Your Role as a Sanitation Specialist:

  • Ensure a pristine work environment across offices, break rooms, distribution centers, and transportation areas.
  • Offices: vacuum/mop floors, empty trash cans, wipe surfaces, clean windows and walls, etc.
  • Restrooms: sanitize surfaces, empty trash, sweep/mop floors, replenish supplies, etc.

  • Distribution Center/Transportation: sweep/mop floors, empty trash, clean dock plates, and manage pallet storage.

  • Painting: maintain the aesthetics of the facility both inside and out.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

Your Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Ability to perform accurate visual inspections.
  • Capable of reading, writing, and understanding English sufficiently to fulfill job responsibilities and maintain workplace safety.

Position Summary

Required to assist in daily clean up and routine maintenance of equipment according to training. Cleaning logs must be completed for each operation and each piece of equipment. Plant must be kept in compliance with health department regulations, as well as applicable state and federal statutes AT ALL TIMES to avoid citations/penalties during routine unannounced inspections. These requirements are detailed in Standard Operating Procedures which form the basis of company provided training for this position.

  • Clean in production environments and labs where PPEs or other gowning and entrance/exit procedures must be followed.
  • Responsible for cleaning entryways, hallways, bathrooms, offices, and indoor/outdoor common areas.
  • Cleaning floors includes vacuuming, sweeping, moping, and using a floor scrubber.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms including urinals/toilets, countertops, walls, sinks, showers, and replenish restroom supplies.
  • Emptying and removing trash from garbage cans inside and outside and disposing as directed
  • Dust and clean windows, blinds, vents, furniture, and mirrors.
  • Barrel washing.
  • Assist in setting up furniture and equipment for special events as scheduled by the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Purpose Statement

The Sanitation Associate is responsible for controling all environmental and in-depth equipment cleaning to ensure the safety and quality of our food products.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

  • Disassembles and sets up all production equipment, cleans all equipment using COP and CIP systems, verifies the proper cleaning and set-up of all equipment, puts away production and sanitation materials, drives material handling equipment, monitors/tests chemical concentration of all CIP systems.

  • Operates Rich's SCADA system and completes appropriate paperwork.
  • Performs any other related miscellaneous duties assigned by Lead person.
  • Will be required to train in other areas of the plant as required by the Skillblock program, which may include: Valve and Pump PM program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must have the ability to train other Associates in Sanitation/Environmental operations
  • Must have the desire and ability to operate as a member of a Self-Directed work team
  • Must be proficient on Rich's SCADA system
  • Has an awareness of and the ability to follow Associate Safety guidelines
  • Has an awareness of and the ability to follow GMP and Food Safety guidelines
  • Understands proper machine operating and adjusting procedures
  • Must have the ability to work in and contribute to Production Improvement, Associate Involvement and Temporary Teams, as assigned

  • Monitor the inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure the proper completion of Master Sanitation Schedule tasks.
  • Understand and manage the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Ensure all cleaners are used according to manufacturers' instructions.
  • Dilute bulk cleaning chemicals as required, using materials provided by the chemical manufacturer.
  • Manage all line clean-ups and inspect line equipment.
  • Understand and execute changeovers, shutdowns, startups, periodicals, 100% organic, 100% wash, 100% Allergen, and kosher clean-ups.
  • Report any discrepancies to the supervisor or Plant Sanitation Manager, including issues related to HACCP Programs, Allergen Program, GMP Findings, Hold Procedures, and more.
Education/Experience/Skills/Qualifications:
  • Basic math and reasoning skills.
  • Flexible hours and availability for intercompany or weekend work as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing tasks as assigned by Department Supervisor which may include: d etailed cleaning of the facility , m aintain cleanliness of common areas including break room and bathrooms, p ost-op cleaning of facility, d etailed cleaning assignments as assigned, and a ny other duties as needed

  • Responsible for ensuring the sanitary specifications of the equipment and facility are obtained.

  • Must be able to understand the proper use of cleaning chemicals and cleaning procedures to work in an efficient yet effective manner.

  • Must be able to work as a team player with other employees in the Sanitation and Production departments.

  • Must use proper personal protective equipment.

  • Must be able to be flexible with varying job assignments and working conditions.

  • Responsible for following plant rules and working conditions as it pertains the GMP’s and clean equipment criteria.

Qualifications:

  • No prior experience or training required.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.

  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
