Position Summary
The Safety & Compliance Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the organization adheres to regulatory, safety, and operational standards. This individual will manage administrative duties related to compliance, schedule and oversee inspections, develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), coordinate safety committees, and work proactively to ensure the safety and security of the organization's facilities.
Primary Responsibilities
Building Safety
- Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
- Coordinate and oversee the maintenance and inspection of safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, alarms, and emergency exits).
- Lead efforts to implement and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation drills and incident reporting procedures.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Draft, update, and distribute SOPs to ensure consistency in operational practices across departments.
- Collaborate with department leads to ensure SOPs are practical, clear, and align with regulatory requirements.
- Train staff on new or revised SOPs.
Inspections and Audits
- Schedule, coordinate, and oversee routine and non-routine inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with third-party inspectors and internal teams to address and resolve inspection findings.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, ADA, and fire safety codes.
Safety Committee Coordination
- Serve as the primary coordinator for the organization's health & safety committees, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting meeting minutes.
- Monitor and track safety committee action items and ensure timely resolution.
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance-related activities, inspections, certifications, and training documentation.
- Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Assist with the creation and distribution of compliance-related communication and training materials.

Minimum Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Occupational Safety, Compliance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 2+ years of experience in a compliance, safety, or administrative role, preferably in a facility management or operational setting.
- Must be available to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Must pass pre-employment screens
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in a related field (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Compliance Manager Certification).
- Experience in coordinating safety committees or similar groups.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise documents such as SOPs and reports.

+ Verify driver speed alerts, send them to managers as needed, and create reports on responses
+ Review and process rental car damage claims with the insurance company and the field; review and forward auto claim information to the insurance carrier, and ensure the field reports all incidents promptly
+ Perform the monthly financial claim allocation report to various business units
+ Review and process all departmental insurance, vendor, and environmental billing
+ Administer environmental permits for towers and rooftop sites; involving entering and processing new permits, tracking expiration dates, and ensuring timely payments
+ Assist in the annual insurance renewal process by gathering necessary information, coordinating responses, and sending out relevant notifications

Our Safety Compliance Specialist will be responsible for fostering an environment that emphasizes a strong safety culture in our Material Recovery Division. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Monitoring and enforcing PPE requirements that are required within the specific facility (steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, eye protection, Hi-Viz clothing, and proper cut resistant gloves).
• Building and maintaining a positive and consistent Safety Culture specifically on the processing floor at each depot location.

• Observe daily operations, report unsafe conditions/ acts and ensure steps are taken to correct.
• Partner with EHS, P&O, and operational leadership to develop safety policies and programs.
• With the assistance of the P&O team, issue progressive discipline to correct safety issues/concerns.
• Own TOMRA’s safety committee program, developing and coaching a safety committee at each location.

Key Responsibilities
Field Audits & Inspections
- Perform regular, surprise site visits to audit traffic-control layouts, flagging practices, and pavement-marking quality
- Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections on CDL-required vehicles under 49 CFR Part 396
- Identify safety or compliance gaps and work with site supervisors to implement corrective actions immediately
Training & Coaching
- Develop and lead on-site and classroom safety training modules (e.g., hours-of-service rules, load securement, flagger best practices)
- Mentor drivers and laborers in recognizing hazards and maintaining safe, compliant work zones
- Maintain detailed training records and schedule annual refresher courses
Program Development & Reporting
- Update and refine safety manuals, inspection checklists, and Standard Operating Procedures
- Track compliance metrics, audit results, and incident data; prepare monthly safety reports for leadership
- Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and recommend prevention measures
Regulatory Liaison
- Serve as the primary point of contact during DOT/ODOT inspections
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely policy updates and communications to field teams
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations and HR to integrate safety requirements into hiring, onboarding, and performance management
- Support the DOT drug & alcohol testing program, ensuring timely collection, documentation, and follow-up
Qualifications
- 3+ years of field-based safety or compliance experience in MOT, pavement marking, or heavy-equipment operations
- CDL
- ATSSA Traffic Control Technician Certification
- ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor Certification Preferred
- Certified Traffic Control Design Specialist highly preferred
- In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations (49 CFR Parts 382 & 396) and CDL vehicle inspection requirements
- Working knowledge of MUTCD handbook
- Proven ability to conduct and document detailed site audits and vehicle inspections
- Strong training, coaching, and interpersonal skills

The Role:
Hardware safety compliance engineers are responsible for ensuring the company's products meet all relevant safety standards and regulations. They serve as the primary gatekeeper for product safety, conducting thorough reviews to identify and mitigate potential risks. This role is integrated into the product development lifecycle, with the engineers collaborating cross-functionally and utilizing their expertise in safety standards. You will be part of the Hardware Compliance Engineering team responsible to enable compliance, safety and international approval of Lab126, Ring and other devices. We do this by leveraging our global diverse foundation of subject matter expert, experienced global market access program managers, robust processes and mechanisms. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or similar technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience in hardware development or compliance

- Experience with the application of U.S. and international product safety standards (e.g. UL, IEC, EN, ANSI, CSA, ISO)
- Knowledge of electronics and mechanical design and safety
