requirements:**
+ Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
+ Must have one of the following licenses/certifications: a letter of registration as a Counselor Intern (LCDC-I); or current certification as Certified Criminal Justice Professional Applicant Status (CCJP-A); or a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) license from the Texas Department of State Health Services; or Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) as approved by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals.

**SUMMARY**
Under the supervision of the Program Director/Recovery Support Manager, an entry level position that provides the operational support to facilitate the delivery of optimal clinical services to patients.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
+ Ensures that patients adhere to the day-to-day program schedule, tracking attendance as required.
+ Monitors participation in program events and activities.
+ Conducts and documents appropriately room/bed checks (minimally every thirty minutes) to ensure resident safety and presence.
+ Conducts routine facility checks to ensure facility safety and security.
+ Reviews client property/items upon admission or receipt to ensure compliance with facility and program rules.
+ Conducts contraband searches and drug screen analysis administration in accordance with policies and procedures.
+ Assumes lead duties for shift(s) as assigned, which includes ensuring that the program schedule is followed, all duties are assigned and completed by team during the shift and critical incidents are reported to the Manager on Call and appropriately documented.
+ Mentor patients towards success in program including but not limited to behavior modification, program rules, schoolwork, job responsibilities and appropriate social interactions with peers, family and staff.
+ Provides safe, timely, and supervised transportation of patients to off-site appointments or activities as needed.
+ Maintains accurate documentation in staff log, incident reports, facility forms, and/or other reports in a timely manner in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations.
+ Assist with filing and data-entry.
+ Participates and facilitates the occurrence of shift change. Ensures that all occurrences/incidents are documented appropriately, facility and cabinets are secure, supplies are stocked for next shift, and that all keys and other property are accounted.
+ Attends and participates in staff meetings as needed. Provides essential information to counseling staff on client utilization of concepts, work on treatment plan goals, skill development, etc.
+ Assist in the medication room, as needed.
**OVERNIGHT CAVEAT**
+ Makes hourly tours of the facility, recording all pertinent activity.
+ Manages after hours incidents and emergencies, as required, notifying the appropriate staff.

Reports to the Operations Supervisor.
Oversee all individuals safety and security while on shift.
Maintain positive and professional rapport with individuals community.
Maintain an accurate count of individuals in your care at all times.
Conduct scheduled and non-scheduled counts.
Participate in pre/post shift debriefings.
Prepare written reports (Incident Reports, Statements, etc.)
