The Marathon Anacortes Refinery is seeking highly motivated Operators to join our team. Refinery Operators work together to monitor, regulate, troubleshoot and safely operate complex process equipment. Operators refine c rude oil and other feedstocks into transportation fuels, such as conventional gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel and other petroleum products. To ensure safe operations, new hires must successfully complete operator qualification training. Overtime is required for this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operators are responsible for monitoring units under their control while keeping product specifications and yields at a maximum. With knowledge of the process units, they must be able to assist other unit operators in their training and day-to-day operations. Other primary responsibilities will include:
+ Managing and monitoring the outside equipment and control functions involved in the Refinery processes.
+ Gathering data from these functions and analyzing and interpreting it into appropriate action as operational adjustments or recommendations.
+ Must be able to start up and shut down the units and safely operate during process upsets.
+ Possessing an in-depth knowledge of the physical portion of the plant.
Minimum Qualifications
+ High School graduate or GED equivalent, required.
+ Must currently hold or can qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at ( /twic
+ Willing to work 12-hour rotating shift schedule including weekends, holidays and overtime, required. Current schedule is seven days on, seven days off.
+ Willing to be on-call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies.
+ Valid driver's license required.
Physical Requirements
Must be willing to climb ladders and work at height. Work performed at ground level and at heights on concrete, metal grating, gravel, asphalt and piping surfaces, while climbing, lifting 40 pounds plus, and working in confined spaces. Operators are expected to be able to wear all protective equipment including self-contained breathing apparatus. Operators must use hand tools, and work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Safety
Operators work in a safety-sensitive environment and successfully complete a rigorous pre-employment assessment process, drug/alcohol and medical screenings, and a background check.
Schedule
Refinery Operators work rotating days and night shift work on a seven (7) on seven (7) off schedule and must be available for overtime.
Pay and Benefits:
Pay range for position (reflects current pay rates, subject to increase):
+ Starting Rate/Initial Training: $34.82/ hour.
+ Once Unit Qualified: $1.63/ hour.
+ Operators can make up to 55.27/ hour depending on qualifications and time in position.

About MPC's Anacortes Refinery: The Anacortes refinery is located about 70 miles north of Seattle on Puget Sound and has a total crude oil capacity of 119,000 barrels per calendar day (bpcd). The refinery processes Canadian crude, domestic crude from North Dakota and Alaska North Slope and international crudes to manufacture gasoline, distillates, heavy fuel oil and propane. The refinery distributes products through pipeline connected terminals and MPC's marine terminal via ships and barges.

Entry level operator at the Big West Oil, North Salt Lake Refinery. The refinery operator will work independently and with other personnel to safely maintain and operate equipment and processes. Some of the processes involved use hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure. Typical working conditions include: outside weather and elements, blowing air, heat, noise, vibration, and occasionally working from heights and confined spaces. Operators must follow safe work practices including the regular wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The Operator will be responsible for grain handling and oilseed production equipment to meet the quality and production requirements to ensure on time supply of products for the customer.

Work closely with colleagues in other Wood Mackenzie research teams to build a robust, integrated view across commodity markets and their constituent assets
Pro-actively contribute to methodology and modelling improvements
Present the outlook for the oil refining sector to clients and prospects in meetings and via web-calls and where appropriate, engage with the press to build Wood Mackenzies reputation
Work with the product managers of the evolving suite of downstream oil research offerings to deliver high quality content, which clearly communicates our analysis to clients. Contribute to development plans for the products, providing ideas and support for enhancements and improvements
Respond to internal and external enquiries regarding oil refineries in a timely and professional manner
Provide expert input on oil refining and associated markets to consulting projects in conjunction with the consulting team
Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to service clients and grow the client base
About You
You have demonstrable interest and relevant experience in the oil refining sector. Experience as an engineer or analyst in the refining or chemicals sector would be a distinct advantage. You are highly numerate, with a high attention to detail and proven analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling you to formulate leading-edge analysis from a variety of data and information. You are focused on continuous improvement and play a key role in implementing better ways of working.
You have effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the presentation skills necessary to present your findings to industry participants at a range of levels. This is coupled with your ability to communicate highly complex and detailed market analysis, delivering messages that are easily understood. You have a proven ability to work as part of a team making a tangible contribution to team goals, possibly involving multiple locations.
You thrive in a collaborative, commercial and client-centric environment. You will have a proven dedication to meeting the needs of clients and responding to feedback to make service improvements. The way in which you work enables you to build strong, collaborative relationships and influence at all levels. Job Description
The **Operator Trainee, Lake Charles Refinery** works to keep their assigned process unit/area operating safely and at specific production/run rates. Some of the processes involved use hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure. Typical working conditions include outside weather and elements, blowing air, heat, noise, vibration and occasionally working from heights and confined spaces. Operators must follow safe work practices including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The anticipated start date for this class of Operators is January 2026. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

**Responsibilities May Include:**
+ Demonstrating awareness and commitment to safety
+ Maintaining equipment and operations
+ Taking samples/readings of various process streams

+ Participating in safety reviews

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
+ Must have a valid driver's license
+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent
+ Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card TWIC). Information can be found at Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform/comply with the following:
+ Work overtime
+ Read technical procedures and materials in English
+ Learn computer software associated with process operations
+ Work shift schedule, including but not limited to days, nights, weekend, holidays, rotating shift

+ Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel- toe shoes, ear and eye protection)

+ Maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)

**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Associate's degree or higher in Process Technology or Engineering
+ 1 or more year(s) of direct work experience in manufacturing, heavy industry (including oil & gas), public safety, and/or military
The **Lake Charles Refinery** is located in Westlake, Louisiana. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. Facilities also include a specialty coker and calciner. The refinery processes a mixture of light to heavy, low- and high sulfur and low- and high-acid crude oils. It receives domestic, Canadian and other foreign crude oil through truck, pipeline, marine transportation and terminals, including the Beaumont and Clifton Ridge terminals and the Bayou Bridge Pipeline. Lake Charles produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include off-road diesel, home heating oil, feedstock for our Excel Paralubes joint venture, specialty graphite petroleum coke and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed in the southeastern and eastern United States by truck, rail car, barge or pipelines and exported to Latin America and West Africa.
The starting hourly contract rate for Operator Trainees is $37.23 per hour. Once fully qualified, Outside Operator contract rate is $0.26 and fully qualified Console Operator contract rate is 51.46.
