Job Description
The Director of Athletics Research and Statistics serves as a key leader within the Bulls Branding Agency (BBA), overseeing the statistical reporting for South Florida athletics. This position is responsible for managing the collection and dissemination of accurate and timely information to promote the university's athletic programs. In addition to leading research and analytics efforts, the Director is responsible for updating the official athletics website, producing timely news releases, creating promotional content, and collaborating with campus partners to elevate the student-athlete experience. This role ensures that data and storytelling work hand-in-hand to enhance visibility, engagement, and support for South Florida Athletics.
Responsibilities
- Produce and maintain annual sport updates to program record books.
- Provide live statistics management for all home and applicable road events.
- Stat Notes for utilization by media outlets, Digital and Content Production, and other media.
- Complete Review and Editing of Roster Bios and Headshots
- Maintain and update the University of South Florida athletics website, including rosters, schedules, results, and player profiles.
- Provide supervision to one assistant and several student interns.
- Coordinate live statistics and game-day coverage for home athletic events. Submit timely statistics, reports, and required materials to the American and the NCAA.
- Assist with promoting special events including senior days, athletic awards, and campus-wide initiatives.
- Maintain historical records, statistics, and media archives for all of the Bulls' athletic teams.
- Support student-athlete recognition, including weekly honors, all-conference nominations, and awards submissions.
- Coordinate student workers and/or volunteers assisting with research and statistics and gameday operations.
- Attend home athletic contests and occasional away events as needed.
- Comply with safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree -OR- equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Minimum 5+ years related experience.
•Minimum 1+ years supervisory/managerial experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Communications, Sports Management, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field required.
- Experience in sports information, athletic communications, or a similar field preferred (college, high school, or professional level acceptable).
- Strong writing and editing, with demonstrated ability to produce timely content.
- Familiarity with website content management systems (preferably SIDEARM Sports or PrestoSports).
- Working knowledge of live statistics software (such as NCAA LiveStats, StatCrew, or PrestoStats) is preferred.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends in alignment with the athletics competition schedule.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Combination of office and athletic event settings.
- Requires frequent evening and weekend work.
- Must be able to move throughout campus facilities and athletic venues.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds for equipment setup.

+ Process and clean multi-omics datasets (genomics, proteomics, etc.) related to schizophrenia research.
+ Integrate multiple high-dimensional datasets using canonical correlation methods.
+ Modify and adapt existing statistical methods (e.g., SGTCCA-NET) for the project's needs.
+ Develop and implement novel statistical approaches for multi-omics network analysis.

The Office of Survey Methods Research within BLS conducts research to develop behavioral and statistical methods to improve BLS surveys. In this role as a Supervisory Research Mathematical Statistician, you will lead a team and partner with them to conduct research to devise novel statistical methodologies. You will present your findings at research conferences and play a leadership role by partnering with researchers and leaders in both government and academia. You will serve as an expert methodologist who consults with BLS survey programs to develop and implement statistical methodologies that improve the quality of estimation and prediction for published statistics.
Our researchers possess expertise in survey design and the analysis of survey data, including nonparametric estimation methods, machine learning approaches and Bayesian hierarchical probability modeling. Our methods are used to conduct unbiased inference about an underlying population estimated on data acquired from a survey of that population and to develop accurate uncertainty quantification under dependence induced by the survey design used to collect the data. We are exploring various approaches to encode formal privacy protection into data products released to the public. Our data are typically time- and spatially-indexed and our statisticians express expertise in accounting for these sources of dependence.

Job Responsibilities
As an intern working in data science, operations research, math or statistics, you will work alongside a team of experts to apply your knowledge and gain hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:

Data analysis and visualization

Augmented decision-making and trusted analytics

Applied mathematics, statistics, and optimization

Simulation and computational analytics
-
Systems modeling and analysis
-
Operational effectiveness and efficiency
-
Knowledge discovery
-
Next-generation data environments
Basic Qualifications
-
Must be a full-time student pursuing an accredited degree program in Data Science, Math, Statistics, Operations Research or related disciplines.

Must continue to be enrolled the semester following the internship.
-
Foundational knowledge of data science, math, statistics or operations research methodologies, frameworks, tools and/or programming languages.
-
Must have sustained excellence in academic performance.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience applying data science, math, statistics or operations research concepts in an internship, research, or lab setting.
-
Proficiency using data science, math, statistics or operations research methodologies, frameworks, tools and/or programming languages.
-
Demonstrated interest in serving the public through previous work experience, volunteer activities, or other relevant engagements.
Clearance: In addition to passing MITRE's employment background check, you may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance. This is determined by the Department of Defense's adjudicative guidelines for receiving a clearance, to include U.S. citizenship. Other jobs may require vetting for various levels of agency public trust, fitness, suitability, controlled access, and special programs access determination consistent with the work program to which you are assigned.
