Responsibilities
Major Job Activities:
Provides support to USAFCENT for ground to ground, ground to air, and beyond line of sight communication requirements. Systems currently supported but not limited to include: Ground Entry Point (GEP) and Communication Kits (CK) (CKs includes Communication Flyaway Kits (CFK), Mini Flyaway Kits (MFK), Executive Communication Kit ECK and Air Defense Liaison Team (ADLT) kits. Tasks include:
+ Deploy, set up and troubleshoot CKs, GEP and other systems as required throughout the CENTCOM AOR. Travel as directed.
+ Maintain network and end user configuration management.
+ Maintain applicable USAFCENT A63 supported systems in accordance with (IAW) relevant DoD, USCENTCOM, USAF, and SPIN-C policies.
+ Support transmission mediums to include Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT), 4G, BGAN, and commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP).
+ Configure and load network configuration security appliances as required.
+ Renew cryptographic keying material as required.
+ Perform system operational testing and preventative maintenance IAW SPIN-C.
+ Perform system testing to remote sites as directed by USAFCENT A6 Support patching and software updates for network and end user devices.
+ Provide first-level troubleshooting of CK/GEP and other systems as required.
+ Provide second level 2 troubleshooting assistance (coordinate help-desk activities with applicable organizations for Network Operations and technical support).
+ Track operational status of systems and provide updates to AFCENT A6 as required.
+ Track and report system status as required.
+ Maintain AFCENT A6 system tracking tool(s).
+ Maintain up-to-date point-of-contact information for each fielded system as required.

The likely salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

The NOAA/NESDIS Office of Satellite Products and Operations (OSPO) has established a Mission Operations Enterprise Systems Engineering Team (MOESET) that requires flexible Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support. This support helps to address critical gaps in engineering expertise and project management within OSPO's divisions. Additionally, it may fulfill engineering, project administration, or leadership roles for various partner missions as well as OSPO's internal sustainment and ground architecture evolution initiatives. This assistance will encompass several NOAA missions and partnerships. STC is seeking two Satellite Networks Engineers with the qualifications below for this effort. Job Description

  • Provide engineering expertise in the installation, integration, and operation of ground systems that support NOAA's Satellite Service and related space missions.
  • Perform professional engineering work involving electronic circuits, circuit elements, equipment, systems, and associated phenomena concerned with electromagnetic or acoustical wave energy or electrical information for purposes such as communication, computation, sensing, control, measurement, and navigation.
  • Provide support to Engineering Assessments (EA) and cost estimation, if requested.
  • Support oversight of sustainment projects to provide the Government insight on vendor commitments and constraints in terms of budget, schedule, technical scope and quality.
  • Validate space capability requirements, analyze current system performance, and perform gap analysis to support emerging capabilities in the program.
  • Support investigations into Network, Antenna, or any other ground-related anomaly and participate in the notification and closure processes.
  • Support the transition of the space data distribution and network configuration.
  • Deliver data, recommendations, analytical reports, or papers, including Interface Control Document (ICD) generation and updates/mods.
  • Interface with NOAA and other Government staff to support regular meetings and to present relevant information per assigned tasking. When appropriate, support shall include coordination, moderation, and meeting documentation for various program activities including outreach to government, non-profit, and non-governmental organizations.
  • All SMEs shall have the ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, work in a fast-paced team environment, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Job Requirements

Specific duties of the Network Engineer include:
  • Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified network hardware and applications software; implements network security procedures and tools.
  • Ensures network systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency; manages the installation and integration of network fixes, updates, and enhancements.
  • Performs analysis and assesses all Ground System network infrastructure, provide network optimization recommendations, and proposed solutions for implementation that improve network data routing, data transfer efficiency, data integrity and delivery assurance via NOAA N-Wave-to-SOCC, ESPC, NOAA data centers, and Partner Missions Points of Presence.
  • Assists the Lead/Senior Systems Engineer in executing projects as directed.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering (or related field).
  • Ten or more years of extensive experience in network infrastructure technologies, computer networking software/applications, and protocols.

Job Summary

As a Wireless Engineer at Lynk, you will wear many hats in the world of radio frequencies, electronics, hardware, and software. You will be responsible for the analysis, design, implementation, optimization, and enhancement of spacecraft communications systems for our satellites. Some work products will include spacecraft radio and ground station product evaluations, link budgets analyses, system dimensioning for coverage and capacity (including traffic analysis and simulation), initial system design and dimensioning, coverage planning, frequency planning, interference analysis, and mitigation techniques. You will also be responsible for supporting the iterative design and test of our spacecraft payload hardware/electronics and software. This will include working with software-defined radios (SDRs), single-board computers, LNAs, and filters - you will also be involved in spacecraft communication systems antenna selection and design. While playing with all this hardware on a bench, you'll probably need to pick up a soldering gun, use a spectrum analyzer, and/or configure an RF channel simulator.

Core Responsibilities

The Wireless Engineer - Satellite will straddle engineering work in the domains of RF, electrical, and software engineering.
  • Continue to evolve Lynk's spacecraft communications architecture, including components and systems that provide direct ground links, orbital relays, and inter-satellite links using SDRs.
  • Evaluate and select spacecraft radios, antennas, and other RF components for spacecraft communication systems.
  • Define Concept of Operations for spacecraft communications and related ground systems.
  • Evaluate ground station options and select configurations that support the spacecraft communications Concept of Operations.
  • Design, plan, and conduct payload testing configurations on the ground when testing spacecraft communications performance both in-lab and in-orbit.
  • Interface with Systems Engineering team to inform constellation and network architecture and design based on spacecraft communications performance.
  • Perform link budget analyses, simulations, traffic and capacity analysis, RF system design and dimensioning, coverage and frequency planning, etc. for spacecraft communications systems.
  • Determine spacecraft antenna types, number, and placement required on spacecraft.
  • Perform integration of spacecraft communications systems components and software for the spacecraft and in the lab.
  • Support spacecraft integration, testing, and delivery to launch and spacecraft bus partners and vendors.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for spacecraft communications systems architecture definition, design, and development.
Qualifications
  • A Master's degree or higher in RF or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with software-defined radios, signal processing, and RF systems.
  • Experience integrating radios, antennas, and ground stations into an operating communications system - preferably, a space communications system.
  • Programming Proficiency in one or more programming languages is highly desired, such as C++, C, Python, MATLAB, etc.
  • Proficient in working with Linux based systems
  • Working knowledge of some communications and networking standards, such as DVB-S2, CCSDS, LoRa, etc. and protocols, such as TCP/IP, SNMP, SCTP, Ethernet, Carrier Grade Ethernet, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with programming microcontrollers and SDRs is desired.
  • Must be good with computers. Fluent in Linux and Windows; Proficient with Microsoft Office.

JPSS Satellite Engineer Intern

SUMMARY

ASRC Federal Data Network Corporation is seeking a JPSS Satellite Engineer Intern to work a full year term for an average of 24 hours per week during normal business hours. Within the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) constellation engineering group, as part of the Engineering and Mission Operations Support Services VI (EMOSS-VI) contract, this position working from the Suitland, MD and Greenbelt, MD locations requires proven education and experience to demonstrate capacity to perform JPSS satellite engineering at a high-performance level. Our client is responsible for engineering and mission operations support for environmental monitoring satellites managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The JPSS Satellite Engineer Intern will perform duties as assigned. Applicant will gain detailed knowledge and skill to perform assigned disciplines. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:
• Validation of flight operations products such as command procedures, telemetry displays, trend plots
• Development and verification of mission operations plans and procedures
• Integration and operation of the ground segment during interface tests, end-to-end tests and mission simulations
• Troubleshooting and analysis during ground segment anomalies, including real-time problem identification and resolution
• Improvements to or creation of tools that will increase long-term reliability, monitoring, and anomaly detection capability
• Development of and/or improvement to products used to command, control, communicate and monitor the spacecraft
• Development of and/or modifications to procedures that support launch readiness and mission integration within OSPO

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Sophomore or Junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree (in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field) or equivalent, and 0 years' experience.

  • Some programming experience
