GENERAL DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS
Operations:
• Ensure a clean, sanitary workplace throughout multiple facilities.
• Waste management including organic, paper, and general waste.
• Coordinates the recycling and compost programs within Orwashers.
• Manages the City Harvest food bank program.
• Work with the contracted pest management company to ensure program is in compliance and will report any action items.
• Daily / Weekly Food Health & Safety checks as shown.
• Daily Fridge Temperatures monitored and recorded as per Health & Safety Manual.
• Log HACCP records, maintaining production records and traceability for all products produced.
• Update Daily / Weekly Cleaning Checklist and ensure this is being done.
• Coordinates with all warehouse & bakery managers and supervisor in food safety and compliance issues as it relates to sanitation.
• Coordinate activities with other departments to schedule sanitation tasks.
• Supervise, schedule, manage, and motivate a team to sanitation associates to ensure the team can meet the sanitation needs of the business.
• Teach and instruct team how sanitation tasks should be completed ensuring safety is always prioritized.

Essential Functions:
• Able to lift 50+ lbs.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English. Spanish a plus.
• Demonstrates positive leadership characteristics, which inspire team members to meet and exceed standards.
• Ability to utilize traditional software programs such as email, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and any additional systems as needed;
• Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system

Performs duties as a subjent matter expert on MFI sanitation programs related to: Cleaning the facility to a microbiological level Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) Environmental cleaning Operational sanitation Special event cleaning - i.e. construction, incident response Preoperational inspection programs Plant janitorial/housekeeping Work with chemical provider and plant leadership team to address any identified corrective actions. Provide feedback into the performance of Sanitation Supervisors. Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of cleaning chemistry (chemicals). Develop and verify SSOP's and work instructions. Assist with applying wet cleaning techniques following the 7 Steps of Wet Sanitation process. Knowledge of Clean in Place (CIP) and Clean Out of Place (COP) cleaning techniques. Assist in managing sanitation aspects of construction events. Partners with facility FSQ Managers to drive food safety and sanitation objectives. We’re now hiring a Sanitation Manager for Tuffy’s Pet Foods , to manage and oversee all sanitation needs at Tuffy’s. This position requires overarching responsibility for strategy, planning, staffing, execution and documentation of plantwide cleaning, housekeeping, sanitation and pest control. Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for leadership and accountability of imbedded Sanitation Team, as well as, 3rd party staffing partners, as necessary

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2 or 4 degree in Operations Mgmt, Biology, Food Science, Chemistry or related disciplines; OR equivalent field experience in food/pet food facility sanitation
  • 3-5 years experience leading people & teams in a human food/pet food production setting

Ensure the Sanitation Supervisors are adequately trained to fulfill their duties. Back-up to plant sanitation supervisors. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Degree or diploma in a field that ensures understanding of food science & food safety principles. Experience in Food Manufacturing (minimum of 5 years) - with an understanding of Industry standards and best practices Familiarity with Regulations governing Sanitation GMP's, food safety, and quality. Certification in HACCP & PCQI preferred. Familiar with Seven Steps of sanitation, HACCP principles and how they apply at the facility Enter Data into BEF documentation systems Able to effectively communicate data and information to stakeholders and deliver on-the job training to the team on all SSOPs. Must know how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and outlook for capturing data and communicating information. Must understand safe use and technical data sheets for all sanitation chemicals used. You will lead and manage a team of sanitation personnel, developing and implementing effective sanitation programs, training protocols, and quality control measures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial cleaning practices, food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP), and chemical safety. Your responsibilities will include managing the sanitation budget, ensuring proper inventory and usage of cleaning supplies and equipment, and conducting regular audits to verify compliance.   • Collaborate with QA, Production, and Maintenance departments to ensure integrated food safety systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sanitation management, preferably in the food manufacturing or processing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SQF, or other food safety systems.
  • Strong understanding of industrial cleaning chemicals, equipment, and best practices.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
