The CHS Assistant Director will serve as the Center's educational leader, responsible for overseeing the delivery of curriculum and maintenance of high-quality, safe, and nurturing classroom environments. The Assistant Director will lead and guide all members of the Center's educational staff including Curriculum & Instruction Coaches, Lead Teachers, Associate Teachers, Assistant Teachers and Floaters. This individual will report to the Center Director, with whom the individual will work closely to shape the Center agenda, policies and culture by providing direct oversight of CHS's teaching department. The Assistant Director will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations and management of the Center and will assume full oversight of Center operations in the Center Director's absence. This individual will serve as a role model for administrators, teachers, and students at the Center, and will guide staff in fulfilling the CHS mission and vision. The salary range for this position is $ 79,500 to $92,505 per year, based on expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Center Director in ensuring all Center staff deliver high quality, child-Centered education to children
- Supporting the teaching team in the effective application of curriculum and classroom safety procedures
- Ensuring classrooms and additional learning environments are properly equipped and maintained
- Developing and maintaining teaching staff schedules
- In collaboration with other departments, managing future classroom projections and coordinating enrollment opportunities with the Family Success team
- Managing the execution and delivery of child developmental assessments
- Supporting teachers and family engagement staff in providing timely, relevant, and engaging communication to families
- Ensuring proper onboarding and ongoing training and development of teaching staff
- Implementing policies and procedures to safeguard health and safety of families and staff in compliance with the State requirements (DHS/OCDEL) and NAEYC standards
- Providing direct reports with timely and constructive feedback through ongoing performance evaluations
- In collaboration with other departments, optimizing daily operations and workflow management, and looking to resolve inefficiencies alongside the Center Director
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with all staff and encouraging Center growth and performance
- Cultivating collaborative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including parents, staff, and community partners
- Reporting to and working closely with the Center Director to achieve the mission and values of CHS
- Acting as a liaison to the CHS Central Office on any operational and strategic issues as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Special Education or Human Services
- 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Experience in people management and conflict resolution
- Comfortability with technology including MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and/or willingness to learn
- Responsible, enthusiastic, and cares about working in a mission-focused organization
- Willingness to be held accountable and receive feedback
- Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to influence, lead, and educate large teams
- Ability to effectively oversee a large department, multitask, and efficiently streamline operations
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to effectively work with low-income families
- Ability to proactively identify problems and implement solutions
- Commitment to the mission and values of CHS and MHS and demonstrated high degree of integrity as all MHS and CHS staff are considered to be role models for children
- U.S. work authorization and successful completion of pre-employment background checks and clearances

When you join our team as an Assistant Center Director, you will:
- Assist the Center Director in leading teaching staff, supporting families, and achieving enrollment, accreditation, and operational objectives
- Partner with parents with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for their children
- Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts, and corporate partners
- Serve in various roles throughout the center as needed, including teacher, cook, and/or driver.
Skills, Education, and Experience:
- At least two years of early childhood education experience required, with an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and the ability to ensure its use in the classroom
- Excellent administrative, organizational, verbal, listening, and communication skills required
- CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
- Meet state specific guidelines for the role
- Physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors
- Able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity
- Read, write, understand, and speak English to communicate with children and their parents in English

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Meets maintenance operational standards by contributing maintenance information to strategic plans and review; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems
- Evaluates functionality and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by conferring with operating departments; identifying problems and requirements
- Maintains function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by implementing a preventive maintenance program; operating and testing systems and equipment; restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts
- Improves function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by studying performance results; identifying, recommending, and implementing changes, expansions, and additions
- Perform supervisory responsibilities by selecting, training, scheduling, coaching and counseling with disciplinary measures, as necessary
- Evaluate performance of the team and recommending compensation actions
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal codes and regulations
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, staying up to date with the industry
- Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed
Basic Qualifications & Skills
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years experience with hands-on equipment maintenance; must include experience with solving electronics failures, using such tools as test clips for device packages along with grabbers, SMD tweezers, probes, and insertion/extraction tools
- 3+ years experience with supervising work for a team of technically skilled individuals
Desired Qualifications & Traits
- Plumbing License, Certified Pool & Spa (CPO) License, Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certified
- Previous experience in leadership role in resort/waterpark setting
- Able to develop, implement, and monitor programs that adhere to all appropriate regulations, including: Ergonomics, Emergency Response, Injury and Illness Prevention, and Hazard Communications
- Excellent people management skills including resolving conflict, coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork, and performance management
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 15 lbs
- Able to bend, stretch, and twist
- Able to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Able to climb multiple flights of stairs on daily basis and walk frequently
Estimated Salary Range:
$8000 per year - $8000 per year annual base salary
An employee’s pay pos tion within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of Great Wolf’s total compensation package. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and other perks.
