Under general supervision, the EH&S Specialist performs technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with EH&S standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.

Assists in the development and implementation of Job Hazard Analysis, Safety Procedures, Critical Risk evaluations, and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures. Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area. Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace. Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazard. Conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs. Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice. May provide guidance for a team of EH&S specialists and/or support personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluates, plans and administers training programs, as well as other employee safety procedures, and Job Hazard Analysis.
- Conducts comprehensive safety audits and inspections and recommends actions for the correction of hazardous situations for compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Investigates injuries, conditions and incidents that do, or could, involve actual or potential liability. Such findings and conclusions to be documented and logged for trend awareness and accountability.
- Maintains adequate records of pertinent data and compiles or initiates the compilation of the required reports on individual job occupational injury and illness experience.
- Plans and coordinates safety and health classes for technical and supervisory employees.
- Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace. Provide tools and competent recommendations to immediately address findings.
- Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazard.
- Conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs.
- Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
- Ability to collaborate with client/site EHS personnel to address potential hazards or unsafe conditions found.

Minimum Requirements
+ **Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or a related role, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience in a safety professional role.**
+ **In addition to education requirements, 5 years of experience in an occupational safety role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.**
+ **Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.**
+ **Experience using software to enter and interpret safety-related data.**

Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision, the Industrial Safety and Hygiene (IS&H) Specialist I is responsible for implementing and administering project industrial safety and hygiene programs affecting employee, public safety and occupational health. Serves as a resource for line management to administer a proactive prevention program for occupational accidents and illnesses; under general supervision performs basic and routine work in a wide range of IS&H disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements; exhibits knowledge and applies fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of IS&H; assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of IS&H programs, systems and procedures; monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area; investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace; recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards; conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs; provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice; may provide guidance for a team of IS&H specialists and/or support personnel. **This position will require shift work (rotating 4 x 12 schedule) rotating days. 4 days on 4 days off**

Oversights and mentors Line Management and workers on the implementation of industrial safety/hygiene hazard controls. Responds to events providing injury/illness response, monitoring of conditions, etc. Hazard analysis and control determinations in support of project work activities. And conducts oversight and monitoring during work task performance to verify that exposure control mechanisms are sufficient to protect workers.
