Key Responsibilities
1. Support Long-Term Faith Formation Planning
- Assist in the development and execution of a three-year plan for lifelong faith formation.
- Help coordinate monthly faith formation programs for families, children, youth, and adults.
- Support sacramental preparation programming for Baptism, Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation.
- Help curate and manage online resources and activities for parishioners of all ages.
- Collaborate with the DRE and Faith Formation Team to plan and implement monthly intergenerational learning programs.
- Coordinate logistics for age-specific sessions for children, youth, and adults based on the monthly theme.
- Support the creation and dissemination of digital content for at-home faith formation.
- Assist in leading and coordinating the Faith Formation Team.
- Help recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders across multiple roles including facilitators, prayer leaders, hospitality, setup/cleanup, food prep, creative arts, and promotion.
- Monitor volunteer assignments and provide regular feedback and encouragement.
- Assist in the design and delivery of preparation programs for Baptism, Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation.
- Coordinate communication with parents, sponsors, and catechists involved in the sacramental process.
- Assist in promoting faith formation opportunities throughout the parish via bulletin announcements, website updates, email, and social media.
- Help manage program registrations and maintain participant records.
- Communicate regularly with parish staff, committees, and families about ongoing initiatives.
- Support the annual evaluation process for all faith formation programs.
- Assist in collecting feedback from participants and volunteers and help integrate findings into future planning.
- Provide regular updates to the pastor, DRE, and parish leadership on program status and development.
- Work with the DRE and Archdiocesan Safe Environment Office to ensure that all faith formation activities and volunteers comply with Safe Environment policies.
- Maintain necessary documentation and support volunteer compliance training and background checks.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.
- Experience in parish ministry, catechesis, or education preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
- Comfortable with basic technology, including email, digital media, and online learning tools.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
- Catechetical training or certification (or willingness to pursue certification).
- Experience with intergenerational or family faith formation models.
- Familiarity with Safe Environment requirements and best practices.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
- Position may include evening and weekend hours.
- Requires some lifting (e.g., program materials, setup/takedown).
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Overview :We are seeking a Director of Religious Education (DRE) to lead and manage Catholic and Protestant religious education programs at Kings Bay Chapel. The DRE will organize classes, train volunteers, and support the Command Religious Program (CRP) in serving military personnel and their families.
Location: Naval Submarine Base Chapel – Kings Bay, GAResponsibilities
Plan and run religious education programs for children, teens, and adults (Sunday School, CCD, RCIA, Vacation Bible School, Bible Studies).
Recruit and train volunteer teachers and assistants.
Hold monthly meetings with teachers and provide ongoing support.
Keep student registrations and program records up to date.
Coordinate with Chaplains on schedules, materials, and announcements.
Lead open house and parent meetings each year.
Ensure substitutes are arranged when absent.
Maintain professional appearance and positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and families.
Certification from a religious organization OR 5+ years of teaching experience in a religious/academic setting.
Familiarity with Catholic liturgy, traditions, and religious education.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Able to work with volunteers and multi-age groups.
Must pass a background check and meet Navy base access requirements.
