JOB SUMMARY
As the independent system operator (ISO) for the power system that serves the majority of Texas, Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) is responsible for operating and planning the ERCOT transmission grid and administering the ERCOT wholesale power market, among other critical functions including serving as the Reliability Monitor for the ERCOT Region. The ERCOT Legal Department is seeking an experienced attorney to join its team in support of ERCOT's role as the Reliability Monitor. The ideal candidate will have excellent written communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a keen interest in supporting ERCOT's Reliability Monitor function.
The Texas Administrative Code defines the Reliability Monitor for the ERCOT Region as, "a person or entity selected by the commission to monitor compliance with all state reliability-related laws, rules, and ERCOT procedures including protocols, processes, and any other operating standards applicable to the ERCOT Region." The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) appointed ERCOT as the Reliability Monitor. The ERCOT Reliability Monitor (ERM) is tasked with gathering and analyzing information and data to conduct reliability monitoring activities. More specifically, the ERM's duties and responsibilities include:
Monitoring, investigating, auditing, and reporting to the commission regarding compliance with reliability-related ERCOT procedures, including Protocols, Operating Guides, and Other Binding Documents, the reliability-related provisions of the commission's rules, and reliability-related provisions of the Public Utility Regulatory Act; Providing reliability-related subject-matter advice, expertise, and assistance to the commission as part of its oversight and enforcement activities; and Providing expert advice, analysis, reports, and testimony services relating to the Reliability Monitor's analysis and findings as part of the commission staff's case in enforcement proceedings.
This position will primarily support ERCOT's ERM function, which includes working with the ERCOT Compliance Department and other ERCOT subject matter experts on ERM activities and drafting written analysis for presentation to the PUC. Accordingly, the individual must sign a PUC-required Code of Conduct in addition to the standard ERCOT Employee Ethics Agreement.
JOB DUTIES

Our client, an innovative consumer brand company, is looking for an Assistant General Counsel to support its next level of products and innovation. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in all aspects of IP law (including patent law) and a strong track record of protecting and enhancing brand value in a dynamic and fast-paced business environment. The selected candidate will interface with business partners throughout the organization to provide strategic and comprehensive legal counsel to mitigate the company’s global risk profile and help accomplish our business objectives. The Assistant General Counsel will work closely with the Marketing, Product Development and Operations teams. < r>
10+ years of experience practicing law, preferably with a global law firm before moving to in-house counsel with positions of increasing responsibilities, with a focus on intellectual property (including patent matters) and brand protection.
~ Experience in successfully managing related outside legal resources.
Base salary is expected mid-$200K plus bonus, depending on qualifications and experience. JOB SUMMARY
As the independent system operator (ISO) for the power system that serves the majority of Texas, Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) is responsible for operating and planning the ERCOT transmission grid and administering the ERCOT wholesale power market, among other critical functions.
The ERCOT Legal Department is seeking an attorney to join its regulatory team. The job will focus on state law regulatory, legislative, and policy issues affecting ERCOT. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, sound judgment, and experience with Texas and/or federal regulation of the electric power industry.
JOB DUTIES
+ Reviews and interprets ERCOT Protocols, Operating Guides, Operating Procedures and other relevant documents for internal departments and groups and external parties
+ Performs legal research on issues involving state or federal law relating to ERCOT's functions
+ Monitors and tracks Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Texas Register, Federal Register and relevant Legislative matters and all applicable other Governmental proceedings
+ Develops comments regarding proposed changes to the ERCOT Protocols or in PUCT rulemaking proceedings
+ Contributes to the writing, editing, and publishing of various reports and filings required by PUCT rules
+ Prepares pleadings and assists with discovery in contested cases pending before PUCT
+ Participates in audits and other compliance activities as required by internal controls, ERCOT market rules, or state and federal laws, rules, or standards
+ Review and investigate background facts and information for lawsuits and ethics-related matters
+ Performs research and analysis in connection with Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) proceedings initiated by Market Participants, and prepares Position Papers for ADRs
+ Participates in the preparation of agendas and materials for Board of Directors and Board committee meetings, including recording minutes of all meetings
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
+ Associate Regulatory Corporate Counsel Level- No minimum work experience required in excess of degree requirements
+ Regulatory Corporate Counsel Level - Requires minimum 2 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
EDUCATION
+ Bachelor's Degree: Any discipline (Required)
+ Juris doctorate from accredited law school (Required)
CERTIFICATION
+ Admitted to practice before the State Bar of Texas (Required)
WORK LOCATION - Austin, TX:
+ Employees will be required to be on-site in Austin, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
+ On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
+ Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence
+ Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time

Expected Salary Range:
$125,634 - $213,586
