Job SummaryThe Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing requirements, developing, implementing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software solutions for SOLD BY KAL products including but not limited to the following: driver development, application development, system software architecture, software test development, and customer assistance. - Design and implement ITU PON, OMCI, and multiple L2 networking protocols running on embedded network devices.
- Design and implement SDX OLT software including new features, maintenance and enhancement of existing products.
- Prevent defects from entering the code base through performing comprehensive automated unit and automated integration tests authored in parallel with code
- Design, implement and correct features for Mosaic Cloud Platform management solution.
- Design and implement high-level and low-level software design for new modules and enhancements to existing software.
- Partner with engineers and architects (software and systems) at different sites and cultures to successfully complete global projects
- Model and define APIs using YANG, CLI, MIBs or similar standards.
- Use Object Oriented Design methodologies, design patterns, algorithms and data structures
- Conduct and participate in design reviews and code reviews.
- Design and develop software in Linux Embedded systems.
- Apply multi-tasking and event driven aspects of developing software
- Lead development activities to meet schedule and product constraints.
- Design and maintain subsystems throughout the full software development life cycle of a software project
- Understand the product architecture, design, processes, and tools required to perform development tasks

- A solid foundation in computer science, with strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering is required.

- Experience with at least one modern scripting programming language (Python, Ruby, Groovy, Perl, Bash).
- Experience developing and deploying large scale applications.
- A good understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 data networking principles (TCP/IP, IP protocols, Ethernet switching, OAM) is required.
- Familiarity with lab test equipment that would be needed to unit or system level test the software component design is required.

Merchant Engineering's mission is to simplify commerce by providing a one-stop payment platform for all customer segments. We are the customer-facing teams within Product and Platform Engineering building the touch points that interact with our customers across all stacks (PayPal, Braintree and Hyperwallet), across all channels (online and in-store, web and mobile) for our Merchants. Within Commerce Solutions and Services, PayPal's Complete Payments team is looking for a talented Staff Software Development Manager with strong application engineering fundamentals and full stack development experience to design and build solutions supporting our merchant engagement strategy. Job Description:
Your Day-to-Day:
- Own concrete outcomes by building and rolling out technical and functional products and features.
- Ensure all deliverables adhere to the timelines, quality, and performance requirements.
- Build, nurture, and grow the engineering team to deliver relevant features and capabilities, while helping them grow their career at PayPal.
- Be constantly involved in the growth of team members and provide regular and constructive feedback and coaching as needed. Handle performance management, hiring and talent development processes.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to other software engineers.
- Apply best of class coding and design standards.
- Identify areas of technical improvement and make detailed business cases for improvements or new areas of opportunities.
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or related area.
- 8+ years of experience in software design, development and architecture.
- Led a team of at least 8 engineers for more than 3 years.
- Applied software quality tools and processes successfully for your teams.
- Delivered projects using agile methodologies.
- Designed and implemented high-traffic front or backend services.
- Worked in projects using SQL and NoSQL solutions.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Very strong verbal and written communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn new technologies and adapt quickly.
- You have coached engineers, advocated good coding practices, processed adherence and continuous improvement in these areas.
- Been in a project requiring you to effectively collaborate with remote teams across geographies and time zones.
- Preferably worked in a payments or finance-related industry before.
Actual Compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to work location, and relevant skills and experience.
