As a Senior Engineer in Structural Mechanics & Analysis Methods within the Aero-Thermal & Mechanical Systems Organization, you will provide technical leadership and perform research and development in structural mechanics, analysis methods, and related fields. Your work will focus on developing and implementing innovative material and structural solutions for a wide variety of applications.
**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Lead structural design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and systems with a wide variety of material compositions (e.g., metals, composites, additive or other complex multi-material structures).
+ Carry out project planning and execution from system-level architecture through detailed design and manufacturing. Define requirements and execute design and analysis tasks using proprietary and commercial FEA solvers, analysis systems and databases to predict the structural response of mechanical components and systems.
+ Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing multidisciplinary team. Support team members' technical and professional growth through regular feedback, coaching, and goal setting. Establish mechanisms for proactive communication to ensure transparency and alignment.
+ Foster collaboration within the project team, working closely with support functions and/or external suppliers to achieve project deliverables.
+ Participate in project and technical reviews, and prepare presentations, reports, and publications for the engineering community, GE Aerospace business, and/or external agencies.
+ Foster a culture rooted in GE Aerospace behaviors: respect for people, continuous improvement, and customer driven
+ Own the development and maintenance of technology roadmaps and demonstrate accountability for a pipeline of funded projects
+ Work with internal and external collaborators in developing new project proposals and initiatives. Provide technical guidance and mentoring across the group to grow overall technical capability and product knowledge in technical focus areas.
+ Interact with senior external personnel to align research and development efforts with expectations. Represent GE Aerospace as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.
**Required Qualifications**
+ PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Applied Mechanics with a strong background in structural design and analysis with a minimum of 7 years of industrial experience or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Applied Mechanics with a strong background in structural design and analysis and a minimum of 10 years of industrial experience.
+ Strong technical skills in structural mechanics and finite element methods.
+ Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills in a global team environment.
+ Ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team.
+ Extensive experience and high proficiency with commercial FEA packages such as Ansys and LS-DYNA (including advanced meshing tools and non-linear analysis).
+ Extensive experience with product design constraints, manufacturing techniques and material processing selections for mechanical components and systems.
+ Experience in conceiving, developing, and carrying out experiments and transferring component level tests into full scale hardware solutions.
+ Strong analytical skills.

+ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
+ Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

**Desired Characteristics**

The base pay range for this position is $100,000 - $205,000 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on Oct 31st, 2025.

·         Author, design, and apply DOE and Combinatorial Testing (CT) to test case design.

·         Author, design, and apply STAT to test events.

·         Author, design, and execute STAT/DOE test cases by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically.

·         Maximize test coverage for the most critical features of the system.

·         Author documentation for STAT/DOE processes including test plans, test procedures, and test cases.

·         Design and build test STAT/DOE frameworks.

·         Identify which type of testing/test cases are going to have STAT/DOE applied and identify which test scenarios are suitable for STAT/DOE.

·         Experience with STAT/DOE software tools.

·         Implement an unbiased and statistically based test methodology for Tactical Data Link (TDL) message standard conformance that can ensure repeatability with a quantifiable increase in test space coverage.

·         Setup, deploy, and operate the STAT/DOE tools for executing test cases.

·         Perform Verification and Validation (V&V) of STAT/DOE tools.

·         Design and develop scripts in using programming languages such as Java, PHP, or Python.

·         Provide input to the test report, ensuring that all stated requirements and test objectives have been evaluated and the documented results adequately and accurately reflect the collected data and analysis conducted during the event.

Qualifications:

Minimum Position Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

·         Ability to apply STAT/DOE expertise through technology processes, methodologies, standards, or frameworks.

·         Demonstrated experience in applying STAT/DOE tools and applying STAT/DOE methodologies in an integrated test environment.

·         Experience using programming languages such as Java, PHP, or Python to develop code/scripts to execute STAT/DOE tasks.

·         Experience with the test and evaluation process from planning, execution, analysis, and reporting.

·         Ability to understand when to apply STAT/DOE and when it is not beneficial.

·         Ability to analyzing system requirements thoroughly to identify how to apply STAT/DOE of the requirements.

•         Ability to communicate technical content both orally and in writing.

·         Develop test documentation that includes, but not limited to test plans, test reports, test procedures, problem reports, architecture diagrams, and topical briefings.
