The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for the leadership & technical support of matters pertaining to facility safety and employee health. The successful candidate will be a key leader at the location, helping to create a culture of safety excellence by working with team members to design, modify, recommend, and implement safety and health programs to assure a safe work environment. The successful candidate will provide direct safety support to the Plantu2019s Chemical Recovery and Power Boiler areas. Responsible that all employees understand and utilize all safety requirements of job functions; in addition to use all required PPE during job tasks. Position requires full knowledge of safety requirements and ensure compliance and accountability. Working knowledge all safety procedures (including LOTO, fall protection, confined space entry, hot work and JHA for each position, proper guarding, seat belts, dock locks, etc.). We are seeking a Safety Coordinator to provide field safety presence, support Terra-Gen Operation site teams and execute health and safety policies and procedures. This position plays a key role in developing, maintaining, implementing, executing, and improving construction safety programs and works closely with Terra-Gen’s Operations and EHS teams to help ensure the safety of employees, contractors, and visitors on operations sites.
This individual must be comfortable and enjoy the outdoors to fulfil the duties of regular internal facility inspections and supporting the Operations teams, while ensuring duties back in the office are completed on time and documented.
The ideal candidate has prior experience in a health and safety function, is dependable, organized, self-motivated, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will have great field presence. This role requires a balance of outdoor field work in varying weather conditions and administrative responsibilities (for example, inspection close-outs, preparing thorough training documentation, and Emergency Action Plan reviews and updates). The candidate must be capable of building strong, reliable relationships with operations and familiar with incident reporting and able to perform injury investigations (TapRooT).
This individual will provide ongoing input and support for company-wide Health and Safety programs. They understand federal, state OHSA regulations and able to provide straightforward, easy-to-understand guidance as it applies to the safety practices at the assigned sites.
This role is a full-time hybrid position supporting the company’s PV/BESS and wind operations. The role combines remote work (from home) with weekly on-site presence at the field office in Palm Springs and requires routine travel to the facilities in San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. This role also requires out-of-state travel to support facility and/or office operations in other states, such as Texas, and, in the future, New York.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed)
- Develop safety practices and operational safety procedures to align with Terra-Gen’s safety management system and applicable regulations.
- Independently assess safety compliance and recommend corrective actions or policy changes as needed.
- Respond to incidents and classify injuries based on a working knowledge of OSHA definitions. Execute post-accident drug testing when required. Review incident reports and conduct root cause investigations for high-risk incidents and all recordables.
- Serve as a subject matter expert advising operations management on best practices and interpretation.
- Implement and execute safety programs including evaluations and inspections.
- Maintain a working knowledge of federal and state EHS regulations with expertise in renewable (Wind, BESS) safety, including electrical safety, LOTO and fall protection
- Maintain the H&S site inspection calendar and conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments analyzing safety conditions, generate detailed written reports, present and review inspection reports to Terra-Gen site management teams, recommend corrective actions and ensure documented close-out of corrective actions.
- Collaborative with Contractor Safety Specialist to implement Contractor EHS program requirements.
- Collaborate with site management to identify and mitigate potential safety risks.
- Investigates incidents to determine root cause and identify corrective actions to prevent recurrence in a timely manner. Conduct thorough interviews with affected employees, supervisors, witnesses and SME’s and document the interviews. Present investigation reports to Safety Committees and Management Safety Committee.
- Write high-quality EHS Alerts and distribute management for review and sign-off.
- Complete administrative tasks and manage compliance documentation, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy, and in a timely manner.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and improve safety orientations and training programs; coordinate training delivery and participation, evaluate effectiveness, and monitor assign sites training compliance, and address deficiencies, as appropriate.
- Facilitates and/or serves as an active participant within Safety Committees meetings (PV BESS and Wind) to continually promote and strengthen the safety culture.
- Support Operations with the administration of qualification programs.
- Ensure operational health and safety readiness of construction projects approaching completion, preparing them for seamless transition to Operations.
- Maintain EAPs and communicate and train staff for assigned locations.
- Periodic interaction with local emergency response groups and regulatory agencies
- Maintains incident documents in SharePoint and review hazard recognition reports, analyze trends, propose and recommend remedial action.
- Facilitate all incidents, hazard recognition and near-misses reporting including training employees on how to prepare reports, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and working with Supervisors to implement approved course of action.

**About the Position:**
The Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator (with support from the Sitel Leadership Team/Environmental, Health and Safety Manager) is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and monitoring of processes to maintain environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance and to continuously reduce EHS risk. This position will provide EHS expertise relating to applicable regulations, controls and state-of-the art methods of EHS management.
The incumbent will manage relevant data to ensure all required reporting and communication to regulators is complete and accurate. He/She will maintain ISO 14001 certification by implementing improvements in facility management systems, internal environmental audits, corrective action plans and continuous improvement activities. This associate will track, trend and report on EHS-related key performance indicators (KPIs).
This role will build EHS capability within the site, to include EHS management system element owners/members of EHS element teams/subcommittees. Build and leverage relationships with formal/informal leaders to drive EHS down, up and across the organization.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Maintain a deep-level understanding of existing environmental permit requirements. Ensure required activities are performed and data is accurate/organized/maintained/reported (as required).
+ Provide guidance in the areas of isolation/control of hazardous energy (i.e, lockout/tagout), electrical safety, machine guarding, ergonomics, industrial hygiene and hazard communication/chemical management (in addition to other safety media).
+ Identify opportunities to enhance EHS compliance and reduce risk. Develop, implement and monitor action plans
+ Track, trend and report identified KPIs to site/corporate leadership.
+ Inspect and audit EHS-related processes/equipment - Track, trend and report results
**Education:**
Bachelors degree in Environmental and/or Health and Safety or in lieu of a degree 5 more years of experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety field
**Experience:**
+ 3 or more years of experience in Environmenal and/or Health and Safety - Desired
+ Education or experience in Environmental Management
+ Experience implementing safety processes and programs
+ Experience tracking, trending and reporting environmental, health and safety related data
+ Experience influencing and selling ideas
**Skills and Abilities:**
+ Strong knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health and safety regulations
+ Excellent communication skills (verbal/written)
+ Ability to effectively communicate at various levels of the organization
+ Excellent organization skills
+ Proficient in Excel

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
Support and challenge the management line and all employees of the assigned area in reducing their risk exposure and defining the actions to mitigate risk and achieve zero accidents and occupational illnesses throughout the organization. Provide the guidance and support to implement the Amrize Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) and strengthen the H&S competencies across the organization, The incumbent must provide day to day guidance to management, staff, and supervisors in the continued building of a strong H&S culture.
**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
+ In line with the Amrize Health & Safety (H&S) Strategy and taking into account Amrize Cement priorities. Provide H&S guidance and support to site management and supervisors for the management of H&S
+ Support and challenge the line in defining and prioritizing the actions to implement long-term country and site H&S strategy. Use and provide specialized H&S knowledge to help site leadership drive behavioral changes in the business to reduce incidents and become an industry world reference in H&S. Work to grow specialized safety knowledge into an expertise by researching standards, attending coursework as available, and working closely with H&S experts. Focus on specific H&S initiatives based on the assigned region's needs for safety improvement.
+ Actively work with the rest of the H&S team in proposing, communicating, and implementing the H&S strategy. Play a support role in the US H&S group to provide counsel on two or three critical H&S topics, growing knowledge in subject matter expertise for the US organization.
+ Define the relevant dashboard to track the safety momentum and performance of the sites he has been assigned. Support the collection, analysis, and distribution of relevant KPI.
+ Assists supervisors and managers on incident investigations. Works with HR and site management to provide support on the best working conditions and a safe working environment
+ Participate in safety audits on sites/entities as per the group's yearly schedule.
+ Works with the Hygienist Specialist and site leadership teams to ensure regulatory and group compliance regarding exposure and monitoring of vibrations, noise, dust and other chemical agents.
+ Assist site leadership in their communications with MSHA and OHSA. Advise, assist and support local operations regarding compliance with federal, state and local regulatory compliance. Assists the sites during MSHA inspections and investigations, providing local management with the expertise to interpret regulatory compliance issues and the capacity to challenge inspectors' findings. Ensure regular benchmarking implementation of good practices from other sites or companies.
+ Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors

**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
**Education:** Associate's degree or 3 years of equivalent experience.
**Field of Study Preferred:** Engineering, Chemistry, Occupational H&S, HSE
**Required Work Experience:** 3 years of relatable work experience. MSHA and OSHA experience (preferred). DOT experience (preferred). Experience in Management Systems and Continuous Improvement cycle: ISO - 9000, or ISO 14.000, or OHSAS 18.000 (preferred). Experience in configuring, defining and implementing SOP'S
**Required:** Valid driver's license
**Required Training/Certifications:** Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
**Required Computer and Software Skills:** Proficient in MS Office and Google software programs: Excel, PPT, Word, G-Drive Knowledge of document management software (preferred)
**Travel Requirements:** 30%
**Additional Requirements:**
+ Sound knowledge of H&S principles, policies, procedures, and regulations.
+ Sound working knowledge of federal/state legislation per MSHA/WSIA/OHSA. Must provide honest, objective feedback to management.
+ Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

We are currently seeking a professional to fill the role of Health & Safety Coordinator at its mining operation. Located within 2-hour drive of The Thousand Islands, Lake Ontario shoreline, the Adirondack Mountains and world class skiing at Lake Placid. Explore Canada with Montreal and Ottawa only 2-3 hours away.
Responsibilities:
- Focus on workplace safety and compliance of procedures and MSHA regulations
- Develop, implement, and improve safety policies, procedures, and programs as needed
- Provide safety training & education
- Conduct risk assessments
- Inspect work environments underground and on the surface
- Investigate accidents
- Accompany MSHA on quarterly inspections or other site visits
- Evaluate and recommend control measures to minimize risk
- Stay informed of MSHA regulations along with other federal, state, and local H&S regulations
- Schedule annual required physicals and hearing tests
- Assist with weekly and monthly H&S reporting
- Maintain accurate and organized records of training, inspections, investigations, and other required records
- Work with all departments of the business to promote a positive safety culture
