**Responsibilities**
This position focuses on the design and specification of rotating equipment & their auxiliary systems in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries. Responsibilities include:
+ Perform rotating equipment technology selection.
+ Evaluate equipment sizing, design, and performance to meet process duty requirements.
+ Prepare specifications with sufficient detail to define the equipment scope and technical requirements, including auxiliary systems, for inquiry and order of equipment on projects.
+ Perform technical bid evaluations.
+ Review vendor documents submitted for review or approval. Act as the communication focal point for appropriate information/data between the vendor, client, and other disciplines.
+ Support installation, commissioning, and startup of rotating equipment.
+ Develop criteria, guidelines, and best practices for the equipment to provide for a safe, efficient, cost-effective, and reliable end product.

**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university.

+ Thorough (recognized authority) knowledge and application of: API standards for rotating equipment and their auxiliary systems; Best practices associated with rotating equipment and their auxiliary systems; Quality assurance methods and practices for manufacture of the equipment.

PURPOSE:
The Rotating Equipment Specialist reports directly to the Refinery's Reliability Lead and provides the necessary support to accomplish the refinery's reliability objectives for rotating equipment. This role is responsible to collect data, evaluate, troubleshoot, plan for improvements, and correct issues related to the reliability performance of the refinery's rotating equipment assets. This role requires technical acumen, and the ability to work hands on with stakeholders including maintenance, operations, technical, and management personnel. The successful candidate will have inherent knowledge of the types of rotating equipment onsite, and methodologies for monitoring, evaluating performance, and improving equipment that is not performing reliably.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads the rotating equipment reliability efforts in assigned areas of responsibility by providing technical assistance in resolving equipment performance, operation, and maintenance problems.
- Works safely each day in accordance with Calumet, regulatory and site procedures.
- Utilizes equipment and site data to evaluate and improve equipment specific reliability and maintenance strategies. Develop equipment asset strategies and champions reliability.

The **Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer** analyzes equipment histories, and trends; recommends and implements procedures, strategies, equipment, or designs that will eliminate defects and improve equipment and system reliability. The position also coordinates reliability program improvements and performs engineering in support of site operations and maintenance activities across multiple disciplines. The Reliability Team was developed to focus on the refinery as a whole, to key in on specific issues with the greatest impact on overall refinery performance. The multi-disciplined team works to generate ideas and actions, working with area personnel, and drives them through implementation, to improve performance of 'bad actor' equipment and systems, identify vulnerabilities and develop mitigation plans and long-term solutions, provide general oversight on project implementation, turnaround scope development, and maintenance prioritization.
**Responsibilities may include:**

The **Wood River Refinery** is located in Roxana, Illinois, about 15 miles northeast of St. Louis, Missouri, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, low-sulfur; heavy, high sulfur; and high-acid crude oil. The crude supply is sourced domestically or from Canada. Wood River produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, asphalt and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers by pipeline, rail car, barge and truck and are shipped to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.

Rotating Equipment Reliability (RER) Analysts are responsible for coordinating and leading the machinery reliability program for their assigned process unit(s). **Required Qualifications:**

+ Demonstrate a strong appreciation for referencing, interpreting, and applying DEPs, ASME, API, and other applicable standards
+ Stay abreast of new emerging technologies that positively impact the rotating equipment industry and strive to apply these technologies at the Norco Manufacturing Complex

+ Develop and optimize detailed overhaul scope for rotating equipment.
+ Perform technical evaluation of repair crews and supervisors supplied by selected contractors
