**Essential Job Summary:**
The Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that on-site facility and route activities are compliant with safety, transportation and environmental policies and regulations. Safety Supervisors will report to the Market Area Safety Manager/Director.
**Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.**
+ Promote and follow safety policies; lead by example to support a strong safety culture
+ Perform safety observations and assessments to ensure all safety practices, programs, record keeping, and other related activities are followed and performed to company, customer and regulatory standards; correct unsafe practices before work continues
+ Conduct site audits to ensure safe, compliant operations; follow up on corrective actions
+ Lead or participate in safety stand-downs and meetings as needed
+ Ensure workers have access and are using proper PPE; carry extra supplies for field needs
+ Investigate incidents and prepare written reports
+ Assist with injury care and management
+ Participate or lead Incident Review Team meetings; identify root causes and make recommendations for corrective actions
+ Provide safety, transportation, and SOP training as needed
+ Monitor and manage training records with corporate support; ensure employee compliance
+ Ensure safety signage and warnings are clear, legible, and properly posted.
**Requirements and Qualifications:**
+ Train CDL drivers in a classroom setting
+ Ensure DOT compliance knowledge
+ Instruct employees on safe and efficient job performance
+ Communicate with operations to report safety trends and recommend corrective actions
+ Valid driver's license required (CDL required)
+ Strong commitment to safety
+ Satisfactory attendance and performance
+ Basic computer skills required
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
+ 3+ years' experience in job duties
+ Extensive knowledge of OSHA and DOT safety requirements
+ Excellent communication skills, Spanish bilingual required
+ Experience in transportation, sanitation/solid waste industry strongly preferred
+ 1-2 years of Health & Safety/Transportation Compliance experience
+ knowledge of federal, state, and local government Health & Safety/ Transportation regulations (including but not limited to: DOT, OSHA, NYC BIC, DSNY, NYDEC/ NJDEP, etc.)
+ Strong analytical and organizational abilities, coupled with the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
+ Lead or participate in special projects assigned
**Schedule:** Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM
**Evening Availability:** Occasional night shifts required

The Vehicle Safety Reporting Lead will lead and manage all activities regarding safety reporting to NHTSA as regulated by the Code of Federal Regulations Part 579. Management of these activities consists of compiling reports for submission, conducting data trend analysis, reviewing data for internal sign-off, managing day to day tasks and priorities for a team, owning and updating process documents, troubleshooting system issues with IT, responding to NHTSA inquiries and interfacing with industry organizations on safety reporting topics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a Business, Mathematics, Engineering, or technically related field
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in the automotive field, with a minimum of 5 years in a Safety related field
  • Proven leadership and project management skills
  • Ability to breakdown complex problems into discrete plans that can be executed by the Early Warning and support team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or advanced engineering degree
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizes risk, and allocates appropriate resources accordingly
  • Comfortable communicating regularly with senior level management

**Summary**

+ Train drivers on how to operate a tractor and trailer in a safe manner consistent with all Federal, State and Local laws, regulations, and Company policies
+ Teach drivers on how to conduct pre and post vehicle inspections and complete reports as required by Company policies.
+ Train drivers on how to complete all Company paperwork to include but not limited to pay envelopes, overage, shortage, damaged claims, and trip reports
+ Teach drivers to how to understand and use the telephone, voice response, and satellite system in order to communicate with customers, dispatchers, and supervisory personnel. Perform other task as assigned by supervisor.
+ Participate in continuous safety / leadership training provided by Perdue
+ Brand Ambassador with monitoring drivers' pre-trip / post-trip inspections and supporting company guidelines with enforcing PPE / Dress Code Requirements
