+ The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT), within the Ohio Scope of Practice, provides therapeutic procedures and diagnostic testing to chronically and acutely ill patients requiring respiratory procedures.

+ Experience: Clinical experience in adult and neonatal respiratory therapy procedures such as aerosolized delivery of medication, mechanical ventilation, assisting with intubations and extubations, pulmonary function studies, emergency care, and obtaining and interpreting arterial blood gases.

**General Summary**
Provides direct care to patients by performing a variety of duties, including assisting with data collection, provision of care, completion of selected therapeutic interventions, and documentation of care provided for a specified group of patients. The purpose of the Respiratory Therapy Intern Program is to provide the RT student therapist with enhanced experiential learning and improve clinical competence in an acute care setting. The respiratory intern is accountable to a designated preceptor and department manager.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Provides information needed by the registered respiratory therapist to coordinate the care for the patient and family.
