Stantec's Science + Technology group seeks a Senior Laboratory Planner/Lab Architect to join our team. Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead laboratory programming and planning for projects and portions of projects.
- Develop Lab Planning content for internal and external presentations, articles and blog posts.
- Lead project teams on large scale projects, responsible for technical execution and discipline coordination on Lab areas of the project.
- Work with teams across multiple Stantec offices.
- Play a key leadership role and be an essential part of a project team working on all phases of design projects from Programming and Schematic Design through Construction Administration in the Academic and Corporate Science & Technology sector.
- Contribute to firm-wide initiatives to help advance our Science & Technology project design, operations, and business development.
- Sustain and grow revenue within the S&T market, helping to achieve top line growth for the business sector, and working collaboratively with the project team to achieve key operational performance metrics.
- Play the role of a seller-doer generating work, creating long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to clients for Stantec.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Extensive Science & Technology lab planning experience (both in size and diversity) that will support the ability to win work during proposal response. - this includes lab planning for ground-up, PI customization and renovation projects.
- Multidisciplinary experience in any or all of the following markets: Higher Education and Corporate/Commercial
- Knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building systems with specific knowledge of science and technology building requirements.
- Demonstrated technical skills on major and technically complex projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong business development skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base (such experience within a consulting organization in Texas is considered a strong asset).
- Exceptional organization, leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- An entrepreneurial orientation with strong understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting-services provider.
- Proven success in developing new clients and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Familiarity with industry trends and industry leaders in the Science and Technology sector and Texas.
- Demonstrated capability to lead teams working on projects documented in Revit or AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated experience in working on LEED certified S&T projects or S&T projects with other sustainability goals/credentials. Having a LEED credential is a plus.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or Interior Design.
- Registration as an Architect.
- 15+ years of experience working with multi-discipline teams with a minimum of ten (10) years related Lab Planning experience.
- Experience in Biotechnology, Health Science or Semiconductor is a plus.

JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and administration of one or more university laboratories. This role ensures that laboratories operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with university, state, and federal regulations. The Laboratory Manager supports faculty, researchers, and students by maintaining equipment, managing inventory, training staff on safety procedures, and coordinating the use of laboratory resources.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages day-to-day operations of the core facility, including scheduling, coordination of services, and tracking usage
  • Maintains an organized inventory of consumables, reagents, and supplies, placing orders as needed
  • Develops and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment and lab processes

**Essential Functions**
Daily animal husbandry for chickens, setup and cleanup of the facilities for the project. The applicant will need to be willing to take samples from live animals as well as assisting during postmortem sampling. They will also be needed in preparation for all samples or lab work required by the supervisor.

Job Description Summary
A research technician position is available in the Weber lab in the department of Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work in collaboration with graduate students and postdoctoral associates studying neural circuits and computational principles underlying the regular of sleep. A successful candidate would be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently following supervision and guidance on lab technique and safety. Previous experience in basic lab techniques and data analysis/programming is advantageous, but training will be provided for all duties. This position is an excellent opportunity to develop technical tools and foster critical thinking and analytical skills valuable for a career in research.

The lab technician will perform behavioral testing, mouse surgeries and data analysis. Furthermore, the technician will be responsible for general lab maintenance including the management of mouse colony, orders and projects for scientific publications with close supervision. Daily management of laboratory tools to ensure regulatory compliance. They will closely collaborate with lab members and the Principal Investigator on projects.
Position is contingent on continued grant funding.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in biology, neuroscience, computer science or a related field with 0-1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Prior laboratory experience, particularly in rodent behavior, and/or programming and data analysis of behavioral or electrophysiological data are strongly preferred.

Working under direct supervision, the Research Associate II performs routine and increasingly complex laboratory tasks and procedures and develops technical expertise in one or more areas relevant to research projects. The Research Associate II will participate in research activities involving all aspects of the research process, to include, but not limited to; investigation, technical, testing/validation of results, and report findings. The Associate will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of laboratory research projects. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs lab cleaning and maintenance duties, including washing and sterilization of glassware, operation of autoclaves and other specialized equipment.
  • May assist in performance of basic experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research.
  • May provide supervised technical support to PI or other designated research staff conducting basic research experiments and procedures.
  • May assist in basic lab benchwork under close supervision of Associate, PI and/or other designated laboratory supervisor.
  • Performs administrative duties in laboratory or in accordance with research project.
  • Maintains project records including maintaining detailed and accurate documentation of methods used during experiments upon request.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and reagents in a timely manner.
  • Assists in maintaining laboratory and laboratory equipment record keeping and coordinates equipment maintenance schedules.
  • May assist with the feeding and maintenance of lab vivarium activities.

Qualifications Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 1 year of experience supporting an academic research lab and job related functions.
Preferred:
  • Experience in handling biological specimens (e.g., centrifugation, pipetting, and processing of blood, tissue, or urine samples)
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of protective equipment, sterile techniques, and handling of biohazardous materials
  • Strong ability to maintain accurate records, complete case report forms, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Job Details:
Mercer University School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified Vivarium and Research Lab Manager on the Columbus, GA campus.

Responsibilities :

As Vivarium and Research Lab Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for managing and performing all activities within the animal vivarium on the Columbus campus to include all aspects of animal husbandry and care. This position will be responsible for all reporting requirements associated with IACUC, OLAW, and USDA oversight. This position will insure creation, maintenance of, and adherence to standard operating procedures and protocols. The candidate will have access to a veterinarian and other facility managers as needed. As Research Lab Manager the incumbent will work with the Chair or Vice-Chair of the department to perform duties related to managing and maintaining the research laboratory facilities on the Columbus campus of MUSM.

The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for maintaining as well as ensuring proper and safe use of departmental equipment. In consultation with the Department Chair or Vice-Chair, the laboratory manager will help to monitor proper adherence to departmental policies regarding conducting research, use of resources, handling and disposal of research materials. In addition, the laboratory
manager will monitor departmental usage of laboratory supplies, assist in ordering supplies and advising on current and future equipment needs.

Qualifications :

A bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited institution and five years of prior laboratory experience which must include work with animals. Candidates with a master's degree and two years of the same experience will also be considered.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :
  • Must know how to use Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare various reports.
  • Must be able to learn and apply basic principles and practices of laboratory animal care and facility maintenance.
  • Must be able to keep written records of animal health, daily tasks, and facility conditions.
  • Must be able to learn and abide by the IACUC, OLAW, and USDA regulations as they apply to a laboratory animal vivarium.
  • Must be able to write and follow standard operating procedures and protocols for the vivarium and research laboratory.
  • Must be able to work with disinfectants, germicides, and cleaning agents commonly used in the animal vivarium.
  • Must be able to work on rotating weekends and holidays in the animal vivarium.
  • Must learn how to troubleshoot and maintain vivarium and research laboratory equipment.
