Summary

Operate Tractor -Trailer combination between Company/Customer facilities, in order to pick up and deliver freight in a legal, safe, timely, and efficient manner to include drop, hook, spot or otherwise interchange equipment for loading and unloading at various locations, as assigned. The expectation for this position, the driver will be away from home domicile for an extended period of time, unless otherwise directed by management. Driver is expected to perform above duties in a professional manner at all times as he/she is a representative of the Perdue Farms Brand.

This position is a piece rate position and is paid $ .65 per mile completed. Annual bonus (variable depending on performance) as well as overtime may be available.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Maneuver and deliver/backhaul truck loads of product and materials to plants, customers, and distributors as assigned.

  2. Observe and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements regarding hours of service, log book, vehicle inspections, load inspections, and securing load. To include utilizing electronic logging device (paper logs when needed), on board vehicle tracking system in efficient manner.

  3. Operate a tractor and trailer in a legal/safe manner consistent with all Federal, State and Local laws, regulations, and Company policies. To include the utilization of all on board safety features.

  4. Complete and submit all Company paperwork to include but not limited to manifest, bill of lading, proof of delivery pay envelopes, overage, shortage, damaged claims, and trip reports.

  5. As assigned, the physical process of loading and unloading of product may be required.

  6. Responsible for seal integrity and the reporting of an accurate /verified case count and condition of product during deliveries

Minimum Education

Valid CDL License

High School Graduate or GED

Experience Requirements

Minimum Two years over the road Tractor/Trailer driving experience with trailers preferred.

One Year over the road driving experience with degree from accredited driving school.

Experience Preferred

Strong communication skills.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  1. Able to drive a tractor with a trailer.
  2. Able to remain seated for extended periods of time up to the limits established by DOT regulations.
  3. Able to withstand bouncing and vibration from truck and road conditions.
  4. Able to lift boxes up to 100 pounds to load/unload products.
  5. Exposed to fuel and oil spills.

Job Purpose: The Regional Driver transports goods and equipment from one location to another. This role is "at home" each night.

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Loads and hauls oversize loads after completing pre and post trip inspections on trucks and trailers and ensuring loads are secure.
  2. Contacts customers to manage arrangements for unloading.
  3. Ties down / secures loads. Assists in loading/unloading. Tarps as necessary. Performs visual verification checks of loads prior to moving vehicle. On initial hook/unhook, visually verifies everything is moving correctly; i.e. brakes released and not dragging tires.
  4. Operates various types of trailers and vehicles.
  5. Works on, washes, and cleans trucks and trailers as needed.
  6. Completes necessary paperwork and works in yard when needed.
  7. Maintains awareness of preventive maintenance and inspections on assigned vehicles. Communicates maintenance needs on assigned vehicles to supervisor as needed.
  8. Uses EDL (electronic driver log) and / or maintains detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  9. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Secures tools, materials and equipment at end of day.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Delivers Soli Organic product to distribution centers, warehouses, stores, and other customer locations.

May support our linehaul division between facilities as needed.

The driver will be required to stay out overnight or multiple nights as needed.

Product Delivery: Efficiently pick up and deliver the company's products from plants and warehouses to distribution centers and grocery stores using refrigerated trucks. Safely Operate commercial vehicles over intercity routes, spanning multiple states.

Documentation and Compliance: Ensure complete and accurate Department of Transportation (DOT) logs, whether electronic or manual, as required. Maintain company vehicle by submitting Maintenance Defect reports and reconcile with the appropriate company representative. Obtain and submit receipts, bills of lading, and signatures for delivered goods promptly.

Loading and Unloading: Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions, ensuring proper vehicle and loading equipment alignment. Load and unload products by hand, utilizing hand carts and pallet jacks to prevent damage and ensure load stability. Break down delivery loads when necessary, maintaining product standards and safety.

Route Management: Deliver products within the assigned route schedule and time windows. Immediately inform the management team of any deviations from the schedule.

Safety and Equipment Operation: Safely operate all assigned equipment, including hand carts, pallets, load bars, and personal protective equipment. Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies.

Warehouse and Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment inside and outside the truck. Assist in ensuring sanitary conditions in warehouses and yards to comply with safety regulations.

Returns and Additional Responsibilities: Handle damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork. Pick up raw materials (boxes and packaging materials) as needed.

Training and Communication: Attend training sessions and company meetings for additional training and to stay updated on the Department of Transportation and other regulations. Obtain authorization for Lumper services, if needed, from the Transportation Department or site General Manager.

Safety Reporting: Report all observed safety concerns promptly to the Transportation Manager / Supervisor.

Regulatory Adherence: Adhere to all Department of Transportation requirements/regulations, protocols for Food Safety, and Soli Organic policies and procedures.

Additional Tasks: Transport bulk containers (totes) as required. - Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or another member of the management team.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: 1 year of previous truck driving experience, driving record must meet company requirements and have a valid medical card.

Language Fluency: Must be able to read write and speak English.

Technology: Be able to navigate on a tablet or hand-held device.

Licensure: Must have a valid Class A license in good standing.

Credentials: Tanker Endorsement

REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Manual Dexterity: Ability to quickly move your hands and arms sufficiently to grasp, hold, finely manipulate and assemble herbs and packaging.

Muscle Strength & Flexibility: Ability to bend, reach, stoop, squat, pivot, turn, balance, walk, push, pull, and lift and carry up to 60lbs.

3. Operate a tractor and trailer in a legal/safe manner consistent with all Federal, State and Local laws, regulations, and Company policies. To include the utilization of all on board safety features.
4. Complete and submit all Company paperwork to include but not limited to manifest, bill of lading, proof of delivery pay envelopes, overage, shortage, damaged claims, and trip reports.
5. As assigned, the physical process of loading and unloading of product may be required.
6. Responsible for seal integrity and the reporting of an accurate /verified case count and condition of product during deliveries
**Minimum Education**

**Experience Requirements**
Minimum Two years over the road Tractor/Trailer driving experience with trailers preferred.
One Year over the road driving experience with degree from accredited driving school.
**Experience Preferred**
