- JOB SUMMARY
Evaluates processes and controls across all areas of the organization, including such activities as routine testing, reporting, supporting the implementation of continuous improvements in end-to-end processes and internal controls.
- WHAT YOU WILL DO

+ Ensures appropriate controls exist and are formalized for specific policies and processes, including:
+ Collaborating across all functions and business areas to gain a granular and strategic understanding of processes, policies, and control activities within scope, ensuring these are documented in a systematic manner.
+ Ensuring appropriate controls are in place across the organization that are in alignment with the strategy, policies, and risk appetite of the business.
+ Identifying potential unknown or unmanaged risks and promptly escalating issues or concerns.
+ Maintaining current knowledge of organizational policies, standards, and practices to ensure appropriate alignment.
+ Supporting control improvement actions through expertise, constructive challenge, and partnering with other areas of the business/group.
+ Ensures controls effectiveness are reported accurately and timely, including:
+ Responsible for ensuring that the group controls matrix (GCM) and other controls documentation is kept current. This includes partnering with department heads to coordinate and formalize new/enhanced controls.
+ Preparing the semi-annual GCM submission and management attestation to Group, ensuring an accurate reflection of the risk and controls environment.
+ Performing independent testing of internal controls on a rolling basis throughout the year, in compliance with GCM requirements and any additional business needs.
+ Preparing regular updates for management on the state of the internal controls' environment, in particular monitoring actions to address control weaknesses.
+ Drives continuous improvement of controls effectiveness and efficiency, including:
+ Developing a granular understanding of the drivers behind control issues and facilitate standardization of activity/processes, including leveraging technology.
+ Reducing reliance on manual and mitigating controls.
+ Streamlining control design and ensuring consistency across all locations.
+ Guide the business in navigating risks by promptly identifying, assessing, and communicating risks, including:
+ Developing a deep understanding of the risks, probability, and impact to the business, and identifying possible mitigations.
+ Coordinating risk self-assessments from across the business and using data to challenge and enhance management's evaluation and mitigating actions.
+ Providing support with compiling risk management reports / submissions to Group, as required.
+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
- REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field of study and 3+ years related work experience or High School Diploma / GED and 7+ years related work experience in assurance, risk, and controls.
+ Related work experience to include:
+ Internal / external audit, risk management, and / or business improvement
+ Financial accounting or assurance
+ Project management
+ Must be 21 years of age or older.
Knowledge of:

Job Description
The Manager, Risk & Controls will play a key role in supporting the design, documentation, and execution of the company's internal control framework for financial reporting and to help maintain the company's SOX compliance program. This role will oversee control documentation, testing coordination, and risk assessments across finance processes. The manager will work closely with internal teams and external auditors to ensure a strong, compliant control environment as Versant establishes itself as a standalone company.
Key Responsibilities
+ Maintain and update internal control documentation in accordance with SOX 404 requirements, including risk control matrices, process narratives, and flowcharts
+ Support process owners in the design and implementation of internal controls across financial reporting, working closely with Controllership and Operational Finance
+ Coordinate and support walkthroughs, testing, and control evaluation with internal and external auditors
+ Track deficiencies and remediation plans across all business processes; partner with stakeholders to ensure timely resolution and appropriate documentation
+ Conduct periodic risk assessments to ensure control environment reflects changes in systems, process, and organizational structure
+ Assist in the development and rollout of training materials and tools to educate control owners and process teams on SOX expectations and documentation standards
+ Work with the VP of Technical Accounting & Policy to prepare materials for senior leadership on control effectiveness, risk exposure, and compliance status
+ Collaborate with IT and Finance Systems teams to evaluate automated controls, change management protocols, and system access controls within SAP, OneStream, and Workiva
+ Participate in process improvement initiatives that reduce risk and enhance audit readiness
+ Serve as a point of contact during audits for coordination, evidence requests, and inquiry responses
+ Ensure consistent execution of controls across functions by embedding control procedures into day-to-day business operations
+ Support onboarding of new process owners and business areas into the SOX framework and advise on control design for new or evolving operations
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; CPA preferred.
+ 4+ years of experience in financial accounting, audit, or policy roles or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Experience working in a publicly traded company or a Big 4 accounting firm is preferred.
+ Understanding of SEC reporting, U.S. GAAP, and SOX compliance requirements.
