Job Description

WSP is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week), **Roadside Assistance Driver** in **Aurora, CO** .
The Roadside Assistance Driver provides roadside assistance to stranded motorists, including tire changes, battery jumps, filling overheated radiators, providing gasoline, etc., and keeping the E-470 Beltway free of minor road hazards and trash. Roadside Assistance Drivers will also perform emergency traffic control at incident scenes by using cones, flares, or an RA vehicle to temporarily close travel lanes, entrance and exit ramps, or the entire road. Roadside Assistance will also pick up trash and debris on the roadside when weather permits.
**Schedule: Wednesday-Sunday 2pm - 10pm Off Monday and Tuesday**
+ Additional hours may be available to cover days off, vacations, business need, etc.
+ May be reassigned on a long term or temporary basis to another location, other shifts, or other schedules, to balance manpower or meet the needs of the company.

**Expected hourly rate is: $24.29 per hour**
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
+ Assist with the removal of roadway hazards, roadway debris, roadside litter, and roadside debris by walking the road right of way and collecting litter, trash, and debris then depositing into plastic bags. These bags will then be loaded into a vehicle and transported to a central collection point and deposited into dumpsters. Animal carcass removal may be required - large animals must be removed from travel lanes where a vendor service will collect the animal carcass. Small animal carcasses will be relocated to unpaved areas of the roadside.
+ Safely, carefully, and professionally performing all emergency roadside services, including but not limited to: using a jack to safely lift a motor vehicle; changing a tire, filling a tire with air, jump-starting a battery, filling a gas tank with a small amount of gasoline or diesel fuel, filling coolant reservoirs, adding additional oil to an engine, using deicer or washer fluid to clean or unfreeze windshields, securing cargo loads, and assisting other minor mechanical issues.
+ Operate a motor vehicle to respond to service calls quickly and safely while complying with applicable state and federal laws.
+ Respond to crashes and incidents occurring on the tollway and providing temporary traffic control measures while assisting police, fire, EMS, and towing personnel when necessary. These include placing road cones and/or LED flares in live travel lanes, using the Roadside Assistance truck as a traffic control apparatus, sweeping debris out of travel lanes, placing quickdry for fluid spills, using push bumpers to move inoperable vehicles out of travel lanes, or pulling a vehicle using a tow rope.
+ Patrol toll plazas and maintenance sites to ensure security measures are in place and there are no active issues such as fires or burst water pipes.
+ Assist with transporting inter-office mail and other supplies as needed.
+ Perform clerical duties such as record keeping of daily vehicle inspection reports, incident reports, reviewing and responding to email messages, and complete required online and in person training courses.
+ Perform other job-related duties as assigned by a Supervisor or Manager.
+ Meet or exceed performance criteria established for the position including response time targets, litter removal or plaza security checks (dependent on shift), customer survey responses, safety standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
+ Maintain compliance with all company and client policies and procedures
+ Requires a minimum of one year of general work experience, preferably in an outdoor environment.
+ High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
+ Knowledge of car care and maintenance procedures and the ability to use equipment such as hydraulic jacks, booster cables, impact wrenches, air compressors and general tool sets preferred.
+ Experience with Traffic Incident Management, traffic control, traffic management, or incident management as well as associated training for any of those items is a plus.
+ Must possess a valid State of Colorado Driver's License and have a clean driving record.
+ National Incident Management System 100, 200, 700 Certifications are a plus.
+ Federal Highway Administration SHRP2/National TIM Responder Training certification is a plus.
+ Hazardous Material awareness or responder training and/or certification is a plus.
+ Must be able to communicate proficiently in English. Ability to speak other languages is a plus; Spanish is the second-most frequently encountered language.
+ Ability to react quickly, remain calm, and make decisions using good judgment based on training and standard operating procedures in emergency and non-emergency situations is a must. These qualities must often be shown while working in an outdoor environment that may include inclement weather conditions and heavy volumes of high-speed traffic.
+ Must be able to discern dangerous situations and avoid being struck by high-speed traffic which will be operating within 10' of work areas.
+ Must be able to perform constant physical labor including stooping, crouching, bending, lifting, twisting, etc. while outdoors in all weather conditions for full shift.
+ Must be able to spend long durations sitting in a vehicle seat.
+ Must be able to carry heavy objects such as hydraulic jacks and be able to run to avoid errant vehicles or to remove debris from the travel lanes.
+ Must be able to communicate and operate a cellphone.
+ Ability to work a variety of shifts as assigned, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Due to the nature of the position may require short notice overtime work. Due to the demands of this position outstanding attendance is required.
+ Maintain a clean, professional appearance and a friendly demeanor.
+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as emails, schedules, and procedure manuals.
+ Background screening and drug screening required for all candidates upon conditional offer of employment
+ Ability to achieve and maintain departmental performance standards.
+ Must wear ANSI Class III safety attire while working. Class III uniform shirts, jackets, rain/snow jackets, black pants, summer hats, winter hats, snake gaiters, work gloves, winter work gloves, high-vis balaclavas (face covering for cold weather, rain/snow pants, and ice cleats are provided. Employees must use their own undershirts, socks, and boots.
+ Initial safety and job training is required upon completion of onboarding.
+ Yearly re-certification exams are required, with a minimum passing score of 85% for a Level 1 Driver.
+ Yearly refresher training at the CDOT Traffic Incident Management track is required and furnished by WSP.
**Physical Requirements**
+ Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
+ Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
+ Frequently stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch, or crawl; reach with hands and arms; grasping and gripping or pinching of both hands.
+ Frequently sit in a vehicle for multiple hours and wear a seatbelt at all times while in the vehicle.
+ Ability to work in all weather conditions.
+ Uncorrected or corrected vision that is able to read written and electronic documents, understand and interpret information, type on a keyboard and tablet, use a mobile phone, read roadway signage, and read license plates.
+ Frequently communicate via speech, ability to hear and understand verbal speech to maintain communication
+ Daily use of computer and keyboard, tablet devices such as an iPad, vehicle touchscreens and steering wheel controls, standard office equipment, and mobile telephones.

AAA is seeking an ambitious individual to join our Roadside Assistance Team as a Fleet Supervisor in Charleston, WV on 1st Shift. This individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations at our Fleet Office and working directly with drivers and other supervisors to make sure we've got our members covered. We're looking for a team-oriented individual with strong customer service and coaching experience.


The primary duties of the Roadside Assistance Club Fleet Supervisor are:

  • Assist Roadside Assistance (RA) Club Fleet Management with the effective operation of AAA Club Alliance location(s), providing leadership to the RA Club Fleet drivers, dispatch and administrative staff, ensure staffing levels, performance and sales goals are met or exceeded.
  • Achieve and maintain consistent high-quality performance in the investigation and resolution of member/Roadside Assistance Programs (RAP) customer concerns, and to meet/exceed AAA Quality Standards and AAA Club Alliance standards.
  • Deliver extraordinary customer service to AAA members, RAP customers, and other AAA customers.
  • Utilize the RA Call Receiving and Dispatching system, monitor facility performance and service goals, and ensure both are met or exceeded.
  • Supervise assigned Club Fleet Associates and operations efficiently to ensure that productivity measurements for revenue, sales and contractor expense savings off-sets expense bottom line of profit and loss statements.
  • Participate in interviewing and selection process for team members; conduct employee counseling sessions and disciplinary sessions; participate and recommend action regarding all other associate issues.
  • Write performance appraisals, conduct performance evaluations, and establish and monitor individual and team goals in conjunction with AAA Club Alliance’s strategic and business plans.
  • Supervise driver activities, provide coaching and training; maintain time records and staff schedules.
  • Coordinate with RA Dispatch and Training to ensure day to day business decisions are in line with division objectives.
  • Ensure that vehicles assigned to fleet are maintained in safe operating condition and that operating systems function as designed by the manufacturer and that routine maintenance schedules are adhered to and maintained.
  • Ensure that all Federal, State, Local, regulations and Company policies and department guidelines are adhered to.
  • Handle difficult or escalated customer situations; respond promptly to customer needs; respond to requests for service and assistance; meet commitments and build/maintain positive work relationships with co-workers, other company associates and the public.
  • Investigate and resolve claims including, but not limited to, service delays, operator demeanor, service charges, mechanical repairs and vehicle damage from AAA Members and customers, ensuring all such issues are handled promptly in accordance with corporate and AAA standards.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed and appropriate safety standards are met; maintain safe working conditions; order safety equipment as directed.
  • In conjunction with the Fleet Manager and Corporate Risk Manager, investigate accidents and injuries; initiate preventative measures. Ensure all incidents are appropriately documented.
  • Identify and recognize unsafe conditions or work practices and report accordingly.
  • Oversee the accounts payable & receivable functions in accordance with company policies and business line guidelines.
  • Implement and assist with the development of the Fleet Services work plan; assign work activities and projects; monitor work flows; review and evaluate work product, methods and procedures.
  • Perform analyses to maintain and improve cost effective utilization of resources.
  • Participate in budget preparation and administration; prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations; submit justifications for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and control expenditures.
  • Respond to Roadside Assistance service requests and provide emergency services and/or towing for AAA members and customers in a prompt, professional, courteous and safe manner.
  • May schedule or perform repairs, preventive and routine maintenance and emergency/unscheduled maintenance tasks.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree with major course work in business, organizational management or related field or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ work experience in an automotive or dispatch environment or 5 years of experience in a fast paced, high volume customer service or sales role or the combination of automotive/mechanical and customer service/sales experience.
  • 1+ years’ leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Satisfactory completion of nationally recognized towing certification program such as the International Institute of Towing and Recovery (IITR) and Battery, Battery Warranty, Battery Sales and On-the-Go training classes in accordance with timelines established by AAA Club Alliance and AAA National Quality Standard 2.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
  • Satisfactory pre-and post-employment screening results, including criminal, drug and motor vehicle screening.
  • Ability to operate passenger vehicles and trucks with automatic and manual transmissions.
  • Must attain and maintain all state and local licensing requirements.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills to enable accurate completion of assignments and effective interaction with others.
  • Ability to function in a fast paced environment and have strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and business line technologies including MS Word, Excel, & Roadside Assistance call receiving and dispatching systems.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to adjust work schedule and priorities to meet business needs.

Salary Range:  $18.00 per hour

Hours include: Saturday- Wednesday 2:30pm to 10:30pm, with Thursday and Fridays off. 

Responsibilities
  • Helps customers with vehicle services, including but not limited to, flat tires, jumpstarts, minor repairs, and refueling
  • Provides assistance to stranded motorists
  • Facilitates the expedient flow of traffic through the roadway
  • Diverts traffic from the toll roads to alternate routes when a major incident occurs
  • Maintains a set of alternate routes and plans for implementing routes that will serve as a relief valve and carry a fraction of normal toll road traffic
  • Has thorough knowledge of all areas surrounding the toll road in order to provide motorists directions to locations in the city and local landmarks
  • Removes stalled vehicles from the toll lanes and ramps
  • Removes debris from the roadway and coordinates large debris pick-up and removal with DOT maintenance personnel
  • Coordinates with DOT for alternate routes for emergency conditions
  • Coordinates traffic at toll plazas to facilitate lane equipment maintenance
  • Coordinates with local law enforcement agencies
  • Removes vehicles from the lane once the situation has been stabilized
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicle
  • Arrives to work on time and in uniform for all scheduled shifts
  • Performs Plaza and Ramp checks
  • Performs other duties as assigned by on-site supervisors or managers
Qualifications

Education/Experience Required:   High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of experience and education

License Requirement: Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license

Availability to Work:   Special shift requirements, if any, will vary depending on a location's hiring needs. If applicable, availability to work 2nd shift, 3rd shift and/or week-ends may be required. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule

  • Ability to read, write and interpret the English language
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all areas and landmarks surrounding toll roads in order to provide directions to motorists
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; Able to deal with change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgment
  • Ability to maintain a calm, pleasant and mannerly demeanor when speaking with the public
  • Ability to effectively respond to customer problems or complaints. Superior communication skills, verbal and written
  • Must be proactive with strong personal drive and proven customer service skills and must be willing to lead by example
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, supervisors and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but standard written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Follow well defined methods, procedures, reports, forms and competent aspects of the job
  • Prepare, print, review and distribute all required such reports as needed, perform complete, accurate, and timely operations

Responsibilities
