What You'll Do
  • Lead and manage the SOC team, including security analysts and incident responders, ensuring 24/7 monitoring and rapid response to security incidents.

  • Monitor threat intelligence feeds and proactively adjust defenses to emerging threats

  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to SOC effectiveness and threat landscape

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role

The work:

As a Staff Security Engineer focusing on anti-abuse and brand protection, you will lead the design and development of systems and automation to detect, mitigate, and prevent abuse targeting Ripple’s brand, products, and users. This includes identifying phishing campaigns, impersonation attempts, scam tokens, fake domains, and social engineering campaigns across web, mobile, and social platforms.   • Serve as the Program Security Officer (PSO) and subject matter expert for special security and special access program support in SCIF/SAPF environments.
  • Monitor access and compliance with physical and administrative security requirements.
  • Security Coordination:
  • Coordinate with the OUSD(I&S) Special Access Program Central Office, Special Security Office, Joint Staff, and Military Services security offices for guidance and resolution of security issues.
  • Manage personnel clearance verifications, visit requests, and provide security briefings.
  • Access Management:
  • Initiate and coordinate Program Access Requests (PARS) and facilitate Alternate Compensatory Control Measure (ACCM) accesses.
  • Update and maintain classified access management systems of record.
  • Facility Coordination:
  • Coordinate facility, equipment, communications, and IT needs specific to SCIF/SAPF requirements.
  • Assist in developing and executing policies for safeguarding SAP, SCI, and collateral data.
  • Incident Management:
  • Identify and mitigate security incidents, developing response measures for government leadership.
  • Identify and report vulnerabilities, threats, and risks to operational activities.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Review, monitor, and report the status of action items, activities, and products using CATMS and JSAP systems.
  • Facilitate the preparation for and assistance during required security inspections.

Education And Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably within a defense or intelligence environment.
  • Experience in managing security operations and special access programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Security Operations Manager
Chicago, IL 3 days/week onsite in the loop (2 days work from home)

Summary:
This is a newly created position due to expansion of our IT Security team, that will report directly to the CISO, where you will have a couple direct reports to start, with a growing team over time. This is a hands-on team management position, that will be managing Network Security, Firewalls, Anti-Virus, MFA, DLP, SIEM, Vulnerability Management and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB). From a technology perspective, we are a Microsoft and Cisco shop, using other security tools outside of these partners.

What you'll be doing:
  1. Deploy and support security operations tools, processes and procedures to ensure the continuous delivery of a secure computing environment across the enterprise.
  2. Manage network based security components including firewalls and Secure Access Secure Edge solutions.
  3. Lead/participate in security incident management, as necessary.
  4. Lead the Security Operations team ensuring the development of team work plans, assigning tasks and projects to team members, managing team work flow and tracking overall project status and goal achievement.
  5. Manage the recruitment, hiring, development and performance oversight of Security Operations team members.
  6. Manage the teams' change and problem resolution activities with an emphasis on timely delivery/resolution.
  7. Provide continuous improvement through methods such as root cause analysis to improve efficiencies and resolve problems.
  8. Partner with other teams to evolve policies and procedures in response to changing business, industry and organizational needs.
  9. Manage inventories and manage and/or provide input to annual budget.
  10. Develop and propose technical solutions and other materials to various teams within the organization.
  11. Communicate and collaborate effectively with peers, management, vendors, and other stakeholders to meet goals.
  12. Draft and implement critical processes and procedures based on industry best practices. Define, document and measure attainment of service level objectives. Drive the documentation of processes and procedures.
  13. Provide support after hours, when necessary, and respond to after hours requests via Blackberry.
  14. Personally execute hands-on project/process steps relating to the implementation and ongoing administration of the security infrastructure.

Skills we're seeking:
  1. 5+ years of experience with IT Security Operations
    • The more experience with our relevant areas the better: Network Security, Firewalls, Anti-Virus, MFA, DLP, SIEM, Vulnerability Management and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB).
  2. 3+ years of experience with team management/lead experience.
  3. Must have experience managing direct reports.

Nice to haves:
  1. Experience working with Azure cloud security.
  2. Experience with Cisco network security.
  3. Experience with Directory Services such as Entra, Active Directory, LDAP, or Okta Universal Directory.
  4. Experience with Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions.
  5. CISSP Certification or other relevant security certifications.
  6. Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in an IT or Security related field.

Position Overview

Under direction of the Director/Manager of Security Operations, plans, directs, supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of security personnel. Performs a wide variety of administrative and technical tasks. Ensures compliance with all company and department policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides direct assistance to the Director/Manager of Security Operations in performing work of a specialized and administrative nature.
  • Manages communications for emergency and non-emergency calls-for-service.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, coaching and education to develop and maintain an effective, well-trained staff based on performance standards.
  • Reviews/audits incident reports, logs, required forms, and related documents prepared by subordinates to ensure accuracy and timely completion; corrects or instructs officers to make corrections.
  • Ensures security management is apprised of all significant and unusual events in a timely fashion.
  • Assists security management in scheduling personnel to cover designated facilities and shifts.
  • Recommends and assists in the implementation of department goals and objectives.
  • Investigates complaints regarding the conduct of officers; assists department leadership in the disciplinary process and staff performance appraisals.
  • Notifies, assists, and directs external and internal first responders; responds to requests from law enforcement and other outside agencies as needed.
  • Works in environments and under conditions that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition, the use of protective gear and devices, and awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
  • Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons.
  • Attends training and other required company functions.
  • Performs special duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D certificate supplemented by additional college level coursework and specialized training in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, emergency management and/or a related field; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in one of the following: security, military, emergency management, law enforcement and/or other equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of one-year supervisory and training experience in law enforcement, security and/or related field; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with security systems, cameras and other security programs and equipment strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Security Operations policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of firearms, ammunition and range safety standards.
  • Ability to multi-task; focusing on long term projects while still accomplishing the day-to-day requirements of the job.
  • Ability to identify staff training needs and to obtain necessary resources in order to satisfy those needs.
  • Ability to analyze security and safety risks and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Must have a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record that conforms to the company's insurance policy and requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet all department, local and applicable state licensing requirements for commissioned/armed security officers.
  • Ability to work overtime and all shifts (day, evening, night, weekends and holidays) as needed.
Physical Demand Requirements
  • Must be able to assume a variety of bodily positions and postures possibly for long periods of time to include sitting, standing, bending, reaching, leaning, pushing, pulling, grasping, turning, twisting, lifting and walking. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with duty weapons through training and certification by the department firearms instructor.
  • Must be able to operate vehicle in a safe and prudent manner.
  • Must be able to react and move rapidly from a sedentary to active condition in response to environmental or duty-related situations or events.
  • Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time to include time worked in excess of the normal daily day shift or rotating shift work.
  • Must have auditory capability to hear alarms, monitors, intruders, etc.; must have olfactory capability to smell dangerous gases, fires, etc. Requires good eyesight (corrective lenses may be used) with accurate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
