EHS Specialist
Job Description
As an EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as internal EHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in fostering a safe and compliant workplace by being actively engaged on the production floor, conducting audits, investigating incidents, and delivering training programs.
Responsibilities
+ Manage and support EHS compliance programs in alignment with regulatory requirements.
+ Develop, implement, and maintain EHS training plans covering topics such as RCRA, NESHAP, HAZCOM, Lockout/Tagout, Forklift, Crane, and PPE.
+ Coordinate or conduct environmental monitoring activities including air quality, stormwater, and waste management, along with permitting and associated documentation.
+ Perform safety and environmental risk assessments, inspections, and audits, and implement corrective actions as needed.
+ Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, collaborating with Human Resources on workers' compensation processes.
+ Maintain accurate EHS records and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and facilitate communication with internal teams and external agencies.
+ Partner with facility leadership and corporate EHS teams to enhance and standardize EHS policies and procedures.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
+ 4-5+ years of EHS experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with safety inspections, OSHA training, OSHA 30 certification, and job hazard analysis.
Work Environment
The position is set in a manufacturing shop floor environment, with work hours from 7 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The dress code is business casual.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.26/hr.

THE POSITION

Performs professional analytical and programmatic services in the areas of Risk Management, Safety/ Security and Drug and Alcohol.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Work Experience: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a closely related field and three (3) years of demonstrated professional-level experience in administering workplace safety/risk management.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License at the time of application.

Background Investigation: Employment with the Regional Transportation Commission in this position is contingent upon the results of a comprehensive background investigation, including qualifying education/experience verification, social security trace, criminal history records review, and driving history records check.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Plans, oversees, and participates in analyses/recommendations in regard to Workers' Compensation, Title VI ADA, FTA Public Transportation Agency System Plan (PTASP), FTA Drug and Alcohol, RTC Insurance, and Risk Management related matters. Analyze, investigate, and respond to issues and concerns as they relate to workplace safety. Prepares technical, statistical and narrative reports by conducting research, extracting information and compiling data to support risk management and safety/security programs and requirements. Provides lead direction for day-to-day risk management and safety operations. Manages agency compliance as it relates to the administration and implementation of Workplace Safety, Title VI, and other Risk/ Programs. Monitoring and oversight for contractor compliance with state and federal regulations; produces appropriate records and documentation; interprets and explains Workplace Safety (OSHA regulations), Safety/Loss Prevention, Property Insurance program requirements; conduct site visits with contractors, and coordinates with contract administrations regarding remediation of contractor deficiencies. Develops/maintains RTC policies and procedures; plans/reports/postings of assigned compliance programs for safety rules, policies and guidelines; prepare manuals; oversees the safety committee meetings and ensure compliance. Assists in monitoring budgetary accounts and purchase orders for Risk Management and Safety/Security matters. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals; recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. Provides information and assistance to internal and external customers as required with oversight of environmental assessments/testing and safety program requirements. Other duties as assigned.
GROUP INSURANCE - Health and dental insurance is available at a minimal expense to eligible employees, spouses and dependents. The RTC pays the monthly life insurance premium for eligible employees.

SERVICE CONNECTED DISABILITY INSURANCE - Eligible employees are covered by a Workman's Compensation Program in accordance with the provisions of the Nevada Industrial Insurance Act (NRS Chapter 616) and the Nevada Occupational Diseases Act (NRS 617).

LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE - The RTC pays a monthly premium toward a long-term disability plan for eligible employees.

VACATION - Vacation leave accrual is based on length of RTC employment. Initial accrual is at the rate of 3.08 vacation hours for each biweekly pay period.

SICK LEAVE - Eligible employees accrue 3.7 hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period. Employees completing 10 years of service accrue an additional .92 hours of sick leave per biweekly pay period.

MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES - Court leave, military leave, parental leave, leave without pay, blood donor leave, education leave, and RTC promotional/transfer application examination leave are available (upon approval) for eligible permanent employees.

RETIREMENT - Full-time employees become a member of the Nevada State Public Employees Retirement System under an employer paid plan.

LONGEVITY PAY - Effective July 1, 2021, permanent employees who have completed 5 full years of creditable service with the RTC are entitled to a one time longevity payment in addition to their base salary. Longevity is paid annually, in a one time lump sum amount, at the rate of .57 of 1% at 5 years.

CREDIT UNION - RTC employees and their families are eligible to join the Clark County Credit Union.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT - Eligible employees may be awarded tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of pre-approved, job related courses.

FMLA - Employees who have worked for the RTC for at least one year, and have worked at least 1,250 hours over the preceding 12 months are eligible for the provisions of the Family Medical Leave Act.

Position Description:

TheSafety Compliance Coordinator at Flatland Energy Services is responsible for promoting occupational health and safety awareness, ensuring compliance with company and client safety requirements, and maintaining training and documentation to support organizational safety goals. This position provides administrative and operational support for all safety compliance programs, with a strong emphasis on compliance platforms, drug testing, and safety training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain Operator Qualification compliance; conduct and assist in new hire orientation.
  • Conduct Operator Qualification testing for NCCER, EWN, and Veriforce.
  • Administer online safety training programs (KPA), including scheduling, assignment, and reporting.
  • Manage compliance acrossDISA, ISNetworld, Veriforce, and other client platforms to ensure accuracy and up-to-date status.
  • Coordinate and collect drug and alcohol testing, including DISA testing for onboarding and random programs.
  • Maintain records of all safety training, drug/alcohol testing, and compliance documentation.
  • Track and manage corrective actions, incident reporting, and safety statistics through KPA EHS and other tracking systems.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Record and distribute safety meeting minutes; prepare compliance reports, graphs, and presentations for leadership review.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and client requirements related to safety and health programs.
  • Provide administrative support for regulatory and client audits, including preparation and submission of required documentation.
  • Analyze safety data, identify trends, and recommend corrective measures to improve safety performance.
  • Support ongoing employee safety awareness through regular safety training sessions and communication.

  • Operator Qualification Master Certification preferred.

  • Oil and gas construction or energy services industry experience preferred.
