Summary
Dr. Cleveland's research has been broadly focused on the molecular pathogenesis of cancer, where he has been a leader in interrogating the regulation and role of oncogenes and tumor suppressors in controlling cancer cell growth and survival, and in defining new targets that play essential roles in the development and maintenance of cancer.
We are looking for a motivated Research Laboratory Coordinator responsible for conducting highly specialized independent research at an advanced level with latitude for creativity in both theoretical and experimental applications. The Research Laboratory Coordinator provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to the lab of Dr. Cleveland.

We focus on a genetic vascular disease called Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), where we use molecular and cellular biology, molecular genetic, and computational biology techniques to i) identify genetic variants that will lead to disease, ii) develop therapeutics to improve treatment for patients, and iii) eventually use gene editing to cure disease symptoms. JOB SUMMARY
The Laboratory Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and administration of one or more university laboratories. This role ensures that laboratories operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with university, state, and federal regulations. The Laboratory Manager supports faculty, researchers, and students by maintaining equipment, managing inventory, training staff on safety procedures, and coordinating the use of laboratory resources.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages day-to-day operations of the core facility, including scheduling, coordination of services, and tracking usage
- Maintains an organized inventory of consumables, reagents, and supplies, placing orders as needed
- Develops and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment and lab processes
- Performs routine calibration and quality control checks on equipment to ensure accurate results
- Prepares reports on core activity, including usage metrics and performance indicators
- Ensures proper handling, storage, and disposal of biological samples and hazardous materials in compliance with safety standard
- Supports data transfer, cloud storage, and analytical software
- Provides training to users on proper equipment use, imaging techniques, and data acquisition protocols
- Troubleshoots issues with instrumentation and assist with minor repairs or liaise with service engineers for maintenance

**Essential Functions**
Daily animal husbandry for chickens, setup and cleanup of the facilities for the project. The applicant will need to be willing to take samples from live animals as well as assisting during postmortem sampling. They will also be needed in preparation for all samples or lab work required by the supervisor.

Insight Global is looking to bring on a Secret cleared Research Technician to work in a lab setting in Aberdeen, MD in support of a Federal client. The technician will be responsible for the following:
- Conduct animal movement, transportation, feeding, behavioral training, surgery, surgical support, veterinary technical support, bio-sampling (blood, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, etc.), and all experimentation.
- Draft reports, figures, and slide summaries of experimental methods and results, and other written work, as needed.
- Maintain specialized laboratory equipment, such as experimental and behavioral equipment, outside of traditional medical maintenance services. This includes proper care and calibration of experimental and behavioral materials, cleaning routine experimental equipment, verifying functionality of experimental equipment, calibrating scales.
- Create graphical and textual descriptions of experimental outcomes and assist with implementation of new technologies within the laboratory relevant to the research areas of interest.
- Conduct biochemical, pharmacological, physiological, and behavioral components of experimental investigations in collaboration with the PI. The experiments will determine the effects of threats/hazards and be capable of testing medical interventions in several species.
- Compile and analyze experimental data with custom-written software and with commercially available spreadsheet, graphics, and statistical analysis programs.
- Aseptic maintenance of surgically placed vascular access ports in NHPs; and perform daily flush and visual inspection of central lines for proper placement, signs of distress and infection IAW USAMRICD SOP and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) guidelines.
- Perform or assist personnel with surgical procedures on NHP.
- Perform necropsy and harvest tissue from deceased experimental animals and properly dispose of animal carcasses.
- Perform solubility studies of various threat agents and therapeutic compounds of interest; assess animal health and behavior for safety and efficacy of novel candidate therapeutic compounds following administration by intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intravenous routes; record findings in laboratory notebooks during or immediately following the experiments.

Research Lab Technician I
Venesco LLC is looking for Research Lab Techs to support the 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW). Candidates must have at least three (3) years’ demonstrated experience in laboratory animal research within the last six (6) years; OR five (5) years’ demonstrated experience with hands-on emergency/specialty animal medicine. Additionally, experience with husbandry for small research animal species and health checks is required.
Base in Ohio, is the first human-centric warfare wing to consolidate human performance research, education and consultation under a single organization. Established under the Air Force Research Laboratory, the 711 HPW is comprised of the Human Effectiveness Directorate (RH), the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM). The Wing delivers unparalleled capability to the Air Force through a combination of world class infrastructure and expertise of its diverse workforce of military, civilian and contractor personnel encompassing 75 occupational specialties including science and engineering, occupational health and safety, medical professions, technicians, educators, and business operations and support.
Responsibilities:
- 1.2.1 The contractor employee shall maintain sanitation of housing rooms, cages, and racks in experimental areas.
- 1.2.2 The contractor employee shall provide basic husbandry duties in accordance with all DoD, Federal and local regulations.
- 1.2.3 The contractor employee shall assist Attending Veterinarian (AV) and Principal Investigators (PIs) in performing some surgery and microsurgery on animals.
- 1.2.4 The contractor employee shall collect experimental data from animals to include blood pressure, weight, blood analyses or other tests based off project support.
- 1.2.5 The contractor employee shall assist with analysis of data as needed to include medication dosage calculations.
- 1.2.6 The contractor employee shall order and maintain supplies for the laboratory, to include using a Government or GSA vehicle to pick up supplies when appropriate.
- 1.2.7 The contractor employee shall create and revise research forms, provide forms and regulatory guidance to research staff with guidance from the AV and Branch Chief.
- 1.2.8 The contractor employee shall schedule and organize internal and external inspections, maintain the tracker for correction to deficiencies and provide a report to the AV as well as the Branch Chief.
- 1.2.9 The contractor employee shall review animal subjects research protocols as well as related documents to ensure they are followed as approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Air Force policies.
- 1.2.10 The contractor employee shall maintain records and electronic databases of animal research protocols and their progress.
- 1.2.11 The contractor employee shall follow established research guidelines and policies for the animal care activities.
- 1.2.12 The contractor employee shall research regulations, compliance and guidelines with the Animal Care and Use Program.
- 1.2.13 The contractor employee shall provide quality control to the administrative area of the animal care program to include the controlled drug program.
- 1.2.14 The contractor employee shall provide administrative support to the branch as well as other duties as assigned appropriate to the required functions of the research mission.
- 1.2.15 The contractor employee shall work a flexible schedule not to exceed 40 hours, this could include evenings, holidays and weekends.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 1.1.1.1 The contractor employee shall have a minimum of a high school diploma.
- 1.1.1.2 The contractor employee shall have at least three (3) years’ demonstrated experience in laboratory animal research within the last six (6) years; OR five (5) years’ demonstrated experience with hands-on emergency/specialty animal medicine.
- 1.1.1.3 The contractor employee shall have demonstrated experience with husbandry for small research animal species, to include health checks.
- 1.1.1.4 The contractor employee shall possess excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- 1.1.1.5 The contractor employee shall be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Access, Power Point) and SharePoint.
- 1.1.1.6 The contractor employee shall be physically able to stand for long periods of time and be able to carry 30lbs of equipment.
- 1.1.1.7 The contractor employee shall be able to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the Government’s research.
- 1.1.1.8 The Government shall have the ability to accept/decline a candidate’s qualifications for this position based upon evaluation of requirements prescribed within this PWS.

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs skilled maintenance, repair, adjustment, and minor work in the trades to ensure that Ag Research Lab and Greenhouse facilities are properly maintained and meet College of Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology standards. Duties may fall into a variety of trades, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates preventative maintenance on Ag Research laboratories, greenhouse systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and control systems and related components.
- Identifies and maintenance projects requiring the assistance of FVSU Plant Operations or contractors or vendors; participates in estimates and evaluations of project costs; monitors work of vendors or contractors. Assists in the review of new construction or remodel plans to assure compliance with facility maintenance standards.
- Maintains induction and air handling units; cleans and inspects all equipment, filter changes, lubricates, maintains and services mechanical and refrigeration and/or cooling systems.
- Performs electronic recordkeeping related to preventative maintenance and repair.
- Maintains a broad working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to maintenance of university facilities.
- Responds to college emergencies and closures including adverse weather to ensure that all facilities are protected and remain operational
- Operates an FVSU Ag vehicle and is responsible for its safe operation and reporting any observed maintenance needs.
- Coordinates college moves associated with construction / maintenance projects.
- Experience in moving, delivering, and assembling equipment, furniture, and other large items.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of facilities maintenance, construction, or repair experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
- 2 years of education or training, or an associate degree, in the facilities maintenance trades may substitute for two years of work experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license for operation of a motor vehicle and possess an acceptable driving record.
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions.
- May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, noise, and temperature extremes.
- Position involves frequent bending, standing, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching below and above shoulders, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. while performing job duties.
