The Center is directed by Prof. Boris Kovatchev, PhD, a world-renowned researcher in the field of diabetes technology and data science. He is actively involved with Center projects and with the direction of all Center faculty. The Center's Associate Director for Research is Prof. Marc Breton, PhD, a control engineer who developed some of the most advanced artificial pancreas (AP) algorithms to date. Prof. Sue Brown, MD, leads the clinical aspects of the Center's work, including some of the largest randomized AP clinical trials in the World. In particular, the Center successfully completed three pivotal trials aiming for regulatory clearance of a new AID System developed at the Center in different age groups, all published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Currently, the Center has NIH RO1 and UO1 grants and long-term industrial arrangements for type 1 and type 2 diabetes research. The Center is translational in nature, focusing on continuity from vision, to research, to execution of clinical trials - an approach that allows our faculty to experience all aspects of the development of viable therapies.
The Center has a significant association with the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Pediatrics, the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and the Schools of Engineering and Applied Science and Data Science. The primary appointment for the successful candidate will be with Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the School of Medicine.
The Center faculty will provide mentoring for an assistant researcher, leading towards independence in translational and engineering research. The position provides a unique opportunity to align the research interests with clinical translation in effort to implement state-of-the-art, evidence-based preventive strategies and treatment opportunities for persons with diabetes.

The National Center for Additive Manufacturing Excellence at Auburn University, which was founded in 2017 through partnership with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA ) and the National Institute of standards and Technology (NIST ), is housed within Gavin Engineering Research Laboratory, a $20 million construction project created for laboratories and office spaces dedicated to additive manufacturing of metals.NCAME conducts research on improving the performance of parts that are created using AM, shares research results with industry and government collaborators, and responds to workforce development needs in the AM industry. The center is also a founding partner of theASTM International's Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE), which directs its efforts to the development of new standards for the AM industry, as well as research to advance AM technology and workforce development.

The Department of Emergency Medicine is led by Andrew E. Muck, MD, MBA, and includes adult care, pediatric care, and active air and ground transport programs. There is an established emergency medicine residency program and fellowships in Medical Toxicology, EMS, Cardiovascular Emergencies, Ultrasound, Research, Administration, Global Health, and Education. The UVA Health System is a 700-bed tertiary care and Level 1 trauma center with an annual ED census of 75,000 located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville, Virginia, a city that has been rated as one of the best places to live in the United States.
The department is seeking candidates that are focused on providing highly experienced strategic input, support, and leadership to research teams within the Department of Emergency Medicine and in collaboration with other teams, departments, organizations, and agencies. Position Description The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Oklahoma State University is looking for a Research Assistant Professor position within the department. This position will contribute to the undergraduate and graduate researcher training and participate in the development and preparation of manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals and abstracts for the submission to scientific meetings. The individual hired will work in collaboration with the Mysore laboratory ( ) and their salary will be covered by an NSF-funded project to develop novel approaches for plant genome editing and transformation. This project will use an engineered Agrobacterium strain expressing a type III secretion system that has been engineered to deliver proteins that enhance transformation and genome editing in plants. Plants such as Rice, Nicotiana benthamiana , and Arabidopsis will be used to optimize genome editing and transformation approaches. Once successful, these approaches will be used to edit desired genes in crops such as wheat, sorghum and soybean. This faculty role will support and expand the mission of the Functional Genomics Shared Resource (FGSR)-a multifaceted core facility that integrates cutting-edge gene-modulating technologies, genome-wide screening technologies, and advanced protein and antibody production services. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge biomedical research through collaborative projects, independent investigations, and core-based innovation. :Research & Innovation- Establish an independent research program aligned with functional genomics, cancer biology, or protein engineering.- Develop and apply genome-wide screening strategies and protein-based tools to investigate disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets.- Collaborate with FGSR leadership and users to co-develop innovative technologies and workflows.Core Integration & Scientific Support- Contribute to the scientific direction of the FGSR by supporting collaborative projects, protocol development, and technology integration.- Provide consultation and expertise to investigators on experimental design, data interpretation, and grant development.Teaching & Mentorship- Mentor trainees and junior scientists in molecular biology, biotechnology, and functional screening approaches.- Participate in graduate and professional education programs. Grants & Publications- Pursue extramural funding through NIH and other agencies.- Publish impactful research and contribute to collaborative manuscripts and core-supported publications.

The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization. This individual will work independently and in collaboration with Center for COMBAT Research leadership, associated investigators, and collaborators. We seek collaborative, highly motivated individuals who are excellent communicators, skilled in conceptualizing complex systems and logic models, and passionate about improving healthcare. This position focuses on the dissemination of trauma and psychological health research findings to military stakeholders and the implementation of evidence-based practices within military medical populations. Therefore, applicants should have experience working with, or significant interest in, military populations. This 1.0 FTE position will serve as an investigator at the rank of Research Instructor or Research Assistant Professor. This position is non-clinical and suitable for doctoral level applicants with relevant training and expertise. Job Description
The applicant should have long-standing experience in the field of drug discovery and development with some familiarity in translational cancer research. The applicant should be skilled in _in vitro_ techniques specifically 2D and 3D cell system, molecular biology, gene editing, microscopy, -omics, and animal studies. The candidate should also be fully trained in current cutting-edge technology including CRISPR/Cas9 mediated gene editing and should be able to apply these techniques to the field of drug development, or at the least help guide laboratory development of methodologies in these areas. Ideally, the candidate should also have experience in the development of nanotechnologies applied to cancer research, and in the methodologies deployed to study these drug candidates in various _in vivo_ models. We anticipate that research with this group of investigators will require a candidate able to merge all these different aspects of cancer research and new drug development.
Appropriate candidates will contribute to developing research grant proposals and may pursue independent research funding that complements ongoing lab research. Successful candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills as evidenced by a solid track record of scientific manuscripts and presentations.
The appropriate Candidate must have a PhD or MD/PhD or equivalent degree, with preference given to applicants with at least 4 years of post-doctoral research experience.
