JOB SUMMARYThe Patient Care Technician (PCT) will provide support to the ASC staff to ensure patient safety and high-quality care is provided at all times. Duties will include assisting pre and post op nursing teams in basic patient care and in prepping the facility to ensure safe and clean at all times. The EmPATH unit is a behavioral health unit designed to treat patients who have traditionally been cared for in the emergency department (ED). This unit, opening in 2026, will accept patients from both the adult and children's hospital. Candidates hired into our EmPATH positions will begin their employment in Fall 2025 and Winter 2026.

Job Summary: The Manager-Patient Care EmPATH works collaboratively with the Director to provide administrative, human resource and financial management for designated area(s) of responsibility. Functions in a Magnet Recognized tertiary academic medical center with level one trauma designation. Directs day-to-day operations based on the needs of the patient population served, established professional practice model (Duffy Quality-Caring Model), applicable regulatory standards and requirements, and approved clinical practice standards, policies and procedures. Ensures quantity and quality of staff as applicable to department hours of operation. Exhibits mission-focused thinking and participates in the nursing strategic planning process and aligns service goals and objectives with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Ensures areas of responsibility comply with requirements of planning, regulatory, inspecting agencies, and hospital/department policies. Mentors and coaches charge nurses and staff in transforming culture, processes and clinical practice that meets the demands of cutting-edge health care delivery and nursing excellence. Supports and inspires professional governance groups to attain required nursing excellence standards to maintain Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, or, Associate's Degree in Nursing and a Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field and a Master's Degree in Nursing required. Minimum three years nursing experience required, which has provided opportunity to demonstrate leadership competencies in behavioral health nursing, emergency department, specialty field, or education.

Knowledge and Skills: Substantial knowledge of state and federal behavioral and mental health regulations and accreditation, finance, performance improvement, quality, patient safety, evidenced-based clinical practice standards, medical staff structure, legal aspects of care, and nursing scope of practice required.
