**What will you need**
You'll need a clean driving record and meet the Driver Qualifications listed below.
You need to be able to work in all kinds of weather conditions while working out on your own with limited supervision.
Servicing our customers is hard work, and you will need to be able to climb in and out of the truck 120 times a day and carry product that can weigh up to 45 pounds.
You will get way more than your recommended 10,000 steps in a day, with plenty of water to keep you hydrated during the day.

  • Partner with customers to achieve retail sales goals and execute sales.
  • Identify opportunities to provide consultative services for businesses and customers.
  • Utilize fundamental sales principles and practices, as well as acquiring product, customer, industry, and company infrastructure knowledge applicable to improving sales, marketing and consulting skills.
  • Act on opportunities or pass them on to more experienced staff members and shadow the process.
  • Develop customer lists to include current and prospective customers.
  • Call on current and prospective customers, focusing on representing the assigned co-op, building relationships and promoting CHS products.
  • Prepare basic and assist with moderate to complex, bids and proposals.
  • Develop or participate in the development of straightforward customer presentations.
  • Obtain information on market and industry trends, competitors and sales programs.
  • Build customer relationships by providing proactive service through identifying customer needs and responding promptly.
  • Build working knowledge of various products.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Training will be provided for this position to include: product training, computer training on CRM Software, and CHS Sales Training National Sales Certification available.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of Sales, Business Development, and/or Sales Business Operations

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite: Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record

Position Summary

As an Outside Sales Representative, you will drive sales growth by building and maintaining strong customer relationships, promoting our products and services, and identifying new opportunities within your assigned territory. This role requires a motivated self-starter with a passion for foodservice, a knack for communication, and a talent for closing sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, contact, and develop relationships with prospective and existing customers.
  • Promote and sell a full line of company products and services.
  • Travel throughout your assigned territory to conduct in-person customer visits.
  • Provide pricing, product updates, and marketing materials to customers.
  • Track and report on customer interactions, sales activity, and account status weekly.
  • Maintain organized files for all accounts in your territory to support forecasting.
  • Gather and report on competitor activity and industry trends.
  • Ensure all sales materials and product displays reflect company brand and image.
  • Assist with other duties as needed.

What You Bring to the Table

Required:

  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on the road.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred:

  • Prior sales experience in foodservice distribution (paper, dry, refrigerated, and frozen foods).
