This position offers the unique opportunity to contribute to critical projects and strategic initiatives from anywhere in the US, leveraging advanced simulation tools and deep industry knowledge. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of refining operations, process design, safety protocols, and performance optimization. You will be instrumental in driving efficiency, ensuring compliance, and implementing innovative solutions across various refining units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct process design and simulation studies for refinery unit upgrades, debottlenecking, and new installations using industry-standard software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
  • Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and other engineering documentation.
  • Perform mass and energy balance calculations, equipment sizing, and process control strategy development.
  • Identify operational challenges and develop solutions to improve process efficiency, product yield, and energy consumption.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and company standards.
  • Lead process hazard analyses (PHAs) and HAZOP studies to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Provide technical support to plant operations and maintenance teams, troubleshooting process issues and recommending corrective actions.
  • Evaluate new technologies and methodologies for potential implementation in refining operations.
  • Develop operational guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, operations, and R&D.

A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field is required, with a Master's degree being a strong asset. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the oil and gas refining industry is essential. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are paramount. Experience with process simulation software and a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects in a remote setting are required. This role demands a proactive approach and the ability to influence stakeholders.
