The National WWII Museum is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Public Engagement. The Assistant Director of Public Engagement provides energetic and strategic leadership in the planning, execution, and evaluation of public programming and outreach initiatives designed to connect diverse audiences to the Museums mission, collections, and exhibitions. Reporting to the Director of Public Engagement, this position plays a key role in the development and delivery of dynamic, high-quality programming for general audiences, including exhibit openings, lectures, film screenings, panel discussions, and commemorative events.
In addition to planning and managing these general audience programs, the Assistant Director supervises staff who respectively lead targeted initiatives for youth/family and veteran/military audiences. This position works collaboratively across departments and with the Director of Public Engagement to develop an 1824-month public program calendar, deepen audience engagement, and strengthen community relationships locally and nationally.
Requirements
- Lead the planning and implementation of public programs for general audiences, including exhibition openings, lectures, film screenings, community panels, and commemorative events, in alignment with the Museums mission and strategic goals.
- Provide oversight, guidance, and support to a team managing veteran and military, as well as youth and family initiatives, fostering a cohesive, collaborative team and supporting their professional development.

- Assist in identifying funding opportunities and contribute to grant narratives that support public engagement and outreach efforts.
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred in history, museum studies, education, arts administration, or related field.

The Center for AI Safety (CAIS) is a leading research and advocacy organization focused on mitigating societal-scale risks from AI. We address AIs toughest challenges through technical research, field-building initiatives, and policy engagement, along with our other organization, Center for AI Safety Action Fund (CAISAF).
The Director of Public Engagement leads the Center for AI Safetys efforts to inform, inspire, and mobilize the public around the importance of AI safety. This role is responsible for shaping and executing a compelling public narrative across digital media, partnerships, press, and original content. The ideal candidate has a strong background in campaign strategy, media production, and public communication, and is driven to build national awareness of the existential risks posed by advanced AI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a spokesperson for CAIS and coordinate external appearances and media opportunities
- Design and lead a multi-channel public awareness strategy around AI existential risk
- Set KPIs and report on the performance of campaigns and initiatives
- Identify target audiences and tailor messaging approaches to maximize reach and impact
- Align public engagement efforts with CAISs research, field-building, and policy goals
- Advance CAISs brand and narrative strategy
- Experiment with new tones and approaches while maintaining alignment with CAISs core values of credibility, impact, and scientific rigor
- Collaborate with research, field building, policy, and executive teams to ensure consistent messaging
- Develop partnerships with media outlets, influencers, nonprofit organizations, and advocacy groups
- Source and manage external vendors (e.g., video editors, PR firms) as needed
