Position Specific Accountabilities:
- Develop, implement and manage a training and competence regime for Engineering track workers
- Oversee and perform the instructional training of track inspectors in the classroom and in the field to enhance and develop skills and knowledge

Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage product supplier and processor/manufacturer compliance in accordance with applicable regulations as well as AFCFCs standards.
- Manage vendor documents encompassing but not limited to: vendor questionnaires, third party audits, HACCP Plans, Environmental Monitoring Programs, regulatory assessments, challenge studies, action plans, laboratory analysis, MPs, etc.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Research & Development, Procurement Teams and suppliers to meet time-sensitive expansion programs and align vendor performance with company and client standards.
- Stay current with applicable regulations, science, industry developments and company standards.
- Spearhead improvement opportunities in the capacity of ingredients approvals, process flow, visibility, supplier performance and retention.
- Assess suppliers, and respective products, with a strong emphasis on food safety and quality improvement opportunities. Where applicable, evaluate suppliers Corrective Action Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
- Prioritize and implement a high volume of documentation with an emphasis on organization and detail.
- Partner with Distribution, Procurement, Research and Development Departments as necessary to coordinate in-house and external analysis of goods.
- Manage Global Seafood Sustainability Initiative documents in accordance with AFCFC and client standards.
- Oversee labeling compliance respective to retail food goods sold within US and Canada.
- Generate and provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual performance and completion reports.
- Lead, coordinate and participate in supplier visits and audits, as needed.
- Manage ingredient studies, where applicable, associated but not limited to shelf-life, challenge studies, microbial/chemical verifications, etc.
- Manage import alerts, regulatory-induced ingredient detentions, recalls, and recall information against applicable ingredients and processors.
- Build and manage support team/subordinate.
- Collaborate with internal teams on refining retail label reviews and taking lead on retail label approvals.
- Develop and manage KPIs specific to supplier approvals, retail label approvals, ingredients certified against a GSSI scheme, and other programs as assigned.
- Participate in industry and regulatory supplier-themed functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in related science/discipline (Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Public Health, Environmental Health, etc.).
- MS in Food Safety, Food Science or related field is preferred.
- Seafood HACCP knowledge and certification.
- 5+ years experience in supplier management, manufacturing, or related leadership capacity.
- Expert level comprehension of 21CFR Chapter 1, Subchapter B.
- Working knowledge of CFIA.
- Experience leveraging technology to drive efficiencies.
- High level of organizational.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Highly resourceful.
- Ability to travel up to 30% (both domestic and international).
- Proficient with MS Office applications.

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Health, or related field (Master’s preferred)
7+ years of progressive safety experience with at least 4 years in a plant leadership role

Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety auditing , and risk mitigation strategies
A collaborative spirit, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence across functions
Experience with workers’ compensation, regulatory interaction, and return-to-work programs

Our Company is seeking a Safety Manager that will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe work environment. This role requires collaboration with various departments & sites to promote compliance with regulatory standards, reduce workplace hazards, and drive a culture of safety across the organization.
Safety Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Safety Programs:
- Design and enforce safety protocols and procedures in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory agencies.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Lead a cross functional safety committee to regularly identify and solve potential safety issues.
- Training and Education:
- Develops and manages the formal safety training for all employees.
- Lead safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and new hires on topics such as equipment usage, hazard identification, and emergency response.
- Manage Forklift training and certification program.
- Maintain training records and ensure all employees are up to date with required safety certifications.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Prepare and submit detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and update the organization on any changes.
- Manage OSHA compliance and documentation.
- Maintain all required safety documentation, permits, and licenses.
- Promote a Safety Culture:
- Develop campaigns and initiatives to encourage a proactive safety culture within the company.
- Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety committees to foster employee engagement.
- Monitor Workplace Conditions:
- Regularly inspect facilities, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provide and manage PPE (boots, gloves, vests).
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and response drills.
- Optimize ergonomics of loading, unloading, staging, and wrapping product.
- Develop safety audit plan.
- Emergency preparedness plan.
- Collaborate with Leadership:
- Work closely with management to establish safety goals, KPIs, and performance metrics.
- Provide advice and recommendations on safety improvements and best practices.
Safety Manager Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, Safety Management, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in warehousing & distribution.
- Experience with safety compliance and regulatory standards (OSHA, NFPA, etc.).
- Certifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA certification, or similar safety qualifications preferred.

Preview projects and project sites before work begins to determine safety and environmental related risks. Develops project site specific safety plan, EAP (Emergency Action Plan) and training for project sites. Visits active project sites to assess ongoing work conditions to ensure compliance with project site specific safety plans, and local, state and federal regulations. Documents unsafe work conditions, safety hazards and health hazards. Works with project management, site supervision and craft workers to develop and implement solutions to safety related findings on project sites. Determines corrective or preventative measures where necessary and follows up to ensure corrective and preventive measures are implemented. Manages contractors' safety programs and training; recommends changes as necessary for compliance. Audits orientation and annual safety training records for compliance. Recommends appropriate disciplinary action when safe work practices and policies are violated by employees and subcontractors.
