REPORTS TO: Feedmill Manager and Assistant Feedmill Manager
FLSA STATUS: Hourly, Ag Exempt
FUNCTION: Operates feed mill rolls to produce flaked grain for feed production. Performs the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Produces a consistent flake for feed ration by soaking, steaming, and rolling grain.
Monitors flake quality by sampling moisture and density at regular intervals.
Monitors mill equipment including steam chest, belts, bearings, motors, boiler, grain bins, and mixer; reports necessary repairs to appropriate maintenance employee.
Maintains flaking records by recording moistures and weights.
Works in various capacities when another employee is absent or as necessary; assists in sweeping and cleaning millwork areas.
Complies with applicable safety rules and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience operating heavy equipment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers; ability to compute rate, ration, and percent.

Hours/Shifts:
2nd shift: 3:00PM - 1:30AM Monday to Thursday, 1/hour shift premium
* Employees hired for 2nd shift will train on 1st shift for 6 months - 1 year.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Follows all established safety guidelines and production procedures, including those for ISO-9002/D1-9000
- Successfully completes all required training, including but not limited to STEPS program training (JIT, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and Six Sigma), Basic Math, Blueprint Reading and all trainee-level roll operator courses.
- Uses knowledge of Visual Software, Tickets and Labels Software, and Route Sheets to ensure production needs are accurately identified and recorded.
- Under direct supervision, will safely set-up the roll line and produce roll-formed parts while using blueprints and set-up charts and will assist with loading and unloading the materials from the equipment while using guarding, cranes, and bundling materials.
- Shall perform general housekeeping duties and actively participate in continuous improvement projects.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- One-to-three months experience, including: machine set-up, metal-working, welding/fabrication. Preferred experience includes performing part inspections, setting and running equipment,, and blueprint reading.
- Computer Skills are required - to perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Manufacturing software and ability to learn how to new programs.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. as needed
