Under general direction, the Research Program Manager will be responsible for managing, promoting, cultivating and overseeing all aspects of research, including management of a clinical research department(s).
**Job Description:**
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities, including but not limited to:**
**Manages and oversees a clinical research program(s). Leads the department in all aspects of the daily research operation.**
**Directly supervises the day-to-day operations of research providing direction and support to staff as needed.**
**Oversees and ensures staff compliance with the research protocols of the department.**
**Utilizes problem-solving skills and creates a proactive work environment in the maintenance of optimal department functioning.**
**Evaluates and revises departmental research practices and procedures.**
**Coordinates and facilitates research project team meetings, including creating agendas and generating minutes and action items.**
**Possesses direct knowledge and experience in the implementation of all aspects of clinical trials research complying with research SOPs, GCP, FDA and OHRP regulations; ensures adherence to regulations and educates study team members.**
**Functions as a resource and educator for research study team members and other colleagues related to research conducted within the department.**
**Acquires detailed knowledge of studies so to serve as a specialist; Grasps the scope and objectives of projects.**
**Triages calls from physicians, nurses, research staff or other colleagues.**
**Educates investigators and ensures necessary and up- to- date trainings as applicable (e.g., CITI certifications).**
**Evaluates and recommends recruitment efforts and practices.**
**Monitors study enrollment; Identifies and addresses recruitment barriers.**
**Manages conflict.**
**Expands research opportunities by soliciting sponsors and CRO's for new trials: Actively seeks new research opportunities.**
**Completes and submits trial feasibility forms; coordinates and obtains non-disclosure agreements.**
**Reviews new protocols for feasibility, capability, logistics, personnel needs, etc.**
**Establishes relationships with sponsors and/or CROs; arranges and/or conducts pre-study qualification and site visits.**
**Develops new research initiatives in collaboration with physicians and sponsors; project management.**
**Assists physicians with study protocol development; development and management of single center and/or multicenter projects as a sponsor- investigator.**
**Assists in designing studies of drug utilization, clinical practices, and patient care processes.**
**Assists with chart review submissions and implementation.**
**Designs and implements improvement projects based on study results.**
**Actively involved in development of research trial budgets; works closely with Research Finance to develop appropriate budget and contract preparation and negotiation; works collaboratively with Research Finance to oversee Medicare compliance in research visit billing; monitors research budget and corresponding enrollment status.**
**Ensures research staff is operating within budget constraints.**
**Assists with the acquisition, development, submission and maintenance of grants; seeks out funding opportunities.**
**Assists in preparing summary reports, study results, poster presentations and manuscripts for publication; reviews scientific literature.**
**Maintains an up-to-date listing of research activities, including research publications and presentations.**
**Assists with statistical planning and analysis as applicable, functions as a liaison between statisticians and physicians.**
**Participates in continuing education activities and attends conferences/seminars to maintain current knowledge of clinical study affairs and issues.**
**Participates and assists in other research projects and initiatives as necessary.**
**Is a team player within the department.**
**Is flexible with time when applicable.**

**Minimum Qualifications:**
**Education:**
**Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.**
**Licensure, Certification & Registration** **:**

**Experience** **:**
**7+ years of direct work-related experience in a research setting required.**
**Leadership and project management experience required; Epic experience a plus.**

**POSITION DETAILS**
The Asian American / Asian Research Institute (AAARI), based in Manhattan, seeks a full-time Research Programs Director to lead, coordinate, and expand its applied research agenda on issues affecting Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in New York City and State. Reporting to the Dean of AAARI, the Research Director will work closely with faculty, community partners, and policymakers to produce data-driven reports and public scholarship that inform policy and promote equity. This is a full-time position, funded through at least June 30, 2026, with possible continuation of the position beyond that date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and manage applied research projects on topics, such as education, health, housing, labor, and immigration impacting AAPI communities
- Supervise and support research staff, consultants, and student interns
- Serve as lead or co-author on publications and policy briefs
- Develop and manage data systems, including quantitative and qualitative datasets
- Collaborate with faculty and community-based organizations on participatory research
- Represent AAARI in meetings with city and state agencies, funders, and advocacy coalitions
- Identify funding opportunities and contribute to grant writing
- Assist in presenting research findings through briefings, panels, and public events, which may sometimes involve out-of-town travel

**QUALIFICATIONS**
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required, as well as a thorough knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements and grant and contract management.
Additional qualifications include:
- Master's degree or PhD preferred, including degrees in public policy, sociology, education, public health, Asian American studies, ethnic studies, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with census data, surveys, and/or program evaluation
- Proficiency with statistical analysis software and GIS software
- Familiarity with NYC/NYS policy issues and AAPI community needs
- Excellent writing and communication skills, especially for non-academic audiences and on topics relevant AAPI communities
- A track record of publishing research on AAPI communities in academic journals and producing high quality research reports on AAPI communities for public distribution
- Experience managing budgets and project deliverables
- Must be willing to work in Manhattan, the location of the Asian American / Asian Research Institute

Position Summary:

The Rebecca D. Considine Research Institute (RDCRI) seeks a highly experienced and motivated clinical researcher to serve as Vice Chair of Research for the Psychological Services & Behavioral Health Service Line (Service Line) and as a Senior Research Scientist. This dual-role position integrates leadership, research, education, and administrative responsibilities to advance the mission of RDCRI and Akron Children's.

The successful candidate will lead independent and collaborative research initiatives, oversee scientific resources, mentor junior scientists and trainees, and contribute to the strategic development of behavioral health research and education programs. Key Responsibilities

Research Leadership

Develop, maintain, and lead an independent, funded research program.

Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI on multisite and institutional projects.

Lead interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research teams.

Design and oversee scientific studies, including protocol development, data management, and quality assurance.

Identify and pursue funding opportunities; prepare and submit grant proposals and manuscripts.

Disseminate research findings through publications and presentations.

Strategic and Administrative Oversight

Participate in academic strategic planning for the Service Line

Facilitate the academic professional development of clinical scientists within the Service Line as well as interdisciplinary research efforts

Strategic recruitment of additional scientists and mentors

Collaborate with internal academic partners and external institutions

Serve on leadership committees and the Academic Steering Committee for the Service Line.

Coordinate with finance and post-award teams on budgeting and expenditures.

Education and Mentorship

Develop and supervise educational programs for students, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals.

Mentor junior scientists, research assistants, and clinical faculty in research design, IRB submissions, and dissemination

Qualifications

Doctorate (PhD, MD/PhD, OD/PhD, OD, DMin).

Minimum 7 years of independent and collaborative research experience.

Proven track record of research funding and senior authorship in high impact journals.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated success in mentoring and academic leadership.

Work Environment

Office, home office, and community settings.

Standard hours: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM4:30 PM; occasional evenings/weekends.
