SummaryThe Plate Roll Operator reports directly to the shift Foreman with the primary responsibilities of the rolling steel plate of varying size and thickness. Follows company policy and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities- Operates rolling machine to bend metal plates and/or sheets into cylinders.
- Able to start machine as well as set the feed speed of plate to run back and forth between rolls.
- Monitor and adjust roll between each pass as the workpiece forms into shape.
- Measures arcs with template.
- Set adjustment roll at angle to form conical shapes.
- Adjust roll to straighten warped or bent plate.
- Operate horizontal roll-forming machine to straighten or bend angles.
- Operate rolling machine to bend sheet metal to specified curvature.
- Comply with all Uni-Form Components Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Reads, interprets and understand job cards.
- Roll steel in accordance with a job card using plate rolls.

We are looking for a Press Brake & Roll Operator to join our team! This position rolls steel plates or other heavy plates to desired curvature by passing plate through roll machine. Hoists plate to level of rolls and inserts one edge under top roll, which is mounted directly above and centered between three bottom rolls. Operates HMI or manual controls to lower top roll onto plate. Starts roll program, which draws plate between the rolls, shaping it into an arc. Continues with program or manual controls to adjust top and side rolls passing plate between rolls until plate of correct curvature is obtained, which is determined by using a holding a template or radius gauge to the plate.
This is a full-time, union-hourly position located in Lancaster, PA. Hours are Monday-Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM; Overtime and Saturdays as needed (maximum of two required 6 AM - 12 PM).
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Sets up brake and prepares plate for rolling by forming ends to proper radii.
- May be required to check machine tolerances and assist in changing top roll per operational needs.
- Keeps notes on setpoints, rolling procedures, program creation and programing adjustments.
- Keeps work area and machine clean and free of tripping hazards.
- Lubricates Faccin Rolls on given schedule as required/directed.

- Aligns and tack welds plate edges when required.
- Use all necessary plate rolling and press brake equipment as required.
- Operates pendant controlled crane to move material in and out of brake and rolls.
- Directs helper or assistant or other classification assigned to assist him in the above operations.
- Plans work on irregularly shaped pieces. Sets up and adjusts forming rolls for various thickness of metals. Exercises judgment in estimating amount of spring in material which might affect the rolling.
- Performs plate grinding or other plate prep work as production demands require.
- May be required to operate powered lift truck.
- Performs related work as directed commensurate with this or lesser rated labor grades.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Must have mechanical aptitude and arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
- Experience operating an overhead crane / forklift operator
- Must be proficient in the use of hand tools including grinder
- Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination
- Computer Literacy; Microsoft Products, CAD Programming and ERP
- Must be organized with attention to detail
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
