Job Description

The Blackmer Pump Technician evaluates, modifies, repairs, and rebuilds Blackmer pump products. This position will involve approximately 80% Shop and 10% field repair activities, and 10% administrative activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspects the components of pumps for serviceability. Then rebuilds the pump in the correct configuration according to the drawing.
  • Engage with customers and government inspectors by showing proper set-up and use of shop test equipment and how to work the equipment.
  • Will show how to document test data and provide data to customers.
  • Performs shipping/receiving duties - including constructing shipping boxes, receiving parts, and conducting inventories.
  • Operate and maintain an operating license for forklifts.
  • Will operate and maintain all shop equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation.
  • Properly store and dispose of waste/ HAZMAT, scrap metal, IAW local regulations and shop processes.
  • Read Government contracts from NAVSUP, USCG.
  • Understand drawing requirements for proper paint and primer use IAW customer specifications.
  • Create shipping labels for GFM.
  • Works overtime as required with advance approval from the manager
  • Willing to travel at least 10%

What You’ll Bring

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years' experience in pump repair
  • Military experience is highly preferred
  • Ability to be granted military base access
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Must work at a proficient level with all shop processes and procedures
  • Working knowledge of all tools and measuring devices required for pump repair
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write basic reports and business correspondence
  • Effectively communicate by responding to questions from managers, engineers, and other customers
  • Ability to understand and apply basic math principles
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Read and interpret drawings of technical information and government contracts.

The Blackmer Pump Technician evaluates, modifies, repairs, and rebuilds Blackmer pump products.  This position will involve approximately 80% Shop and 10% field repair activities, and 10% administrative activities. 

What You’ll Do

  • Inspects the components of pumps for serviceability. Then rebuilds the pump in the correct configuration according to the drawing.  
  • Engage with customers and government inspectors by showing proper set-up and use of shop test equipment and how to work the equipment.
  • Will show how to document test data and provide data to customers.    
  • Performs shipping/receiving duties - including constructing shipping boxes, receiving parts, and conducting inventories.
  • Operate and maintain an operating license for forklifts.
  • Will operate and maintain all shop equipment.

  • Properly store and dispose of waste/ HAZMAT, scrap metal, IAW local regulations and shop processes.
  • Read Government contracts from NAVSUP, USCG.
