+ Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
+ Clean, maintain and prepare supplies and work areas and may be responsible for ordering of supplies. Collaborates with Purchasing and may be responsible for negotiating with vendors.
+ Conduct standardized biological, microbiological or biochemical tests and laboratory analyses, including the collection of information and samples from organic substances, such as blood, drugs, and animals.
+ Isolate, identify and prepare specimens for examination.
+ Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings, including grant preparation and presentations, and look for opportunities to co-author publications. May be expected to participate in formal and information presentations of results to staff.
+ Participate in grant application process and manuscript preparation as required.
+ Maintains detailed notebook of all work-related activities.
+ Monitors laboratory work to ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety information as well as the standard operation procedures specific to each laboratory.
+ Expected to provide intellectual and interactive commitment to position by keeping up with appropriate literature and research publications.
+ May be responsible for the development, modification and improvement of standard operating procedures.
+ Uses computers, computer-interfaced equipment, robotics or high-technology applications to perform work duties.
+ May be responsible for designing and executing advanced experiments and setting strategy.
+ May be responsible for the examination of animals and specimens to detect the presence of disease or other problems.
+ May be responsible for monitoring laboratory budgets.
+ Bachelor's Degree required with a major in biology or chemistry preferred.

The primary responsibility of the research technician will be to assist the research scientist in the lab with routine experiments.
The techniques the technician will be expected to perform after receiving appropriate training include:
+ Mouse colony maintenance
+ setting up and monitoring breeding pairs
+ tagging and ear clipping of pups
+ performing genotyping PCRs
+ monitoring of experimental mice (recording of weights, body condition, etc.)
+ Preparation of mouse tissue samples for histological analysis
+ Immunohistochemistry/Immunofluorescence staining & imaging
+ Preparation of samples for DNA/RNA/protein analysis (PCR, Western blotting, etc.)
+ Keeping a detailed record of all experimental procedures and results
In addition, approximately 20% of this role will be allocated to provide general support to the entire lab by recording of consumable inventory, placing orders for routine lab supplies, and maintaining stocks of common lab reagents.
The technician will be trained and supervised by the research scientist with whom they will work on a day-to-day basis.
A two-year commitment is strongly preferred.

**What You'll Do:**
+ The agronomy technician will assist with the central coordinator for agronomy on matters concerning both administrative and operations.
+ Assist in scheduling, coordination and operation of farm and spraying equipment (such as Hagie and Millers, and Tractors). Always ensure the proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and ensure product label directions are followed.
+ Assist with data entry in the Agronomy Databases
+ Assist with printing and posting WPS records.
+ Assist with IPM chemical inventory management and tracking.
+ Assist with spraying, chemigation, posting signs, cleaning equipment, replacing nozzles, etc.

Assist ophthalmologist in surgery, perform ophthalmic clinical photography and fluorescence angiography, and electrophysiological and microbiological procedures. Perform ophthalmology clinic activities.
- Prepares patients and performs as special surgical assistant in all types of ophthalmic surgery.
- Administers ophthalmic drops and ointments, applies ocular dressings, performs suture removal, and obtains eye cultures.
- Performs general ophthalmic procedures in preparing preoperative and postoperative patients.
- Takes ophthalmic photographs.
- Prepares injectable ophthalmic anesthetics and antibiotics.
- Assist surgeons in performing surgical and laser procedures in the clinic and operating room as required.
- Assist provider in the examination and treatment of ophthalmology patients. This assistance includes, but is not limited to the following:
o Examine records and forms and prepare patients for current exam and treatment.
o Prepare appropriate equipment and instruments for surgery and follow-up care.
o Assist ophthalmologist by performing technical tests and records results for procedures for the ophthalmologist's analysis and interpretation.
o Assist in refractive/diagnostic procedures to include manual manifest refractions, auto-refractometry, corneal topography, pachymetry, keratometry, ocular photography, and visual fields and pupillary reflex testing and other duties as assigned.
o Prepare anesthetics and antibiotics.
o Apply ocular dressings.
Conducts vision screening tests to include, but not limited to, the following:
o Visual acuity, color vision, tonometry, visual fields, pupil exams, and other technical tests required by the ophthalmologist.
o Record data of above tests and determines need for further evaluation.
o Prepare, clean, sterilize, and maintain proper stock of all surgical equipment, instrumentation, and medications.
o Prepare procedure room.
- Assist the ophthalmologist with clinical procedures and performs as special assistant, using procedures pertaining to all types of ophthalmologic surgeries.
- Prepare patients for and performs general preparation of pre-operative patients. Provide post-operative instructions as directed by the physician.
- Assist provider in contact lens cleaning, dispensing, insertion/removal, and patient instruction. Prepare and fit patients with special optometric devices as instructed by the provider. Instruct patients in correct care, hygiene post-procedurally.
- Order and maintain ophthalmologic medications, supplies and equipment for use by the physician. Perform routine checks of medications and sterile instrument packs for expiration dates.
- Maintain and perform required periodic calibration checks on surgical instruments and equipment. Perform user maintenance checks on specialized clinic and surgical equipment. Perform calibration checks on clinical diagnostic equipment and documents such calibration according to specification listed on equipment.
- Maintains all inventory of supplies and orders in timely manner.
- Trains and assists other ophthalmic staff as needed.
- Performs administrative and clerical duties in support of the Warfighter Eye Center. Maintains database of laser center patients and candidates. Possess basic computer skills (i.e.: typing) and be familiar with common work processing programs. Performs daily clinic functions with guidance from the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) or Chief of Ophthalmology.
- Maintain databases on all patients undergoing refractive surgery, cataract surgery, corneal collagen cross- linking, and other surgical procedures at JBER. This includes data entry, data management, data analysis, quality assurance of data quality, and nomogram analysis as determined necessary by the OIC of the Warfighter Eye Center and Chief of Refractive Surgery. Data includes tracking of all pre-operative, post- operative, and intraoperative data for all patients. Data quality, accuracy, security, and integrity are top priorities of the database.
- Arranges and schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services. Utilizes Composite Health Care System (CHCS)/Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) system tools (detail codes, freezing slots, and TRICARE on-line usage) to facilitate maintenance of appointment slots, rescheduling options, or cancellation processing. Creates appointment schedules and templates in patient appointment computer system. Performs surgical scheduling for the Warfighter Eye Center. Contacts patients to schedule, reschedule, and/or cancel appointments for weekly surgeries. Prepares surgical charts for patients. Organizes and contacts patient for needed information, and reviews records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency within established guidelines. Enters patient surgical profiles in Preventive Health Assessment and Individual Medical Readiness (PIMR).
- The Contractor shall maintain patient confidentiality according to MTF standards.
- The Contractor shall complete required training and develop skillsets to perform and participate in research and clinical trials. Research training shall include any mandatory requirements as defined by the research activity or clinical trial. It may include but is not limited to: Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) training, certification or training on any research equipment, and any others, as specified by the research activity or clinical trial. The Warfighter Eye Clinic will provide all required training to contract employees for participation in research activities and clinical trials. Research training and requirements shall be developed, facilitated and/or approved by the OIC of the Warfighter Eye Center.
- Completes required, third party, research training within 3 months of hire to support ongoing clinical research efforts.
- Provides accurate clinical research data to the Chief of Ophthalmology.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications:**
*** Education:** As a minimum this position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
* **Experience:** A minimum of two years' experience in ophthalmology to include assisting in minor surgery. The Contractor shall possess two years previous experience working as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) in an Ophthalmology Clinic that performs refractive surgery or Refractive Surgery Clinic performing functions stated. This requirement may be waived by the Officer in Charge (OIC) depending on qualifications. Must have knowledge of ocular anatomy; ophthalmic medications; visual physiology, optics; use and maintenance of ophthalmic instruments and testing equipment; ophthalmic and medical regulations; medical terminology; optometric technology; asepsis; ocular referrals and emergency medical treatment; patient transportation; medical ethics; medical administration; surgical instruments and equipment; ophthalmic injectable medications; anesthetic solutions; and ocular disorders.
*** Life Support Certification:** Possess and maintain a current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
*** Security:** Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.

**Job Summary**
We are looking for a Research Technician II to join our Insourcing Solutions team located in Dixon, CA.
As the Research Technician II, you will join our high-throughput Animal Reproductive Technology Animal Care (ART-AC) team in Dixon, CA. The successful candidate will work closely with the ART-AC team to support custom mouse model creation, cryopreservation, rederivation, cross by microinjection and IVF, etc. Responsibilities include husbandry and other duties including lab support and work as assigned.
Additional responsibilities include:
+ Perform rodent husbandry duties, such as room sanitation, cage change, daily health checks, post-operative monitoring, breeder setup and takedown, tail biopsy for genotyping, cross-fostering, wean, etc. and specialized tasks such as hormone administration via intraperitoneal injection, estrus check, plug check, colony and room transfer, pseudopregnant and stud male colony management, stud male vasectomies and sterility testing, and other support tasks for the ART (Animal Reproductive Technology) and microinjection labs.
+ Exhibit professional and collegial behavior, communication skills, and expected to participate in discussions at unit meetings.
+ Serve as a mentor to less experienced staff, including periodic review of data processes and reports to the lab manager.

**Job Qualifications**
Education/Experience:
