About the Role

As an engineer within Fleet infrastructure, you will design, write, deploy, and operate infrastructure systems for model deployment and training on one of the world's largest GPU fleet. Exciting Opportunity at MSK: The Molecular Cytology Core Facility (MCCF) seeks a Research Specialist - Core Facilities to design and perform atomic force microscopy (AFM) and optical trapping experiments for pre-clinical and clinical researchers at MSKCC and neighboring institutes.
MCCF provides elite services for single-molecule biophysics and nano-mechanical characterization of biological samples for cancer research. We maintain two Asylum MFP-3D-Bio and Bruker Nanowizard V AFMs and a Lumicks C-Trap optical trapping/confocal system for quantification of single-molecule DNA/protein interactions and nano-mechanical measurements of diverse, cancer-related biological samples.
**Key Qualifications:**
Responsibilities:
+ Advising and assisting users in optimizing sample preparation in a wide range of experimental systems from single molecules through cells and organoids to whole tissues
+ Designing, performing and analyzing AFM and optical trapping experiments
+ Exploring new avenues for AFM in cancer biology and developing new techniques in collaboration with users
+ Promoting and expanding the use of AFM and optical trapping technologies in pre-clinical and clinical research at MSKCC
Qualifications:
+ PhD in a life sciences-related field, with relevant postdoctoral experience strongly preferred

+ Interpret sequence of operations, use tools, facilities and materials.
+ Follow sequence of operations
+ Working from drawings, sketches, written and verbal instructions, etc., perform manual metal arc, carbon
+ arc, gas welding, MIG, TIG, brazing, gas cutting and burning as required in the installation, maintenance
+ and repair of high-pressure systems, generally determining methods and procedures.
+ Work from ladders, high scaffolds, pipe trestles, etc., climbing and working at any required height.
+ Work in manholes and closed steam tunnels, and outdoors in excavations under the most severe weather conditions. Work inside combustion test stands and exhaust stacks, sometimes working in elevated temperatures.
+ Operations also include cutting, beveling and welding cast iron pipe, stainless steel, and carbon above and below ground level, thawing frozen pipes, welding hangers, supports, pipe guides, etc.
+ Competent use of all shop equipment (iron worker, drills, saws, acetylene torch plasma arc, AC & DC welders, SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, hand and layout tools, operate forklifts, overhead cranes).
+ Weld in all positions and close quarters as required on fuel, gas, air, steam, water, etc. lines and pipes.
+ Remove slag and weld splatter, fill craters and gage weld size.
+ Observe weld deposits carefully, clean and inspect visually for defects or trapped slag before next pass is applied; repair as necessary.
+ Stow away tools and equipment.
+ Perform all position welding to very close requirements on combustion liners, transition pieces, nozzles, test stands, pressure vessels, variety of pipe lines, etc.
+ Quality may be checked visually by weld gauges, red dye penetrant, magna flux, X-ray, etc.
+ Defective work may not be readily apparent.
+ Keep facilities, material and work area orderly exercising care in their use, maintaining general housekeeping practices and conforming to all safety and quality requirements.

Others: Ensuring compliance and adherence to Work Environment Guidelines (WEG) and HSE Guidelines (TCS Processes which will be made available later) for all Cincinnati sites.

- Monitoring budget utilization and invoice payment process. Create and update spreadsheets as required.

- Ensuring valid agreements are available for all vendors.

- Be available on site on all working days to ensure effective Administration of the premises.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree.

• 10-14 years' experience in Administrative Function of a medium sized facility (> 300 associates) preferred.

Set strategic direction of district building operations activities at assigned campus related to the cleaning, grounds care, and minor maintenance of District facilities. Serve as primary point-of-contact for site based Principals for facility issues and questions. Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with administrators, faculty, and other groups as needed to resolve issues or coordinate activities. Acts also as a primary point of contact to staff of the various schools co-located in shared campuses and other campus entities. Assist in the development, implementation, control, and distribution of Quality Assurance and Quality Control practices, standards, methodologies and metrics associated with assignments. Provide regular activity and status reports to DPS management and staff on building conditions and quality assurance results at assigned Campus. Conducts Quality Assurance inspections at assigned campus, other department managed schools utilizing contracted services or Innovative/contract schools to ensure district standards are being met by site managed custodial programs. Manage building operations budget for assigned campus ensuring effective fiscal management and oversight of the building operations, supply, and over-time budget accounts.Instructs multiple formalized training courses in personnel management, technology, and business practices. Develop and maintain informational databases to support the missions of departments, as assigned. Purchases materials and equipment for building operations duties; meet with vendors and evaluate new products and equipment; requisition a wide variety of chemicals, tools, supplies, and equipment for use at multiple sites. Collects, reviews, and processes financial information and creates necessary financial reports for area assigned. Maintains and establishes all aspects of financial records, ensuring accurate and timely processing developed with input from Building Managers and staff. Prepares and completes an integrated budget including all funds available to each assigned site. Ensure campus leaders and occupants are providing physical safety and security at assigned facility; including ensuring proper adherence to maintenance of fire/security alarms by campus leaders, and emergency lighting. Is responsible for the coordination and adherence of safety procedures such as fire drills, lock downs, and shelter in place.
