The Repair Center Engineer for Leica Biosystems is responsible for performing maintenance, modification and/or repair of Leica Biosystems mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic and refrigeration instruments.
This position is part of the Customer Support Group located in Richmond, IL and will be fully onsite. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.
You will be a part of the Repair Center Team and report to the Director of the Service and Repair Center responsible for managing the repair and distribution of the assets needed to ensure customer uptime. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Perform maintenance, modification and/or repair on mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic and refrigeration instruments.
+ Identify root cause of instrument malfunctions and determine feasibility of repair.
+ Disassemble, replace or repair defective parts.
+ Calibrate, adjust and certify overhauled or modified instruments. Test, certify and harvest spare parts.
+ Support the warehouse returns department by identifying good and complete returned items including instruments and spare parts/assemblies.
The essential requirements of the job include:
+ Associate degree or Technical Certifications with at least 1 year of experience in performing maintenance, modification and/or repair on mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic and refrigeration instruments
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
+ Ability to regularly lift, move, slide, raise and/or place up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk (prolonged), and sit; squat and kneel, ascend and descend stairs; reach with hands and arms

Are you looking to further develop your career in the scientific instrumentation maintenance & repair industry?
The Repair Center Technician is responsible for unpacking, setup, troubleshooting/repair, calibrations and performance testing of instrumentation in support of the SCIEX service certification process. This position works independently to resolve all assigned technical issues in a WO (work order) driven high-transaction repair depot environment. Willing and able to mentor and develop less experienced staff members.
This position reports to the Manager, Repair Center and is part of the Field Service organization working onsite at the Dallas Repair Center facility located in Coppell, TX.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance on mass spectrometers, HPLC and/or capillary electrophoresis instrumentation with a solid understanding of Sciex instrumentation.
+ Maintain a high-quality focus and efficiency with Repair Center activities. Assists with researching root cause and implementing corrective actions for reported quality issues using available DBS tools and methodology.
+ Completes administrative duties (logging repair center activities, expense reporting, inventory management, etc.)
The essential requirements of the job include
+ Associate's degree (A.S./A.A.S) or Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent experience (i.e. Military Certificates in electronics or avionics).
+ Liquid chromatography and/or capillary electrophoresis experience, prior experience operating and/or servicing mass spectrometry or scientific instrumentation.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
+ Ability to travel - Limited travel, primarily for job training
+ Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 lbs. along with ability to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, and bend at the waist for extended periods of time.

The Repair Center Technician is responsible for unpacking, setup, troubleshooting/repair, calibrations and performance testing of instrumentation in support of the SCIEX service certification process. This position works independently to resolve all assigned technical issues in a WO (work order) driven high-transaction repair depot environment. Willing and able to mentor and develop less experienced staff members.
This position reports to the Manager, Repair Center and is part of the Field Service organization working onsite at the Dallas Repair Center facility located in Coppell, TX.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance on mass spectrometers, HPLC and/or capillary electrophoresis instrumentation with a solid understanding of Sciex instrumentation.
+ Maintain a high-quality focus and efficiency with Repair Center activities. Assists with researching root cause and implementing corrective actions for reported quality issues using available DBS tools and methodology.
+ Completes administrative duties (logging repair center activities, expense reporting, inventory management, etc.)
The essential requirements of the job include
+ Associate's degree (A.S./A.A.S) or Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent experience (i.e. Military Certificates in electronics or avionics).
+ Liquid chromatography and/or capillary electrophoresis experience, prior experience operating and/or servicing mass spectrometry or scientific instrumentation.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
+ Ability to travel - Limited travel, primarily for job training
+ Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 lbs. along with ability to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, and bend at the waist for extended periods of time.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ Strong mechanical, electro-mechanical, and/or electronics troubleshooting skills
+ Salesforce administrative workflows, e.g. debriefing
+ Inventory tracking and reporting

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and supervise a team of repair technicians
  • Plan and assign daily workloads; monitor progress and completion
  • Manage repair workflows, ensuring timely and high-quality results
  • Provide hands-on repair support—especially with complex jobs
  • Diagnose and repair electronic systems, including: POS systems (hard drives, displays), receipt printers, Drive-thru headset systems etc.
  • Monitor inventory and place parts orders; track stock via CRM
  • Ensure accurate and timely repair documentation and invoicing
  • Collaborate with Sales to align on timelines and customer expectations
  • Train new team members through job shadowing and direct guidance
  • Maintain and improve productivity tracking in the CRM
  • Address team performance or attendance issues fairly and directly
  • Serve as the point of escalation for customer inquiries or issues

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • Strong background in electronics repair
  • Hands-on soldering experience
  • Comfortable managing a small, independent team
  • Familiar with CRM systems and order/inventory tracking tools
  • Trustworthy, organized, and detail-oriented

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

We are seeking an Infrastructure Repair Technician to join our data center operations team. This role is focused on the physical repair and maintenance of data center hardware, including servers, switches, routers, and related components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with hardware from leading vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and x86 server platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform hands-on repairs and replacement of defective hardware components in data center equipment, including power supplies, fans, and network cards.
  • Manage the lifecycle of hardware components, from installation and troubleshooting to decommissioning and recycling.
  • Conduct physical inspections and routine maintenance on data center equipment to ensure operational reliability.
  • Oversee the inventory management of spare parts and hardware components, ensuring availability for repairs and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to coordinate replacement activities and minimize downtime during hardware failures.
  • Document repair activities, maintain accurate records of maintenance logs, and update system configurations as necessary.
  • Execute basic physical layer troubleshooting, including cable and port testing, to ensure connectivity and performance standards.
  • Support the implementation of new hardware installations and the physical setup of network and server infrastructure.
  • Participate in emergency response teams to address urgent hardware issues
  • 4 Rotational shifts, for 24/7/365 service (8 to 10 hr. shifts; 3 to 4 days per week; 2 to 3 days off)

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Technical diploma or certification in electronics, computer hardware, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of repairing and maintaining IT and network hardware in a data center environment.
  • Familiarity with hardware from Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and x86 servers is highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to handle physical requirements of the job including lifting equipment up to 50 pounds.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment, up to approximately 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Dexterity to manage small and complex components during hardware maintenance.
  • Frequent standing, bending, and moving within confined spaces in the data center.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including areas with elevated temperatures and noise levels.
