JOB DESCRIPTION FOR WIRING ASSOCIATES:
- Wiring switchgear to customer order.
- Assemble and wire a variety of complex assembly and
subassembly operations for switchboard and switchgear
products.
- Use component wiring schemes include PLC's, Circuit Monitors,
and other advanced electronic devices.
- Perform mechanical assembly.
- Employees are expected to train and work in other departments
than assigned to.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR WIRING ASSOCIATES:
- Must have 6 + months of Professional Wiring experience.
- Must possess a good work record.
- Experience wiring switchgear is a plus.
- Wiring certificate from a technical school or have a technical
associate degree is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams,
schematics, blueprints, material lists, and other source material.
- Experience as an electrician or electrician's assistant is a plus.
- Candidate must be highly motivated and self-directed with the
ability to work in a team environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR WIRING ASSOCIATES:
- Position requires lifting and holding in place assembly parts
weighing up to 35 lbs. repeatedly over work period.
- Stand and walk for up to 12 hours.

Job Summary

MSHS Pacific Power Group is seeking a skilled Control Systems Technician with a strong mechanical background to perform the repair, overhaul, and calibration of precision-engineered control components. This includes shop-based work and field service travel to diagnose and repair engine control systems. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technician capable of working independently and representing the company professionally in high-pressure environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, and overhaul governors, actuators, and related components (e.g., Woodward, Regulators Europa, Diesel Kiki, Heinzmann)
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble components to OEM standards
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams (phone, email, on-site)
  • Perform on-site field service work, including emergency support and customer training
  • Assist with the assembly and testing of electrical cabinets for engineered systems
  • Accurately track job time, parts usage, and submit timely service reports
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and comply with safety protocols
  • Present yourself professionally and act as a brand ambassador while at customer sites
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven experience in repair and calibration of mechanical control equipment
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic systems knowledge; understanding of engine auxiliaries
  • Basic electrical skills, including reading schematics and using diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); basic photo editing a plus
  • Strong communication skills; ability to explain issues and train customers effectively
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a collaborative team player
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel on short notice
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Mechanical certificate from a trade school or military training
  • OR Associate degree in a related field
  • 2-4 years of relevant hands-on experience in mechanical or control system repair

Responsibilities:

• Either directly or through subordinate supervisors, provides operational supervision and technical guidance through administering and directing the work of designers and drafters who work as a medium sized group in a particular discipline on a project or group supporting a global business unit, and assigns lead roles. Determines staffing needs and schedules to meet work requirements. Prepares the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed design 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and construction drawings. Supports development of work plans and schedules for the assigned work including estimate for material quantities, design deliverables and staffing needs to meet the project milestones. Supervises preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations. Monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy, and assigns lead roles. Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort.

• Coordinates or makes jobsite visits as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents. Reviews or defines engineering scope changes, as required, for project management. Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use.

• Maintains up-to-date skills in Standard Application Programs (SAPs) relevant to design work and ensures that maximum use is made thereof.

• Organizes and directs the implementation of on-the-job training of assigned personnel. Conducts annual performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions.

• Establishes and maintains communication with project engineers, engineering supervisors in charge of related disciplines, and with administrative personnel within the project. Consults with equipment suppliers, technical specialists and client representatives as directed to provide and receive technical information.

• Responsible for assigned activities within an engineering or design discipline in a GBU on a project or program. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering in the preparation of complex designs and deliverables under the direction of an engineer. Makes decisions independently concerning problems with the discipline on the project. Represents the discipline on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

• Specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices, and CAD, or a recognized degree in a job-related engineering or scientific discipline.

• Extensive experience in design and drafting and experience in personnel administration.

• Broad knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline. Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups. Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline's design responsibilities. Knowledge of discipline Design Guides, mathematical formulae and design calculations used in the discipline. Knowledge of procedures used for the procurement and quantity control of bulk materials applicable to the discipline.

• Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline.

• Broad knowledge of 2-D and 3-D computer aided drafting (CAD) tools.

• Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort. Demonstrated skill in organizing and supervising.

Specific experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments:

• Natural gas processing including liquefaction and regasification.

• Coal, gas, or biomass to chemicals such as methanol and ammonia.

• Petrochemicals such as HDPE, LDPE, MEG, PET, PTA, PVC, and others.

• Carbon capture and sequestration.

• Solar and/or combined cycle power plants.

Where is the work:
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 or more days onsite per week) based out of Bloomington, MN .

What you will do: 

  • Plan, implement and sustain a Controls Platform Roadmap by collaborating with Product Management and Internal Teams (including Digital Solutions development team) to meet current and anticipated future customer, product, and data needs.
  • Architect and oversee the development of a fully integrated embedded hardware and software platform of controls including broad product implications such as functional safety, cyber security, connectivity, reuse, modularity, etc. to be used in all product platforms in all global regions.
  • Negotiate and collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure high reuse, modularity enabling region, product, and customer specific implementations where necessary, well thought through phase in/out plans as product integration progresses, etc.
  • Lead and manage a team of software and hardware architects, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.  Encourage innovation within the team and explore new technologies that could enhance the platform. 
  • Present architectural vision and lead work prioritization of controller platform through participation in agile ceremonies.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in embedded control systems technology.  Evaluate and recommend third-party consultation or development services, balancing custom development with purchased options.
  • Collaborate with other Controls Architects within Trane Technologies enterprise to find reuse opportunities, align on best practices, and identify architecture standards.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.  A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years’ experience in controls embedded software and/or hardware development (experience in both is ) with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or supervisory role.  
  • Demonstrated ability to create and communicate embedded control systems architectural diagrams, technical documentation, and solution blueprints.
  • Knowledge in embedded control systems design in HVAC-R, Automotive, or Off-Highway applications.
  • Strong understanding of embedded control systems security standards and best practices.
  • Experience leading NPD projects and teams in a technical role, ability to influence project stakeholders, and understanding of robust product development processes.
  • Experience with Agile environments, sprint planning, scrum processes.
  • Technical problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to collaborate with and communicate to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% including international travel.

Compensation:

Annual base compensation: $140,000 – 185,000

Additional Compensation: Total compensation for this role also will include an incentive plan.
