The advanced level class works under direction and requires thorough knowledge of building/construction practices and techniques; local and state codes, laws and regulations affecting building and construction activities; safety practices and procedures to perform a wide variety of inspections to ensure compliance with building and electrical codes. Normal Working Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:30am - 4:00pm with 30 minute lunch or 7:30am to 4:30pm with 60 minute lunch. Alternative working schedules may be offered. Posted until filled.
Performs electrical inspections of commercial, industrial, residential & agricultural buildings, towers, public street visual and traffic lights; verifies compliance with National Electric Code (NEC); provides quality customer service; complies with safety practices and all departmental, county, state federal policies/procedures/regulations and laws. (E.g. wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), use appropriate equipment to safely perform job duties, promptly report unsafe conditions). Provides expertise in answering questions from contractors, engineers, architects, building inspectors & property owners regarding electrical code, general electrical practices, regulations & specifications. Acts as liaison between contractors & property owners; resolves conflicts which may occur; answers questions regarding electrical codes, general electrical practices and/or regulations and specifications. Completes plans & pre-plan review of residential & commercial plans to check for permit & NEC Code compliance. Performs quality control inspections on electrical materials, cables, devices, panel boards & boxes; verifies compliance with specifications. Job Description
Responsibilities:
+ Firestop Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of firestops within the facility, including walls, joints, and penetrations.
+ certified in firestop: ICC, FTE, commercial building experience, STI or HILTI certifications
+ Compliance Verification: Ensure that all firestops meet the standards outlined in ASTM E2174 and E2393.
+ Code Compliance: Verify that firestops are in compliance with the 2012 International Building Code (IBC), especially for buildings exceeding 75 feet in height and category III and IV buildings (Chapter 17, section 1705.16 of the IBC).
+ Statewide Health Planning and Development: Verify compliance with Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) Policy Intent Notice (PIN) 67 for new regional requirements specific to California.
+ Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, and any corrective actions taken.
+ Reporting: Prepare and submit comprehensive inspection reports to management and relevant authorities as required.
+ Collaboration: Collaborate with construction teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to address any non-compliance issues and ensure timely rectification.
+ Training and Education: Stay updated on the latest developments in firestop technology, standards, and regulations through training and professional development.
Requirements:
+ Minimum of 2+ years of experience in firestopping inspections or related field, along with relevant certifications.
+ Knowledge of ASTM E2174 and E2393 standards.
+ Familiarity with the 2012 International Building Code (IBC).
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Certification or relevant training in firestop inspections is a plus.
