**The role you'll contribute:**
The Research Support Assistant will assist the Clinical Research Coordinators (CRC)/Research Nurse in the conduct of Phase I-IV industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trials in accordance with trial protocols, FDA Regulations, and ICH/GCP Guidelines. The Research Support Assistant is immediately accountable to the CRC/CRN and works with them and other study team members to meet study-specific goals and timelines and communicates appropriately and effectively with other members of the study team (both internal staff and external collaborators). Assists with the recruiting needs of specific protocols and works with the team to meet these goals. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all

Abstracts and records essential physical and test data. Submits data in time frame specified. Maintains study chart to coincide with current protocol and research participant visits. Responds to data clarification requests (queries) in a timely manner.
+ Supports the CRC/CRN by assisting with: subject recruitment (assisting with subject prescreening); ensuring maintenance of proper research certifications; project timelines updates; and literary searches. Enters and updates information in to the data base for recruiting. Assists with study close out activities.
+ Supports the research team by: creating/maintaining accurate files; copying, scanning, uploading, faxing and emailing documents as necessary; and being proactive in process improvement ideas.
+ Communicates appropriately and effectively with investigators, scientists, APRNs, CRNs, industry collaborators, study monitors, physician offices, ancillary departments, staff and patients.
+ Conforms to all standards of good research practice and abides by current IRB, FDA, federal, state and institutional regulations pertaining to human subjects research, including the use of institutional and departmental SOPs. Understands and abides by HIPAA regulations.
+ Understands the protocol document and performs required activities as exhibited through collaboration with the CRC/CRN. Participates in initial and ongoing protocol training as necessary for the study requirements. Communicates with the CRC/CRN incoming data and any inconsistencies.
+ The Research Associate is responsible for maintaining personal professional growth and contributes to the growth of team members. Maintains adequate skills in technology as necessary for the study execution. Willingly participates in the orientation of new employees. Proactive in process improvement ideas. The CRA will contribute to providing the highest levels of customer service by maintaining open communication with other research staff and participating in inter and/or intradepartmental discussions relevant to research.

Pay Rate: $17.88/HR

Hours: Weekdays 7-3:30 pm and weekend shift 6-2:30 pm. The weekend shift is on a rotation, but will vary due to work load and they will change accordingly.

We have an opening for a Farm Research Technician at our Beef Cattle Unit. You will be located at our World Famous Purina Animal Nutrition Research Farm in Gray Summit, MO

This is a full time position, with benefits, that is used to help in all areas of the beef unit as needed. Weekends and holidays on rotation are required, typically 1-2 weekends a month and 2 holidays a year-this varies on work load. Prefer cattle and farm experience, but not required as we do have a great staff that will provide training. Team player, that likes hands on work with cattle and has good work ethics a must for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This role will work mostly in the cattle growing and finishing facilities.
  • T here is daily feeding of the test rations, mixing the feed diets & TMR's, weighing cattle, data entry on computers, and daily health monitoring of the cattle.
  • This role will also help anywhere in the beef unit as needed.
  • Duties will also include but not limited to: general animal husbandry cleaning and grounds keeping to keep the facility looking great.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to work in an outdoor environment

    **Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):**
    Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biology or a related field. One (1) year full-time experience conducting bench research skills including mouse colony maintenance, PCR genotyping, mouse husbandry and/or experience with mouse genetics. Experience with cell culture and primary oraganotypic airway cultures. Experience with digital Data record keeping.
    **Preferred Qualifications:**
    Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Bioinformatics or a related field. Research Laboratory experience in histology and molecular biology techniques. Experience with IACUC and institutional protocols. Experience with transcriptomic bioinformatics analysis (Seurat, Scenic algorithms on 10x Genomics databases). Experience with teaching and/or mentoring and/or training students and staff on mouse model handling, routine husbandry and set up breeding.
    **Brief Description of Duties:**
    The Research Support Specialist will assist the Principal Investigator and other laboratory personnel, including undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs and senior research scientists to lead advancements of research focused on 2 themes: i) investigating the role of mutations in the p53 tumor suppressor gene in cancer; and ii) investigating the transcriptional control of motile multicillogenesis in airways and other tissues. Our main tools are genetically engineered mouse models, complemented by a broad range of molecular, cell biological and bioinformatics methods. The candidate must be willing to take directions, work both independently and in a team of several experts across fields. The Candidate must have strong organizational skills and interest in mentoring students in a research lab environment. The applicant must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    **Duties:**
    + Manage a multi-line mouse colony (includes breeding, culling and genotyping animals and maintaining a census database.
    + Histology and immunohistochemistry preparations, tissue culture, microscopy.
    + Bioinformatics analysis.
    + Provide technical support for the lab members, including assistance in mouse dissections.
    + Prepare general reagents in the lab
    + Maintain study protocol documents and ensure compliance with all Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Safety policies.
    + Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

    Plan, develop, oversee, and implement pre and post award project activities within the School of Medicine. Perform needs assessment to evaluate effectiveness of current systems.     Oversee compliance of post award policies and procedures. Assist, monitor, process and review in a timely manner cost sharing submissions, cost share accounts, accounts in suspense, change in labor distribution and redistribution, P.I. effort reporting and close-out documents for sponsored projects. Verify deficits in a timely manner and assist with clearing to an appropriate index. Identify grants in their late stages to ensure that the funds have been efficiently utilized and remain within budget. Take corrective actions if necessary. Perform audits on grants/contracts to ensure administrators are performing adequate account reconciliations and complying with award. Assist in transfers of grants to/from WSU or transition of PI. Oversee asset inventory process for grants.
    Provide management reports on grant proposals and funded grants for management decision making purposes. Maintain a school database. Prepare a wide variety of statistical and administrative reports and analysis, summaries, surveys, and questionnaires regarding program activities.
    Serve as a resource to faculty and other staff within the college by providing information and guidance on appropriate use of sponsored project funds. Serve as a primary liaison between principal investigators and SPA to identify and resolve problems and answer inquiries regarding university or funding agency guidelines, policies, and procedures. Attend conferences, workshops and informational development seminars and keep abreast of current trends and practices pertaining to post award administration.
