What your day will look like:

  • Support and implement the mission, policies, and confidentiality standards of Turning Point and Second Hand Rose.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and donor relations; greet guests, resolve issues, and create a welcoming environment.
  • Drive merchandise sales and ensure accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
  • Supervise and coach volunteers to ensure quality support and task completion.

  • Maintain donor station supplies and accurate logs for furniture and estate pickups.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Summary:

The Salesclerk position involves assisting customers, stocking shelves, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. The ideal candidate has great customer service skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.



The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a 'Service Delivery Area' comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services.



Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Handle cash, credit or check transactions with customers
  • Scan goods and collect payments
  • Ensure pricing is correct
  • Issue change, receipts, refunds, or tickets
  • Redeem coupons and save them
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change. Do paperwork.
  • Make sales referrals, cross-sell products and introduce new ones
  • Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information
  • Bag items carefully
  • Greet customers when entering or leaving the establishment
  • Offer to carry out items
  • Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
  • Sweep and mop the floor at night
  • Clean cooler doors and any spills
  • Wipe off carts
  • Take out trash
  • Clean bathrooms
  • Mark down any products tossed due to spoilage
  • Remove old sales tags put up new ones
  • Make sure current ads are out and being distributed
  • Help with truck
  • Break down boxes and take out to garbage
  • Stock shelves (rotate it)
  • Face the product (pull it forward)
  • Keep reports on transactions
  • Process returns and check to see if items are damaged
  • Answer customers' questions and get a manager if the answer does not solve the issue
  • Bag, box or wrap packages
  • Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction

Relationships and Authority:

This position has no supervisory authority.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  1. Previous retail or grocery experience is a plus but not required
  2. Strong customer service and communication skills
  3. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  4. Comfortable standing for long periods and working on your feet
  5. Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  6. Basic math skills for handling cash and transactions

Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.

Schedule: We are currently seeking part-time availability to include both weekdays and weekends.

Pay: $15.50 - $16.50/hour.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide high-quality customer service in accordance with company customer service standards and policies & procedures.
  • Observes customers, checks identification for proof-of-age and denies service to underage or intoxicated customers.
  • Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
  • Responsible for ringing up all merchandise. Receives payment for customer purchases. Properly maintains cash drawer, is accountable for all cash, coupons, checks, and receipts in the drawer.
  • Receives and checks in delivered merchandise and places in appropriate storage area.
  • Fills displays and stocks shelves as needed.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors with cleaning agents.
  • Gather and empty trash; clean & scrub trash cans and replace with liners.
  • May clean building floor by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming around equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • 1 year of related retail / cashier experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to read & write English.
  • High school education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with retail point of sale (POS) and inventory systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including building internal and external relationships and conflict resolution skills
  • Must have flexible schedule, and able to work weekends and holidays when necessary.
