Join DiVal Safety Equipment at our Buffalo, New York headquarters as a member of our dynamic and fast-paced Training Division . The focus of this position is to provide training to our internal and external clients in an effort to reduce injuries caused by chemicals, physical or biological substances and/or ergonomics in the workplace.
The main responsibility of this position is to provide training to internal teammates and external clients and audit the workplace for hazards, develop solutions to eliminate those hazards, and communicate solution(s) to other employees and management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform training, both onsite and offsite.
- Perform Respiratory Fit Testing.
- Industrial Hygiene – Technician level work (Sampling, Field Observations).
- Survey of work environments and job tasks as it pertains to safety.
- Participate in trade shows representing the Training Department. May include educational presentations at Trade or Industry shows.
- Perform onsite safety oversight.
- Perform additional duties that may arise and assigned by management.
Skills and Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal a MUST.
- Excellent communication skills, representing DiVal Safety in a professional and positive manner at all times.
- Conduct / Teach classes, ability to speak in front of groups and public speaking.

Job Summary
The Safety Training Specialist is tasked with creating a comprehensive safety training program. This role will develop and provide job-specific safety training, primarily focused on front line positions. They will identify and deliver training based on organizational and industry trends, front line feedback, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Technical Trainer to develop and deliver the safety-related components of the Field Operations Department technical training, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards, CORE’s safety manual, operational needs, and CORE’s strategic safety goals.
- Creates an annual safety training plan that includes job specific training, ensures regulatory compliance, and safety procedure review.
- Coordinate training utilizing both internal and external resources.
- Develops an annual safety training budget.
- Creates training materials, lesson plans, handouts, and slide presentations as needed.
- The Safety Training Specialist assists the Safety and Health Department with ensuring that the company meets the current compliance requirements on all federal, state, and local levels, including, but not limited to, the following areas:
- OSHA Regulations
- Utility Regulations
- DOT Regulations
- CORE Safety Manual
- Environmental Regulations
- Provides safety onboarding for new hires and contractors.
- Utilize observations of work practices, front line feedback, audit and inspection trends, and incident trends to identify training needs.
- Conduct inspections of vehicles, equipment and office workspaces.
- Reviews the Safety Manual to ensure compliance and relevance.
- Analyzes incidents and accidents, prepares incident reports, conducts root cause analyses, and recommends solutions. Develops and provides training or presentations associated with incidents and accidents.
- Coordinates hot stick, dielectric, and ground testing programs for all districts. Conducts periodic inspections and testing of tools and personal protective equipment.
- Reviews work practices and safety procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Identifies areas of improvement, culture development, and training opportunities for office staff.
- The Safety Training Specialist will work with the Technical Trainer to conduct a technology impact review process to address changes to job tasks that arise from new technologies in the electric utility industry.
- Facilitates safety demonstrations to the members of the Cooperative.
- Develop and implement special projects assigned by the Health and Safety Director.
- Monitors the effectiveness of existing practices, compliance programs, and training to continuously improve.
- Stop work when necessary to prevent an injury or accident.
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications of Position
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum of five years' related experience in the electric utility industry with a fundamental understanding of safety procedures, systems, operations, and maintenance.
- Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT), Train the Trainer Certification, other safety specific certifications, and/or informal safety experience within field and operational roles (e.g. mentoring apprentice linemen or assisting in training for other linemen).
- Requires the ability to work with confidential written and oral communication; excellent organizing and planning skills to meet frequent deadlines; excellent decision-making skills commensurate with responsibilities.
- Specialized education and training may be considered in lieu of or as equivalent to a portion of the experience requirements.
- Proven experience working collaboratively across departments.
- Facilitation, training, and presentation experience.
- Willingness to travel throughout the CORE service territory.
- Possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License.

**Responsibilities:**
+ Lead, design, develop and implement initial and recurrent training programs for transportation personnel.
+ Supervise driver trainers, by establishing objectives, standards, work schedules and accountability for job performance.
+ Proactively recruit individuals to apply and train them to become School Bus Drivers
+ Provide classroom instruction and behind the wheel training of applicants and bus drivers to ensure successful completion of training and testing; recommend upgrades as necessary
+ Provide on-going training and performance evaluations for all Driver employees
+ Administer and maintain Company random drug/alcohol testing and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing program in conjunction with corporate office.
+ Develop and conduct regularly scheduled Driver Safety Meetings.
+ Assume primary responsibility in responding to personal injury and vehicle accidents by on-scene investigation and preparing and submitting reports to the corporate office in accordance with Company policy.
+ Investigate customer service complaints relative to safety issues and take appropriate corrective action.
+ Administer and maintain Company Safe Driver Award Program.
+ Exhibits the highest ethical best practices and personal integrity; Shares concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behavior with their supervisor or manager.

**Qualifications**
+ High School diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
+ 3 years as a Trainer in school bus transportation industry desired

+ Must complete state certification program or Durham's Training Academy for school bus driver instructor. Equivalent work experience as a Trainer can be substituted as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:
* Organize and coordinate and furnish training programs. Involves: Develop and present training and instructional programs and materials.
