JOB SUMMARY

Performs skilled electronic repair and maintenance of scientific equipment. Work is performed under general supervision and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

• Performs, with a high degree of skill, mechanical and electrical layout, construction, modification, testing, adjustment, calibration, and maintenance of simple and complex electronic equipment for use in scientific research.

• Performs troubleshooting of simple and complex electronic equipment (e.g. sampling oscilloscopes, multi-channel pulse-height analyzers, nanosecond amplifiers, precision feedback electrometers, etc.)• Originates, modifies, assembles, and maintains complex schematic and wiring diagrams.• Repairs and maintains equipment through corrective and maintenance procedures.

• Operates simple machine tools and common electronic instruments and performs skilled soldering.

• Researches sources and orders parts for equipment repair.

• Prepares reports as required.

• Installs new equipment.

• Consults with faculty and staff regarding scientific equipment and computer hardware/software problems.

• Consults with maintenance centers on repairs and maintenance.

• Assists with repairs and calibration of scientific equipment.

• Assists in purchasing parts for scientific equipment.

• Assists principal investigators with obtaining service from outside vendors.

• Assists principal investigators with developing operation and maintenance procedures.

• Observes the repair process when an outside service technician repairs or maintains scientific equipment on campus. The information gained can be used in future maintenance and repair of equipment.

EDUCATION

Associate's degree in physics, electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent technical training required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Four year experience in performing electronic work in maintenance or constructions of technical or scientific electronic equipment or in troubleshooting and repair of radio/television equipment, computer equipment, or electronic instrumentation.

**We are seeking an experienced Truck Equipment Repair Technician to work in beautiful Skowhegan, Maine!**
**Position Summary**
As a **Truck Equipment Repair Technician / Installer** , you'll join a skilled team focused on truck equipment installation, repair, and maintenance. You'll work on hydraulic systems, electrical installations, fabrication, and mechanical systems used in plow trucks, dump bodies, tanks, and more.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Perform in-house and on-site service and repair of truck equipment.
+ Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures.
+ Inspect, fabricate, and repair hydraulic systems and components.
+ Install and test electrical systems (wiring, switches, control boxes).
+ Perform welding and metal fabrication tasks as needed.
+ Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
+ Ensure high standards of workmanship and documentation compliance.
+ Participate in installation projects and customer equipment demonstrations.
+ Complete all paperwork and equipment logs accurately.
+ Travel for training, certification, or job completion as needed (occasional overnight stays).
**Qualifications**
**Education & Experience:**
+ High school diploma or GED preferred.
+ Technical degree (2 years preferred) in welding, mechanics, or hydraulics.
+ 3+ years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
+ CDL Class B (or ability to obtain within a reasonable time frame).
**Technical Skills:**
+ Proficient in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems, and fabrication.
+ Skilled in reading schematics, assembly diagrams, and technical manuals.
+ Able to use various shop tools (torches, band saws, electric drills, etc.).
+ Competent in using Microsoft Office and mobile diagnostic tools.
**Soft Skills:**
+ Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
+ Able to work independently and manage time efficiently.
+ Commitment to safety, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
+ Attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards.
**Additional Requirements**
+ Must be able to lift various tools, parts and equipment and perform hands-on technical tasks.
+ Willingness to travel occasionally for job assignments or training.
+ Valid driver's license required; CDL Class B preferred or willingness to obtain.

Job Description

**Join our talented team of Technician's and Installers in our Hopkinton, New Hampshire branch!**
The Heavy Equipment Repair Technician / Installer will perform in-house service and repair activities, assist with equipment demonstrations, preparations, diagnose and repair equipment failures on a variety of equipment, including mount tilt fronts, dump bodies, and tanks.
**Essential Functions of the Job:**
+ Performs customer road service activities to include servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
+ Performs service repair work as scheduled for the service shop. May assist in new installation work.
+ Reads job order, observes, and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
+ Visually inspects hydraulic lines and components to detect leaks, damage, and wear and reads pressure gauges to detect abnormal oil pressure and to detect overheated oil. Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on truck.
+ Makes any necessary adjustments, lubricates parts, fabricates special lifting and/or towing attachments, repair hydraulic systems or other devices, replaces worn or damaged hydraulic components such as oil lines, fittings, cylinders, valves, gaskets and seals and repairs or installs new parts as necessary.
+ Observes operation machinery and equipment to verify repairs.
+ Installs electrical equipment on plow trucks and dump trucks including running wires, mounting brackets, switches, and control boxes following electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, air tools, and other tools as necessary. Tests all installed equipment and wiring using appropriate electrical and/or electronic test equipment to determine proper functioning and installation of electrical equipment. Makes adjustments as necessary.
+ Bolts, clamps and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding. Sets up equipment and welds parts, using appropriate welding equipment.
+ Inspect, repair, or replace any and all hydraulic components as per manufacturer and/or company requirements. Manufacture new lines, trouble shoot problems, observe and report malfunctioning equipment.
+ Assembles parts by drilling, bolting, and riveting truck frame to mount rear cab assembly and sub frames as necessary.
+ Participate in installation activities as necessary.
+ Ensures all paperwork is completed accurately and in compliance with company policies and procedures including sourcing equipment manuals.
+ Perform any miscellaneous, related or associated duties as assigned by supervisor
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
+ Skillful using a smart phone and laptop.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and other web platforms.
+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, assemble diagrams or schematics.
+ Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, object, and a series of numbers.
+ Ability to perform the four arithmetic operations with like common and decimal fractions.
+ Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
+ Ability to perform fairly repetitive duties and tasks according to set procedures, interacting with people only when it is routine.
+ Must be knowledgeable and capable of performing repairs in an efficient, effective, and timely manner.
+ Ability to relate to the customer in a positive, proactive manner.
+ Skilled in electrical, mechanics, welding, mobile hydraulics fabrication.
+ Skilled and experienced with torches, electric drills, reamers and band saw.
+ Ability to adhere to and achieve exact levels of performance, using tools and machines to attain precise dimensions.
+ Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
+ Ability to do overnight stays out of state to complete jobs, equipment training, and certification as necessary while remaining accurate and utilizing cost saving opportunities.
+ Self-motivated, able to work independently without constant direction or supervision.
+ Commitment to teamwork and Safety
**Education and Experience:**
High school diploma plus 2 year technical degree in welding, mechanics and/or hydraulics with 3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate must also possess a CDL Class B License or the ability to obtain a CDL Class B within a reasonable period of time.
