The Senior Road Construction Estimator position is responsible for using a combination of past experiences and project specifications to accurately project the amount of materials, equipment, and man hours that must be utilized to complete a given project. Based upon these calculations, they create a project budget that is then presented to Management.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Prepares detailed estimates by completing takeoff, using past cost history, and conferring with field personnel.
- Maintains files of working documents as a backup for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
- Prepare detailed reports, and information packets and communicate all aspects of the bid to field personnel on awarded bids.
- May review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality of availability of materials.
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and the environment. Report any problems to the Estimating Manager, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager
- Minimum supervision provided when estimating items in own discipline.
- Independently estimates a large-sized project.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Regular and timely attendance
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
- 10 years’ of construction estimating experience.
- Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.

- Demonstrate proficiency with estimating and bidding software.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.

Key Responsibilities
Estimation & Bid Management
- Analyze requirement documents, blueprints, and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and confirm material pricing using digital takeoff software or blueprint reviews.
- Lead preparation and submission of bid proposals, ensuring compliance with bid instructions and regulatory requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales & the Project team to ensure accurate scoping and estimate alignment.

- Attend bid openings and pre-construction meetings as necessary.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Stay current with ODOT, DOT, and OSHA standards as well as prevailing wage guidelines.
- Help maintain a library of unit pricing and historical project cost data to inform future bids.
- Participate in the ongoing refinement of estimating SOPs and templates using Deltek and Microsoft tools.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in construction estimating, ideally with a general contractor or heavy highway firm.
- Strong background in roadway, traffic control, or pavement marking projects.
- Proven experience estimating public works and prevailing wage projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Deltek (or similar estimating/project management tools).
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, OnScreen Takeoff, or other digital takeoff platforms is a plus.

ResponsibilitiesMV Transportation is seeking aRoad Supervisor . The Road Supervisor will monitor street operations according to client, operations, and safety department requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct site checks and road observations according to client and local policy. Document findings accordingly and provide necessary reports to project staff.
- Conduct wheelchair securement and vehicle cleanliness checks on in service vehicles.
- Monitor street operations for on-time performance and schedule and route adherence.
- Provide customer information for site personnel and at key locations.
- Respond to accidents and incidents assisting to manage the situation as well as collecting all required information, assist dispatch and operations staff in resuming service levels according to contract specifications and minimizing passenger disruptions.
- Accompany operators to medical facilities as required after accident or injury, ensure proper administration of post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
- Fill vacant shifts as necessary to ensure full service delivery.
- Conduct gate checks at pull-out or pull-in times ensuring on-time service and proper completion of necessary paperwork including manifests and pre- and post-trip inspections.
- Identify potential rerouting required as a result of traffic, construction or accident situations.
- Ensure that all operators are fit for duty, meet uniform and equipment standards and are in possession of proper licensing and certifications.
- Assist operators with service or passenger problems.
- Assist Operations and maintenance staff with vehicle change outs that occur in the field.
- Provide feedback to safety and operations departments on service items that affect safety and performance, identify potential safety hazards and provide feedback to be incorporated into daily operations procedures.
- Assist in determination of preventability of accidents and incidents and make recommendations for future training based on individual events or on system trends.
- Accurately document all field observations and ensure file maintenance.

What will your job look like?
The Road Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all fleet operations meet company standards and are in compliance with all governmental or regulatory standards. Ensure efficient mechanical operation and appearance of each vehicle is maintained. Monitor all accident and injury investigations. Monitor comments and complaints of passengers regarding service, especially feedback regarding the safety of passengers. Ensure all daily routes are supplied with drivers. Develop utilization reports to establish cost effective routes and schedules to meet the needs of the customer and client.

What you’ll do:
- Oversee on time performance measures of drivers, monitor driving and safety practices of drivers daily
- Provide oversight of fleet maintenance program
- Respond and coordinate data and photo collection at accident and incident scenes
- Investigate and assist with accident determination
- Assist drivers with questions, customer assistance and overall on the road support
- Assist customers with information and complaint resolution
- Provide management with reports to assist with the evaluation of route and schedule effectiveness
- Perform additional duties as assigned or required
What you’ll need:
Experience, Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in a related field preferred
- A minimum of two (2) years' experience as a driver in a similar service
- 1 year experience in safety & on-the-road service management
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
- No suspensions, DUI, or More than 1 citation in the past 5 years
- Must pass criminal background check
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
- Regular attendance is required
Skills:
- Knowledge of Safety and training practices and procedures
- Ability to communicate, teach and mentor employees
- Must be able to demonstrate conflict resolution skills
- Quick to process information and make adjustments or recommendations
- Skills in the use of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel and other Microsoft applications
Even better if you have.
- Experience working in a supervisory role preferred
- Knowledge of DOT and FTA safety regulations preferred
- Thorough knowledge of accident investigation preferred
