Position Overview: The Seamstress is responsible for providing high-quality alterations, repairs, and garment maintenance services for hotel uniforms, guest clothing (as needed), and soft furnishings. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced, luxury hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform alterations, repairs, and adjustments on staff uniforms and guest garments with precision and efficiency.
• Maintain and repair hotel linens, drapes, upholstery, and soft goods as needed.
• Conduct fittings for staff uniforms and assist in measuring and tailoring new garments.
• Ensure all sewing and alteration work meets the hotel’s luxury standards.
• Handle guest requests for pressing, minor garment repairs, or alterations with utmost confidentiality and care.
• Maintain an organized and clean work area, including sewing machines and tools.
• Keep detailed records of all completed work, inventory of fabrics, threads, and supplies.
• Coordinate with the housekeeping and laundry teams to ensure timely return of garments.
• Support uniform distribution, labeling, and tracking processes.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a seamstress/tailor, preferably in a luxury hotel or high-end fashion environment.
• Proficiency with industrial sewing machines, sergers, and pressing equipment.
• Strong hand-sewing and pattern-making skills.
• Ability to work with a variety of fabrics including silks, linens, wool, and synthetics.
• Exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Discreet, professional, and service-oriented demeanor.
• Flexible schedule: ability to work weekends, evenings, or holidays as needed.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

• Interpret design specifications and technical drawings, to create accurate high-quality samples that meet or exceed our quality standards
• Able to sew a variety of materials, knits and woven, adopt machine and stitches as needed.

• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of our sample-making processes.
• Able to help measure garments as needed, be able to learn and understand point of measurements standards.
• Able to cut own samples prior to sewing if necessary.
• Participate in organizing and cleaning the sample closet, fabric room and trim closet as needed.

• 3-5 years previous experience
• In depth knowledge and understanding of all fabric types and how these react to help manipulate in sewing.
• Requires minimal physical effort (lift 10 lbs.)
• Average level of mental effort
• Must be able to work in a team setting environment as well as independently
• Able to sit for extended periods of time
• Prolonged standing, bending over cutting tables, or odd postures

Under the direction of the Wardrobe Manager, the Seamer/Seamstress is responsible for operating a sewing machine to join, gather, hem, reinforce, construct, decorate uniforms and mass production of accessories. Fits, measures and performs all other necessary alterations to Enterprise issued wardrobe.

1. Performs uniform sewing, alternations, and embellishments with accuracy and efficiency to include taking up stride, lengthening/shortening tails on shirts, tapering shirts, adjusting waists, hemming trousers, mending tears, replacing zippers, applying patches, applying name strips, applying striping and applying patches.

2. Delivers outstanding customer service by demonstrating a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in achieving a precise uniform fit. Accurately takes measurements and marks garments for alterations, applying problem-solving skills to address individual sizing challenges.

3. Operates industrial sewing equipment efficiently, adhering to established processes and procedures to meet both departmental objectives and individual productivity targets. Supports seasonal demands by contributing to the mass production of accessories as needed.

4. Measures customer for size, using tape measure, tailors chalk, pins and records measurements and modifications into garment tracked computerized software system.

5. Communicates supply needs to management, ensures supplies are available at all times. Maintains equipment and report damage or broken equipment immediately.

6. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

• High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
• Minimum two (2) years of related experience and/or training in a retail, department store and/or a uniform company supplying tailored garments required.

• Intermediate level of sewing using industrial sewing machine, serger, iron and blind hemmer or equivalent experience required.
• Computer experience and garment tracking computerized software program preferred.
• Strong written and verbal skills, as well as solid attention to details required.
• Ability to juggle competing priorities, have follow-through and strong organizational skills that allow you to thrive in a fast-paced environment required.

• At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
